Port Land Grille
Bone in rib eye was amazing. An impressive wine list, as well. Highly recommend.
As always, the Port Land Grille did not disappoint. We enjoyed our St. Valentine's Day meal there on 2/13 when we felt the restaurant would be less crowded. We were correct. Anne and her staff were very cordial and accommodating. We always ask for a quiet table and as always were given what I feel is the best in the house. The wine list was more than adequate and the servers most hospitable. Foodwise, we each ordered the barrel cut filet and found it extraordinary. Dinner was completed by the chocolate lava cake which is a standard fare at this wonderful restaurant. We visit the Port Land Grille for many special occasions each year and are always met with a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere with plenty of good food and good feelings.
Outstanding staff and service, our dinner was phenomenal. We can't wait to return!
Our 47th Anniversary dinner & this is our favorite special restaurant in town. Our server Emily was outgoing & knowledgeable about the menu. Timing was perfect as we could talk & have a break between courses.
This is not only the best restaurant in the Wilmington area, it could stand up to competition in towns like Atlanta, Savannah, Charleston, etc. We go here several times a year and each time continue to find everything perfect from staff, food and ambience.
Great food and service. Just came away smelling very smokey.
Excellent service, wonderful food. The only suggestion I might make is to widen your wine selection to include French and Italian wines as well as the American wines you offer
We thought the noise level was rather high We even asked the waiter if the PA system could be lowered- which he did. A group of 7 or 8 men were rather loud and disruptive of our conversation.
This is the best dinning in all of Wilmington. It is not cheap, but it is worth it. If you have not been to Portland Grill, you are missing out.
We had left a remark on the back of our receipt and I am happy to write it again. up until our entree it was very good. I had the ribeye and my daughter had the veal chop. unfortunately both of theses items were as tough as leather. I know the manager came by the table and asked how things were we told it was fine. Honestly I did not want to have this conversation in the middle of the restaurant. At desert my wife I asked for decaf coffee with "whip creme" and I was given creme The waiter obviously did not here what we wanted. We were disappointed, our bill was in the triple digits and for that price I would have expected better food and service. We have been there before many times with family and friends it has been a good experience this past Saturday was not. I was also a bit disappointed no one called I left my concerns on the bank card receipt with my phone number
We've had Portland Grill on on list to check out for quite a while. I wish we had not waited to try it! The food is absolutely delicious. Probably the best Wedge salad I've ever had. The Cowboy Ribeye (be sure to ask for the coffee rub!) was cooked to perfect mid-rare and melts in your mouth. My wife had the duck and it was incredible. Love the choose your preparation offerings. Some may consider the menu pricey, but it's worth every penny. Excellent service from the moment we arrived. It gets crowded after 6pm on weekends, so make a reservation early. You will not be disappointed!
We have had a number of great meals at Port Land Grille but our night was off. Service was wonderful as always but food was subpar.
As a first time patron, I found Port Land Grille to have surpassed my expectations. As a Washington DC native, we are very spoiled by the choices of venues and restaurants. We found the food was delicious (husband said that the filet mignon was one of the best that he has ever had) and the wine list appropriate to their menu. Loved the wait staff and will return on my next trip to Wilmington waiting to be amazed again!
Great food and service as always...my out of town guests said it was one of their best restaurant experiences...we had a diverse choice of steaks, grilled chicken, shrimp, and oysters...
Very disappointed. We have been coming to Portland Grill for years, and the last two times we have been here did not measure up. Waited to be seated for reservation. Sat down and ordered immediately (already had drinks from waiting). Waited an hour and 40 minutes for my steak dinner (kitchen was backed up - for a long time I guess, although folks who arrived after us were being served their dinners), and when it finally came it was well done vs medium which I ordered. Tried to take a bite and was chewy (not sure if it was the meat or just being way overcooked). Server seemed very stretched with too many tables, but was still very nice and asked if I wanted another steak - but that it would take a while to get it since he kitchen was backed up (this was at 9PM). We declined, and he was very nice to not charge us for our steak. Left hungry.
