It’s a very cute place. Good was fantastic! But when they sit you in the sun, next to a bunch of drunk college girls during lunch who are barking at each other, it can get a bit overwhelming.
Service was slow. Was a wait after we sat down to even get water. Drinks weren’t worth it and the food had no real flavor. Wife ordered soup and chicken was dry and the soup was greasy. My chimi was bland and never found the pork belly that was supposed to be in it. I used to tolerate the high price of this place cause the food was good. Gonna probably write this place off.
We had a wonderful time!! Everything was perfect all around and they were so gracious with how long we overstayed! Sorry guys… Time flies when you’re having a great time!
The food was pretty bland and the service was slightly slow, and they kept forgetting to bring what we had asked for. The prices were good. I would only go back for a happy hour
We ate here for lunch during restaurant week. We tried the margarita flight and both food and drink were delicious. Great waiter and great service.
The food and service were very good. Went for lunch on the first weekend of restaurant week.
Unfortunately, the way lunch was posted on the restaurant week menu was not the same when we got there. Our server had to explain and redirect to a brunch menu. It was very confusing, and really needs to be clarified for diners who want a certain thing because they have seen it offered for restaurant week.
A super small serving of guacamole was 10.00. I understand that food prices have risen, but still to expensive. The chicken enchiladas I ordered were delicious.
I will go back, but will not order the pricey quac.
I thought the food was very good and server was friendly. Solid bar drinks. I was a bit disappointed you have to pay for salsa. We order guacamole appetizer. The chicken enchilada bake was totally tasty!
Food and service were excellent.
Port Fonda hands down has the best beef chimichanga I’ve ever had, and the service was excellent! We also happened to be there for a Saturday night Chiefs game; the energy was awesome!! They had all the TVs going with the game and the whole restaurant was cheering. Very fun!!
Very glad to see Port Fonda just as good after reopening this year. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations.
First time we had been back since the pandemic started. Food was just as we remembered it, service was excellent, and atmosphere which is what we love most about it was perfect!
Happy to have Port Fonda back. The music is too loud for any conversation and therefore decreases the times we will go there. Is it just catering to the 20 something bar crowd or does it want to be a restaurant that attracts a diverse crowd?
The food was excellent.
Small menu but exceptional food and margaritas. Get there for happy hour!
The service was great. Our waiter checked on us the perfect amount of times and kept our waters full. The food was absolutely delicious. I really enjoy the music that they play and the volume is perfect. I have been to Port Fonda multiple times and I have never had a bad experience. I highly recommend Port Fonda.
Port Fonda has always been my favorite Mexican restaurant in KC. I was very excited to return now that it’s reopened. However I was very disappointed in the food and the Margaritas.
The classic margarita was too sweet. When I asked the server for another recommendation he explained that the other margaritas would be even sweeter.
The pozole I ordered had a good flavor but the hominy was rock hard, like gravel. When I pointed this out to the server he said he had previously mentioned this to the kitchen and they said it was supposed to be chewy. This was way beyond chewy, it seemed like it wasn’t cooked. The fish tacos were more like hush puppies with way too much breading.
The guacamole was good although it was a very small portion. I love the option to get the veggies which were good, as they should be for an extra $10.
Needless to say I don’t plan on returning which i am very sad to say 😟
Unique food/drink options in an upbeat and fresh environment!
We had a group of 8 for dinner. A lovely evening. The wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. One of our favorite places!
Thanks, Ann. Love to hear.
Great Oaxacan food!
Thanks for the stars!
We don't go out to eat much anymore, but this experience was really a great one. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the food was excellent, and we had a great time! Great place to get Mexican!
Thanks, Amber. Appreciate the kind words.
We have had a Port Fonda-sized hole in our hearts for a long time. We are so glad it’s back and better than ever!
Drink menu was expanded with our favorites still there. Entrees were great and the collab with Char Bar was delicious (pulled pork enchiladas)
We can’t wait to go back!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
The food was subpar. The waiter was slow and they were not busy. I used to love Port Fonda. Will not be going back
Yikes, I'm sorry that was your experience. Can you email me at johnnyr@culinaryvirtue with details of your visit so we can make this right? Thanks for taking the time to write your feedback.
The salsa tasting was great and burnt end tamales were awesome
Thanks, Dale. Appreciate the stars!
Drinks were delicious and so was the food. Our server was great as well.
The food was delicious from the appetizers to the entees. The portions seemed smaller than most Mexican restaurants in the area but blew away the competition in flavor. We will be back!
