Porron and Pina
Tue–Thu 5:00 pm–9:00 pm
Fri, Sat 5:00 pm–10:00 pm
Great food. Love the drinks.
Best restaurant in a hotel I've ever been to.
We made a last minute reservation and when we arrived on time, the restaurant was very busy and we were directed to Pino, the separate bar down the hall to await a table. The bar is a unique and really comfortable circular room with wrap around padded bench seating and small tables and deep armchairs. Started on our drinks and were collected for our table after 15 minutes. The hostess was really apologetic about the wait, which we didn't mind at all and said so. Even so, as we sat, we were brought a board with complimentary cheese and olives. Friendly, professional, and thoughtful staff, even when a bit flustered on a busy night!
We ordered small plates which were unique and delicious. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of food, service and atmosphere.
Everything about this restaurant was great: situated in a renovated old hotel now a boutique hotel; fantastic, really cool pre-dinner bar area with leather lounge couches and creative drinks; separate dining room nice ambience and comfortable; wait staff really friendly and knowledgeable; food taste fantastic and very authentic Spanish cuisine. All in all great in every category.
Loved everything about our meal!
My husband and I were excited to try the tapas. We decided to stick with just tapas. When we have done this at other Spanish restaurants the tapas would come out slowly, scattered. We ordered 7 and they all came out at the same time or within 1-2 minutes of each other. It was difficult to eat this much food before it got cold. We also filled up very quickly. The food was delicious, the idea of tapas wasn’t exactly understood. Service and atmosphere were great!!
Fantastic food and service.
I really loved the space and we were seated in a circular booth which I liked. Unfortunately the food lacked seasoning and flavor of any kind. The cheese and ham plates were the best parts of our meal. Oh yes, and the wine list was amazing.
The ambiance, the paella and the drinks are wonderful....the service and management are top notch and super friendly HIGHLY recommend
Best Spanish paella around. Great ambience, great cocktails. The Bar Pina and cafe are also a great spot for coffee, breakfast and/ cocktails.
Looking for a good quality restaurant in Hartford on a Sunday evening, and fell lucky with this one. Good wine list to accompany good food. Apart, perhaps, from some New World ingredients, this restaurant would have a sound reputation in Northern Spain. Not used to seeing Tapas as part of the regular menu, and the Tapas themselves were larger than expected (which meant we over-ordered). Pricing was also for a speciality restaurant in the US, rather than a quality local restaurant in Spain. However I would be happy to recommend it - even to Spanish friends and colleagues.
Wonderful hospitality and fabulous food. A much needed addition to the downtown dining scene.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Porron and Pina. The atmosphere is fabulous and the pace of our dinner was outstanding. Tables are positioned close enough to engage with other patrons if desired, which we did, but not so close that you feel like you are not able to speak freely. The drink menu is vast and my husband liked the house made vermouth. If we are back in Hartford, we would absolutely return to dine!
Food was outstanding. Service was slow. My beer didn't find its way to the table for 25 min.
The waitress ordered the wrong entrée for me and the cappuccino was undrinkable.
Had a wonderful special occasion meal with family and was blown away by the food quality, authenticity of the menu and very focused and friendly service. Chelsea our server had impressive knowledge of the menu and wine list. Will be back for many more meals and encourage all to give it a try!
All very good, some outstanding dishes. We stuck to the tapas and small plates menus. Authentic ingredients. Great Spanish wines, otherwise a little uninspired list. Terrific service, will return regularly and heartily recommend to anyone.
Somehow I just discovered this restaurant. I knew that the historic Godwin hotel property had been reopened but hadn't heard about this restaurant. Great space. Superb food and service. Excellent all around.
They've only been open a month at the time of this review. We had a very personable waitress who interacted very nicely, but halfway through the meal was probably busy in a different room. A different waitress stepped in to help us though it was clear it wasn't her table. The food was very good and I'll recommend it highly. The bar service was horrible. We ordered a red sangria that they couldn't deliver. A replacement Tonic #1 also took far too long. The Tonic #2 (they have 3 different gin & tonics) made with yellow chartreuse was our favorite. We shared a Valencia Paella and can recommend it. The desserts were also tasty.
New and interesting. Glad to have a place to go for pre theater /concert. Food was interesting and very tasty. Host was very kind and sent over an additional Tapas.
Sitting in bar was ok ( booth sitting not that comfortable , needs breaking in alittle stiff)
Will try again aand ask for sitting with chairs at tables in back.
Overall, a thumbs up and will visit again.
