Porch Kitchen & Bar
The customer service from the time I walked in the door until I left was not good. I made a reservation for one when I thought the restaurant would be quite busy. When I walked it, over half of the restaurant was empty. I was told my table was a high top but I asked for a regular table. The hostess said that they had too many reservations. Her supervisor found a two top table and had me seated there. After seating, the hostess said that it might be awhile until my server came over because he was helping other tables. Two seconds later, a different waiter was at my table. The first words out of his mouth were “are you ready to order”. I had just sat down and he didn’t even greet me or welcome me to the restaurant. I told him I wasn’t ready and he walked away to come back about 1 minute later to ask me again if I was ready to order. I ordered a glass of wine and my meal and he went away. It took awhile to get my wine. My food was brought to me by another staff member, and about 2 min later, my waiter is back and places my check on the table. He never came back to the table to ask if everything was good or if I needed anything else. I did speak to a manager who had come by my table to ask how everything was. I told her of the poor customer service; she was apologetic and asked if she could do anything. My food was fine, just terrible customer service.
My meal (chicken & waffles) was just okay. Nothing to write home about. I would say the aesthetics of the place were the highlight of my experience there. I went there on a colder day and really wanted a hot chocolate, but they apparently don't serve that.
The food was good. I wouldn’t say excellent but definitely good for the money and worth going back for. Our server was nice but we waited a long time for drinks and for our food to come out. The par rating on service is more for the manager. She was awful! We didn’t ask for her at all, but we did ask for one tv to be turned on the UK game. You’d have thought we’d asked for her to give us all of our food for free! Or maybe she’s just a U of L fan. 🤷🏻♀️ Regardless, it didn’t seem like it should’ve been that difficult or required such a reaction. Maybe she was just having a bad night or we just weren’t her cup of tea. Point is, I wouldn’t make any special requests.
What you might expect from a hotel restaurant. Trendy menu inexpertly prepared, mostly adequate service. Nice decor. Fine if you’re staying at the hotel and it’s raining so you don’t feel like going to any of the excellent options within walking distance. No espresso. No dessert cocktails. I was served a 10 ounce glass of port.
Dinner was very good. My wife had the chili and I had the ribs. The couple with us had the fish tacos. All seemed satisfied with their meals. The place was full and our server was not especially attentive. I had tea with my meal, but she never offered a refill or even came to see if we needed anything else after she served our meal until time to see if we wanted to see the dessert menu. Even then she did not ask or offer any additional drinks. My wife and I chose to order the banana cream pie, which turned out to be an extreme disappointment. It had virtually no taste and certainly no banana flavor. It seemed to be a store bought pie. I would go back for dinner, but based on the pie, would skip dessert.
Great open air seating area. Food was good and reasonable.
Great first experience!
Our server was a bit slow, but food came out fairly quick. Food was great, atmosphere was very urban. Overall great place for dinner or drinks.
Had the fish and chips. I think they took the "fish" out of a frozen bag and dropped it in the grease. It came out in a friee blob. Terrible!
We really enjoyed our experience at The Porch. The location is good and atmosphere is very upbeat. It did take a long time for someone to greet us after we were seated. Finally one of the managers came over and took our drink order. The appetizers were good. I was a little perplexed with the smoked salmon that we ordered. It was really good but was served with a couple packages of saltine crackers still in the plastic- odd.
Very slow service and had to wait on drinks. Food was cold and waitress was nice but had to many tables and needed help. Would not recommend. Louisville is full of great places to eat and drink but this is not a place I will ever return to.
It was a bit disorganized. Hostesses were rude. Servers had too much on their hands and no one was helping them!
First time visit; great staff and food. A little noisy, but great atmosphere.
Will go again
We’ve been to porch a few times and always have a good experience. We went this time for a late night snack stop after an evening at Churchill Downs. The food was awesome! Service was great! And I always love people watching out the window. Always recommend the nachos, the corn muffins, the fish and chips, and the smoked salmon!
Oh, Porch for brunch is also a VERY good choice to make!
You can’t go wrong with a visit to Porch if you’re ever in Louisville or if you live in Louisville!
Amazing food! Loved it
Great food, friendly service. Very loud, but it was manageable. The crab hush puppies were amazing, skirt steak on point. Fried chicken was excellent as well.
We were in town, visiting with friends for the weekend and were lucky enough to find this spot for Saturday morning brunch! The restaurant is large and spacious with cute, modern decor and comfortable seating. The service was attentive and friendly, and the food was great! I had the Lil Piggy Stack (corn cakes and pulled pork). It was a generous serving and the bacon honey butter that came on the side was really something special. We also got an order of the Pecan Pie French Toast for the table to share. It was spongey and moist and had a lovely flavor. I also had a glass of the Peppered Paloma with my brunch that was super tasty and refreshing!
