Porron and Pina
The food was good but had two issues: while the crispy potatoes were excellent, the Jamón Ibérico was sliced in a way that it was almost crumbling. That's why people who specialize in slicing the ham are able to make such a good living in Spain, you have to know how to do it. Still, everything was Ok until we got to dessert, which we had to turn back Do not order the chocolate cake, it's dry and obviously has been defrost before serving. We asked for the churros instead which were excellent. The standout is service and ambience.
We had a delicious meal. Four of us shared tapas dishes, our favorite plate was the brussel sprouts followed closely by the exquisite smoked duck legs. Decent wine list and extremely helpful servers.
Comfortable, warm setting, excellent food. Six of us ordered three rounds of tapas and dessert. They were each delicious and came out quickly. Our server, Mike, was so gracious, informative and attentive. Would definitely return...
We love to go to Porron! Marvelous food and the best service.
Overall great drinks, very good food. We ordered a cheese plate we never received, but it was taken off the bill for us. The waitress recommended we order far more food than we needed (and we are big eaters). Will definitely go back again.
Very good food, and great atmosphere.
Great ambience - went with a good friend of mine pre - show at XL center. Great food - great and fast service !
Porrón y piña never disappoints. I frequent this restaurant for drinks, appetizers or dinner and it’s always great. The service, food, environment and value is great. Street parking is usually not a problem. We love to come here!
Great service. Delicious and varied small plates. Gorgeous space.
Great spot! Food and service were superb. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a new restaurant in Hartford.
Although the menu is limited , the selections are creative and the food is delicious !!
2 of us shared 4 tapas which was just enough.
The only downside was the service . The tapas were brought to the table in a timely fashion . However , we find it annoying and inappropriate for wait staff to begin removing plates while others in the group are still eating . This occurred not once but several times during our meal . This seems to be the modus operandi in many restaurants these days and is very unsatisfactory to say the least !
Happy to have another good restaurant downtown with a non- traditional menu. We ordered small plates to share - they were not really small plates and they definitely needed to be shared but we had a very fun time ordering and eating and sharing! Just order a few and then decide if you want to order more. We did not save room for dessert and wish we had. Next time!
One of my favorite restaurants in greater Hartford and it never disappoints. I tend to always order the paella then a bunch of small plates, all for sharing. Stellar cocktail list too.
We had dinner here prior to attending a Uconn basketball game. We loved everything! Our server, Mike, was outstanding. He was knowledgeable about all of the wine and food. We had multiple small plates to share. Duck legs, kale salad, beef sliders; all were excellent. Prices were reasonable. We will be back!
They were woefully understaffed.
Out of multiple menu items at 6 pm.
My spouse never got his food.
Food was barely warm.
Three requests and one hour for bread.
Awful dining experience made worse by sullen and defensive attitude of first manager to show up at our table.
Second manager did comp food but overall, unsatisfying experience.
Our waiter was very slow but the food was great
Absolutely delicious tapas, perfect for dining with a pair or with a group. I had a superb experience from the wonderful service from Mike, to the outstanding food, to the creative cocktails. The food was also ready in a good amount of time, but I never felt rushed. I will go back!
Amazing, unique food cooked to perfection and an ultra friendly server. Love this place!
Good place but very limited menu, especially entrees. Good selection of starter plates
We went to dinner at Porron. The atmosphere was great. We were seated right away and the service was excellent. We started with the chorizo stuffed mushrooms as well as the Garlic Shrimp which were both great starters!! For entrees, I had the Salmon which was pretty good. My mother had the paella which she said was just okay. It had a ton of peas in it which really turned her off at first, but then she stated that may have been the better parts of the dish. The double Carmel Flan was pretty good.
I did not have an opportunity to hang in Pina. I will come back at some point and do that.
Very good as usual.
Great food (mostly) and our waiter Josh was great as well. Had a cheese, and ham plate as well as tapas. Wife had smoked duck legs and I had sliders. That was plenty of food for both of us. Duck legs were wonderfully flavored and the cheese and ham was good but overpriced in my opinion. The sliders were well flavored but the bread was to thick and bulkey. All said I would eat there again but would try something else.
