Port Land Grille
The fish, Pampano, was wonderful. But every dish exceeded expectations. Service was through but discrete. We'll be back.
Awesome dry aged steak, treat yourself here
First bit of grilled chicken tasted like fish.
Both cappuccinos has some strange semi solid material we had to fish out and finally complain about.
Both really put us off our meals.
Wonderful experience they went above to accommodate my multiple good sensitivities will be back
The restaurant had a ventilation problem when we were there. The bar and some dining areas were smoke filled from the cooking in nearby kitchen. Food and service were great!
The bar area was VERY smokey and really caused everyone sitting there to end up outside. We didn't wait too long for our reservation but the smell permeated the restaurant. Really the only complaint... everything else was great.
Although our meals were very good on our most recent visit, the service we experienced was far below average. Our waitress took verbal orders from us. She promptly forgot several items that we ordered and had to be reminded multiple times. One of the salads we ordered was never delivered, causing the rest of us 10+ minutes of wait time before eating. Additionally, our server forgot to bring bread to the table. Then, she disappeared for over 20 minutes, leaving one of the hostesses to handle our requests and bring our meals in her absence with no explanation or apology. On prior visits, we've had good service, but this was an embarrassing experience for such a nice restaurant. We were very disappointed.
We have been to this restaurant on multiple occasions and have never been disappointed with the quality of good. Because this was Christmas eve, the service was not up to their fine standards. It was busy as we expected but our server was not able to cope to the busy evening.
This was our first time with our out of town friends-we all enjoyed it very much! This was a recommended restaurant from our daughter and she did a great job! We will be recommending this restaurant to our local friends, actually we already have! We will be going back. Worth the drive from Leland!
Saved this restaurant for New Years Eve dinner. Food was excellent, plenty of wait staff. Very good menu that covers seafood to meats to lighter fare. We will go again!
Very few options for no meat / no fish / no seafood diners. Portions were excessively large. Fried bean starter was soggy.
The best overall restaurant experience we've had in Wilmington. Ask for Bob the waiter. He is top notch.
Dinner was amazing!!!!! I think the best meal I have ever had!
Excellent cuisine choices, as well as a wonderful staff.
WE came in for a birthday celebration and had a wonderful time.
Great experience for family dinner.
My wife and I were disappointed. Didn't live up to the hype.... Dinner for two with two cocktails, bottle of wine, and tip was over $200. The food and service were not worth that... Service could have been better. Food was good but took a long time. Business was slow (maybe half-full) so can only wonder what it's like on a Saturday night! Ordered dessert and coffee, coffee came and was cool. Asked for another cup, and by the time we got that, we'd almost finished dessert. Final straw was being seated a table for two against wall in the major traffic lane with narrow space between tables - had both a waitress and customer walk on my foot.... Don't think we'll be back - better options in Wilmington.
I had a business dinner with clients who misunderstood the reservation time. Hostess went above and beyond in accommodating us at a later time that evening even though the restaurant was full. Service at Port Land Grille is always outstanding with very good food.
Great birthday celebration. Thanks Anne! My filet was delicious and perfectly prepared. As usual, we greatly enjoyed our meal, wine and fantastic service. Hope to be back soon
Wonderful food, drinks and service!
Our favorite restaurant from the greeting to the service to the food. It's always a wonderful dining experience and we eat there every night we're in the area.
This is one of the best restaurants in Wilmington!
Good food. Expensive
Excellent restaurant. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.
We went into this meal expecting to be blown away. However we left with a so so feeling. This dinner was to celebrate our third anniversary and the first time we had been out together since the birth of our twins in September. Service by Emily was fantastic and she was super helpful. The redneck egg rolls were amazing, along with the house made pimento cheese butter. We both had a steak entree which was cooked to our specifications, but we were disappointed when it came to our sides, as they came out cool. Overall neat place, sort of loud, nice concept, expansive menu, but feel there are other options for a steak dinner in Wilmington.
Has been our GoTo place for over 15 years. Go for special occasions or anytime on that side of town. Local and exotic options. Personal attentiveness. Can tell a great place by how long the staff and original owners are there. Truely the best place anywhere around Wilmington NC area.
Nice atmosphere, nice table setting, and nice glasses for beer and wine. Service was good, but we were not happy with our food selections. Husband's sea bass was mushy, and my short rib casserole had a very strong taste of vinegar. The coconut cake was especially disappointing, being extremely dense and dry (almost stale). The meal's cost did not match the quality of the food. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Appetizers and Drinks were amazing! Entree was terrible. Service was great
Friends from long past.
We celebrated my husband’s 65th birthday at the recommendation of our son. The ambiance was lovely. The table was attractively set. The service was impeccable. The food was wonderful. A shout out to Keith for making the evening so special! We will definitely return!
We enjoyed the evening with friends. My husband and I shared the coconut cake. Our memory was that the cake is densely moist and beyond delicious. You must have a new source or the slice we were served was stale. Not sure, but definely not memorable and would not order it again. I will try to hold my tongue when girlfriends talk about your fabulous coconut cake.
Port Land Grille is great! It is one of the best restaurants in Wilmington and we always enjoy going there.
This is one of our favorite Wilmington restaurants. They never disappoint! Go hungry, portions are large. Delicious!
Meal was delicious as always. Service was good. Music was loud and not particularly dinner friendly. it was changed when we mentioned it to our server.
Good service, food was good. First time dining here and we will be back for sure!
Great place and great food, service was awesome and so was the ambiance.
This was our first visit to the Portland Grille and it was very good. The place was close to empty which was one reason it was very quiet. Our waiter, Bob, was excellent and explained everything we asked about. I had the trigger fish and it was excellent. My wife got the snapper and said it was OK, but wouldn't get it again. We went there to celebrate my wife's birthday which I noted on the reservation but there not any "birthday treats" for her. We weren't sure about the dress code but expected it to be casual which for me meant a collared shirt and slacks. I guess you can really dress anyway you want but was a little surprised when a group came in wearing tee shirts, shorts and baseball caps. Not a big deal, just wished they would have made it clear that there is not a dress code. Would definitely go back again.
We walked into the restaurant and the host smiled but walked away. We waited about 2 minutes. Once greeted we were provided a seat at the bar to wait, bartender asked what we would like or need a minute, we needed a minute to look over wine list. We closed the wine list book and then proceeded to wait ~15 mins before being acknowledged. We watched the Red Sox take the field, then leave the field. The gentleman finally asked if we knew and we asked about the Rapture Ridge Pinot. He answered then just left us again, and at that point I just didn't even want to get anything after that experience and right when I said that to my wife a sweet lady came to take our drink order. Fortunately our table was ready in the next 10 mins and proceeded to have a perfect night. The food and service was absolutely outstanding after that. The food is worth every dollar. Calamari was the best I ever had. Looks like mozzarella sticks and amazing. The food would just melt in your mouth. Wife had brussels sprouts as her side and I wanted to take them off her plate they were so good.
The service at Port Land Grille was excellent. Ambience was lovely with crisp table linens and crystal. Our group of 4 enjoyed perfectly prepared fillets and Scottish salmon. Prices are at the high end of reasonable. They have an excellent wine selection, however, if you’re looking for draft beer, you’ll have to look elsewhere as they serve only bottled options.
Best steaks in Wilmington. Wait staff very knowledgeable with wine pairings and very accommodating with menu modifications/requests.
