Poros is a sophisticated seafood restaurant modelled after an Aegean Estiatorio. An Estiatorio is a more formal Greek eatery than the more casual taverna. A large assortment of fresh fish is flown in daily from the Mediterranean and North Atlantic, as well as exotic shellfish and crustaceans. Estiatorio Poros also features lamb from three domestic lamb farms, two of which are critically acclaimed local farms (Jamison and Elysian Fields). An assortment of seafood, vegetarian and meat meze by Executive Chef Chris O’Brien and his experienced staff complete this fun and varied menu, which is executed in full view of the dining room from our state-of-the-art open kitchen.

Very nice. Sat outside and enjoyed it. However, multiple people walking by the restaurant were yelling profanities at us and other patrons. I know that is know at the fault of the restaurant though. I am not a fan of fish but found plenty of other delicious options. Only complaint is that it started to rain and instead of reseating ya they asked us to wait to shut the patio roof which took about ten minutes. Both us and our food was pretty wet by then.

It was great for a small birthday dinner with a knowledgeable wait staff and accommodating chiefs....very friendly hostess..the decor matched the theme of the restaurant...

We love Poros. The food is all so fresh and perfectly prepared and the service is always excellent. We had whole yellow snapper and 6 oz filet Branzino, both with nice crispy skin and just wonderful.

This restaurant is closing! We were told by our server they ran out of lamb last week, the tuna in the case wasn’t available to order, they are using a black marker to cross out wine and menu items on their menu, and basically they’re just trying to sell out their inventory. Our salad course came out before our appetizers, and our entree sides came out before our other appetizer was served (we sent them back). We were told they’re closing at the end of the month so our advice is stay clear. Supposedly an Italian restaurant moving in. We saw two other tables walk out after they were told menu items were not available. Too bad - great location and previously good reviews.

With regard to food- they serve this cold rice salad which I intensely disliked. Also, they serve pita instead of real bread-ugh. However, the fish was awesome. Might go back, but pretty expensive.

Excellent waitress & Mgr!!! They were very knowledgeable about the menu & made the evening special! First time there, & extremely sad to hear it will b changing ownership soon & the restaurant will not have the same food. The eggplant appetizer was unique and delicious! The fish was done to perfection! Had no room for dessert, but wish we did because it looked so good! Pittsburgh is losing a gem with this restaurant’s departure!

The seafood was fresh, well prepared and options were excellent in choices and preparation. Although my sword fish was slightly over cooked, the meal was still above what you would find at many other restaurants. The service was excellent and the noise level allowed us to carry on conversation without any difficulty. I would definitely go back.

Very slow service. Food was nothing special for the price. I don't mind paying high prices for dinner. There was no "pop" nothing extraordinary. My wife's salad was very good. I ordered the Octopus. Very disappointed. Very tiny pieces of meat. Not very good serving portion. Ordered the seafood for 2. They ran out of the Chilean Sea Bass. Replaced with swordfish. Nothing great about it or the salmon. Could have got salmon that tasted the same or better at Applebees for a lot less. Wines were very good. I had to wait a very long time to get my second glass. Asparagus was good.

We were really looking forward to this place and was very disappointed.

Disappointing meal. We have had nice experiences before. Three of seven entrees arrived with cold food. Wait staff disappeared for 10-20 minute blocks of time. Substituted side dishes arrived with consultation.

Our friends from Ohio had been to Poros before and highly recommended it. Unfortunately this time the food was just average and the service was nothing special. They were out of several items at 6:30 on a Saturday. Very limited drink selection and the bar couldn’t make basic drinks like a chocolate martini.

We have become regulars here, but had a disappointing experience with the service. The side dish that came with my whole fish was not gluten free, but the server only offered to replace it with cold fruit side or cold quinoa side. I’m very surprised (and discounted) she refused to check with the chef about alternatives. Especially when I let her know they had offered a side from one of the other dishes last time (side of squash (she said that was “based on availability”?).
Hoping this experience was a one off. Will try again.

Went there in a group of 8 friends; 6 had never been there before. Becca was our server and I think she is one of the best servers in the City.

The food and service was all top notch. The fish is exceptionally fresh and perfectly prepared. We shared a whole bunch of small plates before hand and it just reminded us of sitting around a table with friends in a home. I’ve just always liked Poros.