The fish, Pampano, was wonderful. But every dish exceeded expectations. Service was through but discrete. We'll be back.
Awesome dry aged steak, treat yourself here
First bit of grilled chicken tasted like fish.
Both cappuccinos has some strange semi solid material we had to fish out and finally complain about.
Both really put us off our meals.
Wonderful experience they went above to accommodate my multiple good sensitivities will be back
The restaurant had a ventilation problem when we were there. The bar and some dining areas were smoke filled from the cooking in nearby kitchen. Food and service were great!
The bar area was VERY smokey and really caused everyone sitting there to end up outside. We didn't wait too long for our reservation but the smell permeated the restaurant. Really the only complaint... everything else was great.
Although our meals were very good on our most recent visit, the service we experienced was far below average. Our waitress took verbal orders from us. She promptly forgot several items that we ordered and had to be reminded multiple times. One of the salads we ordered was never delivered, causing the rest of us 10+ minutes of wait time before eating. Additionally, our server forgot to bring bread to the table. Then, she disappeared for over 20 minutes, leaving one of the hostesses to handle our requests and bring our meals in her absence with no explanation or apology. On prior visits, we've had good service, but this was an embarrassing experience for such a nice restaurant. We were very disappointed.
We have been to this restaurant on multiple occasions and have never been disappointed with the quality of good. Because this was Christmas eve, the service was not up to their fine standards. It was busy as we expected but our server was not able to cope to the busy evening.
This was our first time with our out of town friends-we all enjoyed it very much! This was a recommended restaurant from our daughter and she did a great job! We will be recommending this restaurant to our local friends, actually we already have! We will be going back. Worth the drive from Leland!
Saved this restaurant for New Years Eve dinner. Food was excellent, plenty of wait staff. Very good menu that covers seafood to meats to lighter fare. We will go again!
Very few options for no meat / no fish / no seafood diners. Portions were excessively large. Fried bean starter was soggy.
The best overall restaurant experience we've had in Wilmington. Ask for Bob the waiter. He is top notch.
Dinner was amazing!!!!! I think the best meal I have ever had!
Excellent cuisine choices, as well as a wonderful staff.
WE came in for a birthday celebration and had a wonderful time.
Great experience for family dinner.
My wife and I were disappointed. Didn't live up to the hype.... Dinner for two with two cocktails, bottle of wine, and tip was over $200. The food and service were not worth that... Service could have been better. Food was good but took a long time. Business was slow (maybe half-full) so can only wonder what it's like on a Saturday night! Ordered dessert and coffee, coffee came and was cool. Asked for another cup, and by the time we got that, we'd almost finished dessert. Final straw was being seated a table for two against wall in the major traffic lane with narrow space between tables - had both a waitress and customer walk on my foot.... Don't think we'll be back - better options in Wilmington.
I had a business dinner with clients who misunderstood the reservation time. Hostess went above and beyond in accommodating us at a later time that evening even though the restaurant was full. Service at Port Land Grille is always outstanding with very good food.
Great birthday celebration. Thanks Anne! My filet was delicious and perfectly prepared. As usual, we greatly enjoyed our meal, wine and fantastic service. Hope to be back soon
Wonderful food, drinks and service!
Our favorite restaurant from the greeting to the service to the food. It's always a wonderful dining experience and we eat there every night we're in the area.
This is one of the best restaurants in Wilmington!
Good food. Expensive
Excellent restaurant. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.
We went into this meal expecting to be blown away. However we left with a so so feeling. This dinner was to celebrate our third anniversary and the first time we had been out together since the birth of our twins in September. Service by Emily was fantastic and she was super helpful. The redneck egg rolls were amazing, along with the house made pimento cheese butter. We both had a steak entree which was cooked to our specifications, but we were disappointed when it came to our sides, as they came out cool. Overall neat place, sort of loud, nice concept, expansive menu, but feel there are other options for a steak dinner in Wilmington.
