Charming local spot that never disappoints. Intriguing take on Italian, wonderful staff.
I came to Porsena for my birthday dinner. I had an excellent time and the food was fantastic. My only complaint was that the server was not very attentive to our table. The restaurant was fairly busy but at times we had a difficult time tracking him down or getting his attention, for example, to ask for our cheque.
One of our favorite NYC spots. We visit 2 or 3 times a year and try to book a meal there every time.
Great food and everything about the place was amazing. The only issue was my date got the wrong dish.
Best Manhattan cocktail I have ever had and the burrata with grilled bread was delectable! We also loved the bucatini, the rigatoni with sausage and the affogado was a perfect ending to our meal. Service was friendly and fast:)
Extremely underrated and one of the best places to eat downtown! This is my go-to place many nights!
Such delicious food amazing portions beautiful restaurant
Menu was limited but food quality was good. This is our second time here and not sure if I would rush back.
The food was a little off (lack of salt in one, too much lemon in the other) but it was a Monday so that may be the reason.
On this occasion, and within its relatively narrow compass, pretty nearly perfect. Pasta as always brilliant; antipasti also very good. We rarely order the main courses. There's no atmosphere to speak of; nothing gets in the way of the fact that it's a place for pasta. I could wish for some slightly lower priced wines, but I wish for that almost everywhere these days.
Sat at bat the restaurant was very crowded - the bar was quiet so that worked out the restaurant was noisy- the food was excellent - the service was mediocre at best
After an hour our entrees were not served. We had to leave for the theatre. Server was very rude
Really had an exceptional time. Food was incredible and service was even better!!
Very good experience from the host to the server. Everyone extremely helpful and pleasant. Food was very good from the calamari appetizer to both pasta dishes. We had the Boar and Lamb. Pastas were cooked perfectly. Don’t forget to try the goat cheesecake!
A really good night out. Food was great (though we did have to send back a pasta- but it was remade in minutes).
Perfect NYC casual Resturant....
We had a birthday celebration and were served at the chef’s table. The starters and pastas met everyone’s expectations. There was more than enough food to go around. We kept ordering wine throughout the entire meal. The service was amazing because Adolfo kept the wine and food coming. Everyone said they would return because the pastas and sauces were delicious.
The restaurant was very noisy because of the music volume.
If people are eating and trying to hear each you have to speak over the music volume and other patrons.
Loved this restaurant- very attentive staff (even manager came by to check on us). Would def make this a usual spot for dining!!
Lovely small restaurant, unfortunately there was a family with a terribly behaved and loud toddler who ruined everyone's evening....not the fault of the restaurant.
Overall it was very good. We were seated right when our reservation time was. The place was loud and our waiter was very quiet which made it hard to hear any recommendations but the food was overall very good (the burrata appetizer was the best) and it was an enjoyable evening with friends.
Amazing appetizers and delicious pasta dishes. My only complaint was the wine list, it was confusing and hard to pick. But the one we ended up with was good. But the food is outstanding!!
This place is so lovely, warm, and delicious! The atmosphere felt like a cozy home and the food was simple, but fantastic.
Super cozy restaurant with hit or miss pasta. We even had to return one, it was completely tasteless. Not worth the price.
Good, solid food. Service was a little slow, but not terrible. Nice.
Great food and service, but a very loud room. Prices reasonable.
nice style, good food, will go again , their pasta is a little special different from most Italian restaurant, which I enjoyed it very much.
we were seated in an alcove near thefront window and door and away from the general sounds of restaurant diners. our server was very knowledgeable and attentive, the food was delicious, especially the pasta dishes for obvious reasons. everyone enjoyed the choices we ordered while enjoying conversations together.
We have been here 4 times and it gets better every time
It was a perfect evening and location for a family reunion of friends who have not seen each other in years. Thank you!
Amazing bartender! Walked us through the menu. Found the perfect wines. Excellent food and wine!
Porsena is relaxed and comfortable with a really delicious and inventive menu.
We had to ask the hostess for our server every time we needed to order. Appetizers were fine, but underwhelmed with the entire meal, especially as the menu was so promising.
Loved this restaurant. It was recommended by my sister and I met a friend who knows tons of nyc restaurants. We both loved the atmosphere, the food, the service. Will definitely be going back when I’m in the city.
one of the best pasta places in nyc. friendly and knowledgeable staff
guided me to a great white wine that was reasonably priced.
When Porsena is full, around 7:30/8pm, the chatter from the other diners becomes annoying, almost irritating. The food is delicious, but the racket can make a meal disappointing.
I loved Porsena and would have given it 5 stars all around but their A/C was not working and it was very hot. To their credit they called us to warn us but we had already left for the restaurant. They did give us a complimentary delicious dessert.
Very good food, but it was very hot inside the restaurant due to the weak A/C and heat outside, which made it uncomfortable to enjoy ourselves. Would definitely go back (and rate higher) if it was cooler weather.
My favorite Italian restaurant in NYC! Feels like a place you would find unexpectedly on a side street in Florence and keep going back to.
Loved those “theme” dinner nights ! Basque night was divine !!!