Here is my one thing that I feel folks should know; Poros is great, but it’s pricey. The fish goes for $6 -$8 per oz. So, a small filet of Sea Bass is going to cost you $36. There are a number of great sides available, but one scallop will cost you $7; it’s a Mediterranean restaurant so you might want to add a lamb chop on the side of your fish. ONE lamb chop will cost you $18.

Here’s the deal; it’s a beautiful spot; the servers are great; the food is delicious... but, you need to plan to spend much more for all of it, than you probably would at another restaurant of similar quality. That said, I am a fan of Poros and, to me, it’s worth it.

I tried this place when it opened and was unimpressed with the food and with the high prices for small servings.
I was willing to give it another shot two years later and was still disappointed. We waited 45 min for our main entree only to receive overcooked, dry, crunchy like warm eggplant pie and super fishy and dry dorade fish. The tuna app was fine. Hard to mess up. The manager felt bad and comped the wine and my eggplant. No interest to return. Sad because it’s a prime location.

Nice, quiet place to go enjoy a meal before your show starts. They had an extensive wine list, and offered several fresh seafood selections. The bar area seemed very interesting, what with it's bright blue lighting underneath. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others, and look forward to going back myself in the future.

There aren’t a whole lot of stuff sides but we didn’t mind. Everything was great. The baklava ice cream is a must try. The weather isn’t better nice enough yet but this is probably one of the nicest patios in the city

We are frequent visitors and always enjoy the food - a wide variety of fresh fish and wonderful salads and starters - our favorites are the eggplant and zucchini chips with tzatziki sauce and the horiatiki salad - clean and refreshing!

We had a wonderful meal at Poros! After being promptly greeted and shown to our table, our waiter came over and explained the menu and also provided a few examples for ordering since their "Fish Market" feature is different the normal ordering of entrees. They have entrees to chose from if that is what you like so there are options available.

We started with a few cocktails that were delicious and the Chips Poros, which were also delicious.

We ordered ala carte through the fish market. The platter we put together was:
Whole Dorade Tandoor Roasted, two shrimp, and a lamb chop. We also ordered two accompaniments (family-style sides) of Braised Artichoke and Roasted Fingerling Potatoes.

The fish was superb! The lamb chop was perfectly cooked, and the accompaniments were both wonderful. My wife had the shrimp and she said they were also delicious.

We both ordered dessert. I had the flourless chocolate torte and my wife had their homemade baklava ice cream. Again, both were scrumptious.

Our waiter checked on us accordingly throughout the night and ensured we were taken care of.

Overall it was an excellent experience and the price paid was a value for the wonderful experience we had. I would highly recommend and will be sure to return soon.

This was the first time I had been in Poros. I will return. I very much like the decor and dishes.
The food was well prepared and served attractively. Altogether a very pleasant evening. My guests had been here before and were equally pleased with the food and service. It was noisy but is forgivable as it is a result of people having a good time.

We went to Poros for Valentine's day because I had a birthday coupon. The space is very open and blue lighting gives it a nautical feel. We were seated right away and our server Steve was very friendly and helpful. We each order a specialty drink Athena's Dirty Pillows and the Kapanos. Both very very good.

We started off with the grilled octopus mezze and it was tender and fresh. Very good.

They sell fish by the pound for whole fish and the ounce for fillets. They have 4 different preparations; chargrilled with a lemon sauce which I had on a whole Branzino, Tandoor roasted with Indian spices and yogurt sauce which my partner had on the black bass, and the a la Plancha pan fried with lemon sauce we had on the scallops. They were all very good but the Tandoor roasted was the star. The seasoning penetration was much deeper than the other preparations.

We had the charred broccoli as a side. It. Was. Amazing. I would never usually mention broccoli but this was transendant. Charred broccoli, glazed walnuts, pickled onions and bacon. Wow. It shocked me with how good it was.

We had the poached pear with panna Cotta and the baklava ice cream. The pear was just ok but I would suggest the baklava ice cream.

The only thing that I have a question about is that the entrees came with couscous and sauces but it was not packed in my doggy bag. When I pay 26 for a plate I want to take all my leftovers and it offended me that they probably just trashed it.

Seven of us went for lunch with a reservation. I didn't give a 5 overall because it took a very long time for our food to come, though the restaurant was not crowded. that could be considered 'service, but not the fault of the server. The food was good, flavorful and well prepared--though the large tomato in my salad was a sad winter tomato.

Our server was excellent, the seafood was to-die-for and the atmosphere was very comfortable and chic. Great spot right in the heart of downtown!