The service was very, very good until the dessert and coffee. Our waiter was great, but in spite of letting him know that we had stage tickets and had to leave by "x" time, the kitchen did not provide him our dessert/coffee on time. We did not eat one full dessert and scarfed down most of the coffee and jogged to the theater.
First time at the restaurant, we usually go to other places around Hartford but decided to give this a try. At first things did not start too well as we were waiting to be seated for what it felt was like 5 to 8 minutes, we were just standing there. Once seated, everything went well from there, everything we ate was great. The sliders and empanadas were amazing and the albóndigas were good too. Things add up though as the tapas are not cheap, however I must say it was worth it.
Been to Porron many times and always a treat.
Wonderful tapas dinner. Everything we had was delicious and the waiter was excellent. This is our second visit and we would definitely return.
Thank you!! Tim General Manager
Wonderful service, lovely atmosphere, delicious food! Some standouts: risotto tapas, small shrimp dish, refreshing mock-tail with basil and lime.
Thank you for the kind words Cathy! Tim General Manager
Very good food and comfortable setting. Been there many times and will continue to patronize
Awesome meal, service and atmosphere!
While the food was fantastic, the service was horrible. Slow and inattentive. We made a reservation and they choose to set us up in the bar. I can’t tell you who our actual server was. Occasionally the bartender would come over, the hostess brought our apps and various other servers were in and out. We waited over 15 minutes between when we placed our drink orders to when the drinks came out on both occasions. We would have drank more but couldn’t get anyone’s attention. It’s unfortunate, I would not recommend this establishment in the future for tables larger than 4
Tabitha, My sincerest apologies for the untimely service you received. This certainly does not represent us as a restaurant. I am however, glad to hear you enjoyed your meal. I hope you do consider us again for dinner so we can show you what we can really do! Cheers, Tim J. Ratchford General Manager
Service was on point. Very attentive and due to Hartford Restaurant Week, we got a great deal. We definitely will be back. A little disappointed that they only serve sangria by the glass, no pitchers.
Thank you JPerez!! Tim J. Ratchford General Manager
I picked this place because my friends and I love tapas and we wanted to support a downtown restaurant. The atmosphere was nice and waitress accommodating, although there were surprisingly few people there on a Thursday night. We ordered paella and it took 30 minutes and came with the bottom so burned it was stuck to the pan. It was not good paella and when we mentioned it the waitress offered to make another plate but we couldn't wait 30 min. No offer was made to allow us to order more tapas of complementary value or comp dessert.
I think this is poor customer service for a restaurant. I will be going to my other favorite tapas places and my friends unfortunately felt the same.
I’m very sorry to hear this. I will be reaching out to you personally, in attempt to gather some more information about your experience. Thank you in advance! Tim J. Ratchford General Manager
The appetizers, meal, and dessert was absolutely delicious and very unique flavors! Our waitstaff was courteous and friendly and we loved the ambiance. We'll definitely be coming back!
Thank you Rachel! We hope to see you soon! Cheers! Tim J. Ratchford General Manager
Great food, seriously solid and creative cocktails. My dining partner and I shared a single entree of paella plus some tapas. It was all well executed and tasted amazing. My only quibble is the paella was a smidge too salty. I am still dreaming about the short rib empanadas days later. This is a welcome addition to downtown, the likes of which don’t exist anywhere in greater Hartford.
Great food and service. Good handicap facilities. They made my Mom’s evening very nice.
Been to Porron many times and have always been satisfied.
Excellent in all respects! Second time there
It’s a beautiful space located in the very cool Goodwin hotel, where no detail is overlooked. The hospitality is excellent and the food is even better. Every single thing we had on the menu, and we sampled quite a few dishes, we’re outstanding! If you are anywhere near Hartford, don’t miss enjoying a fabulous and creative cocktail and a delicious dinner at Porrón!
Thank you for the kind words Mandy! Don’t be a stranger! Tim J. Ratchford General Manager
Great first visit. Went before a show and enjoyed their cocktails, chef’s jamon and queso plate and fish special entrees. Everything was delicious, especially the chocolate donut bread pudding!
Thank you Becky! Tim J. Ratchford General Manager
Awesome food, people and locationn