Noise level was such that it was difficult to hold a conversation. However, the wait staff was very helpful and engaging. Food was interesting and delicious. A few, strategically placed, tapestries would add considerably to the experience.
The staff was very friendly and efficient. Most of the meals were great except for one of our friends whose pork was mostly fat. We were in a hurry to get to a play so she didn't return it. appetizers were excellent. Was not impressed with the almond torte it was very dry. I would go back and probably request the same waiter (Jeff) who was friendly and helpful in wine and food selections.
I took my wife here for our anniversary I was very pleased to say that this is a new refreshing restaurant in Hartford. It would’ve been nice if it was open later. But I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Créative , authentic & delicious cuisine. Varied menu to accommodate any food lovers imagination. Upscale and inviting decor. Easily accessible w/ parking garage or valet service. Outstanding service. Rebekah was our waitress. She was delightful and efficient .
This was our first visit to Porron and Pina, and we were very impressed. After a slight delay, our waitress appeared and was helpful and efficient. She was very well informed about the menu items and provided useful guidance. We ordered several tapas (small plates), which were all large enough to share. The menu provides a nice variety of vegetarian tapas for non meat eaters. We thoroughly enjoyed our selections and look forward to trying others on our next visit.
Lots to choose from. Different items to order. All good. Only problem was our waitress did not get our bill correct and it took 3 times to get it right.
Great restaurant, food and drinks but the acoustics are horrible. So loud you couldnt even hear the people in front of you talking.
Was in Spain last October so was looking forward to trying Porron. In a word...FANTASTIC! First, Chelsea is one of (if not the) best server we've ever had. They didn't have Tinto di Verano on the drink menu (a staple on our trip). Chelsea figured out how to make it for us and it was spot on! She had opinions and never steered us wrong.
Tapas were authentic and excellent. Jamon Iberico is a must have (though they slice it more like prosciutto then the way they did in Spain). Same with Patas Bravas and the chorizo stuffed mushrooms.
The Secreto as an entree was amazing. Not sure how authentic it is, but the cauliflower risotto with black truffle was delicious too.
Brought us cava and a few other goodies for our anniversary as well.
They hit it out of the park. Going back with friends this weekend!
All around it was a pretty awful experience. Sparkling wine was room temperature. The first 2 wine selections they were out of. Poured still water in our sparkling water. Extremely slow service. Some food was okay and some was terrible.
They have been open long enough to be better organized!
We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary here. Everyone was was very helpful, attentive and accommodating. Seems like the people that work here genuinely enjoy it. The food was the most decadent that I have had in a long time. I was not disappointed by anything. Definitely have the red sangria.
Wine list is extensive and well-priced. Two of us (friends going to the theater) shared 4 tapas, 3 from the happy hour menu, and we really enjoyed the ones we chose- smoked duck legs, asparagus, chorizo stuffed mushrooms and some prosciutto. I would have enjoyed a whole meal out of the duck legs. We didn’t have time for dessert but I will be back. The service was fine and I’m sure it will get smoother. And once the lights were adjusted down a bit, the ambience was pretty good, but still a little bright.
Much too loud. Couldn't carry on conversation with friends.
Great food and drinks!!! Really enjoyed it. Bar is fun and dining was excellent. Mushrooms and duck legs were both fantastic tapas
Service was great. I’m Beyonce was good. Starter plates were also very good, but cooking and doneness of entrées was inconsistent and erratic.
Everything was great-food, service, ambiance and it was not too noisy! We will definitely return!
Evening out with work friends before going to an event at the Bushnell. We caught happy hour and were able to sample a variety of tapas and enjoy a glass of wine. We found the food, service, ambiance and experience to be top notch. Definitely want to come back again soon with my husband. We raved about our meal to all our colleagues the next day.
Fantastic service, tasty food. Relaxing.
Absolutely amazing! So glad we tried it.
Second visit since they opened. Food was excellent, especially the ham and cheese boards, duck legs, fish bites, paella. Took another couple, I wanted to do a full entrée but the tapas were so good the first time that we decided to try those again - great choice. Service was much better this time. Will be going back soon.
My wife and I were warmly greeted even after arriving a few minutes late. Chelsea took over our dining experience from there and we snacked on octopus, and a fantastic mangalista ham that was so rich the fat melted in our mouths. There are so many great ideas all over the menu, but we had to draw the line which means we'll be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.
Lovely setting, excellent food and wonderful staff. We ordered the plank salmon and it was fabulous!
Thanks Chef Tyler.
Definitely a meal to remember! Jules was fantastic and knowledgeable. Great food, cocktails and wine!