The service was inattentive, even though they were not busy. The food was mediocre. I had to go twice in one week because of business meetings, but there are better options in the area.
Good location. Food was cold and not terribly good.
Decent food while on a business trip. Service was great. Location is loud, but seems like a great place for drinks in at the bar.
Beautiful restaurant. Wonderful menu. However, we waited a very long tine for our food which was good but not outstanding. Our server seemed overwhelmed and annoyed. She brought my coffee which was requested with cream.. it took 5-10 minutes to track her down to bring some. The Bloody Mary for my guest took even longer. Our breakfast was served after a very long wait. The server did apologize unhappily twice that our food had not been delivered. Given the circumstances, we had expected a manger to come by with an explanation, but no. It’s very likely that if our server was friendlier and the food was delivered in reasonable time this review would be very different. We are in Louisville frequently and I was hoping for a home run Sunday brunch place.... it wasn’t Porch.
We had veggie burger/fries & fish tacos. Both were good. Tacos were a bit spicy, unexpected but good. Butter cake was excellent.
We brought clients in from out of town and work downtown so we thought this would be a great place to take them. The hostess was super friendly and our server was great. I was very disappointed with the tacos, you couldn't even pick them up. The corn tortillas were falling apart and could not hold the fish. The volume of the restaurant was very loud and it was difficult to speak with the guests at your table. The windows were open, and the noise from trucks and cars was overpowering and drove customers to talk louder.
Best Old Fashioned I have ever had. Menu was diverse but not overwhelming. Both of our selections were prepared to our liking.
Great service at the bar and at a table for brunch the next morning. Enjoyed both the drinks and food.
Porch has a lively vibe with a wonderfully-curated menu. The brussel sprouts are to die for as is the corn muffins. The ribs literally were falling off of the bone. This is a great girl's night out, treat for yourself or date night restaurant. The ambiance is lovely. A must visit if you come to Louisville.
Great place for brunch! So many items looked delicious and everyone really enjoyed what they got. Service was great and the ambience was so cute! Looking forward to going back!
We went here for the Backstreet Boys concert so it was packed. The food was great and our server was lovely.
Great food, service was a little slow.
We stopped in before a concert and had the best experience. No wait, beautiful scenery, great service, and amazing food! Very well priced, too. We loved our visit!
Looking for a nice lunch date. Valet my car for free.. very nice people open view of the street available for people watching or away from the window for more intimate setting.. Really liked this place!!!
Very nice place. The food was delicious, I’d recommend getting the cornbread as an appetizer!
We had a great brunch at Porch Kitchen & Bar! It has a fun vibe, with great decor and open air seating. The menu was wonderful and we all enjoyed what we ordered. Service was great too.
Great downtown restaurant. Open windows make for a fun atmosphere.
Try the Turkey Meatloaf. Excellent.
My food was awful. Definitely not what I expect from a restaurant in the Marriot. Service was awesome.
Food was excellent, service superb! Will return when in Louisville.
Excellent from start to finish! Great flavor profiles well done!
Cool atmosphere, but the food was hit or miss. Some of us loved it, but some of us were disappointed.
It is a nicely decorated place but the noise level is very high. Food was ok, but I don't recommend the veggie burger. The hush puppies were very good, and the Mac and cheese also. Service was good.
The wait staff was EXTREMELY inattentive, the food was subpar and the place will carry EVERY sound made by any person having a conversation and you can't hear yourself think! We got 3 appetizers, (the smoked salmon, hushpuppies, and brussel sprouts) and only 2 drinks. The smoked salmon was a smoked plank of salmon, which had the best flavor out of the apps, but was served with saltine crackers like you get when you you order a takeout salad or soup that you are given for free. The hushpuppies might as well have been store bought hushpuppies because you don't taste any difference from a standard hushpuppy. The brussel sprout's sauce was awesome! Too bad they were on partially cooked vegetables! We had our drinks brought to our table by what appeared to be a manager after we had to wait a while to even see our waitress and finally get our drink order placed. When she took the drink order she asked "What can I get you to drink besides water?" My wife and I both thought "oh good we won't have to ask for water, she will be bringing it." Oh were we wrong! The manager took our app order never to be seen again. She didn't bring any water so we tried to flag her down MANY times as she flew past our table, almost like she was ignoring us. When the apps finally got delivered she miraculously showed up to ask us if everything tasted ok, and we hadn't even gotten a chance to take a bite, so we finally were able to ask for water. When she came to see if we wanted anything else, I had to take a phone call for work, so my wife told her it would be a second. When I got back we flagged her down and told her we were ready. But what does she do, she brought us our check. By this time we were just done with the place and paid and left. We will not be back anytime soon, if ever!
