The food at Poppy is always delicious and interesting. The combinations of flavors are amazing. I like the concept of the thali (a number of small dishes accompanying your main dish) as it gives so many opportunities to contrast flavors.
The food was absolutely amazing!!! Their cocktails are also fantastic, the flavor combinations are like nothing else! If you come to Seattle place is a MUST! 😍❤
Excellent flavors and u inquest dishes, I highly recommend it
Poor service, waiter took ages to bring drinks over once we’d placed our order which again took ages. The wait staff completely messed up my GFs dinner order and we had a couple of back and forth interactions before we gave up and accepted a meal that we didn’t really want.
To top things off we had a gratuity automatically built into our bill once it arrived after yet another agonizingly long wait. Just not a good experience which I hope isn’t indicative of Poppy’s overall service offering.
Excellent!!! Always a pleasure to dine at Poppy. The food is absolutely amazing. Very good service. Definitely recommend!!!
Over all, quite good. However... 6.00$ EACH for a coffee and a tea? And the cheeses plate, while tasty, very skimpy. Although the homemade crackers served with it were delicious! Very good service. Hard to judge a restaurant after 1 visit though. I'll try to make it back soon.
Wonderful meal. However, we had a 7:30 reservation and were not seated until 7:55. Then we were not attended to for a while after that. Not a great way to start a dining experience.
So just realized i had made the reservation for the wrong Wednesday! Went last week and they didn’t even tell me that my reservation was InCorrect and for today instead. they made it happen w a hitch! That is true customer service! Great food and cocktails! Will be back again
Always a excellent meal. We were disappointed that they mostly moved away from their thalies for Restaurant Week this time around, but the main dishes were still delicious, and it was still a great experience - just not the value or true Poppy experience during those promo weeks. Staff is always very friendly and attentive, and the flavors are always distinct, bold, and balanced.
Dinner was excellent at Poppy as always. Fresh and seasonal.
Went in here with a group. Our server, Debbie, was GREAT! But apparently we were there during Restaurant Week and you had to order the 3 course option. This was a bummer on the budget for some of our people anticipating being able to order a single salad. Would have been great to have a non Restaurant Week 3 course option available.
Banana ice cream with the date cake was AMAZING!
Beef cheeks were good as well.
So fresh so creative so good! Delightful meal. I had the vegetarian thali. I loved the variety and beauty of the various dishes. I’m not a vegetarian but this seemed so appealing I ordered it. No regrets. I will go again.
We went for restaurant week so the value was good, however the service was very poor. It took over half an hour to get our drinks, we had different servers and the pacing of the appetisers and mains were out of whack. The flavours of the food were great but temperatures were off and some items were lukewarm or completely cold. There was also a very noisy table we were seated next to which didn’t help with the ambiance but overall the service was poor and not at all worth the set 20% service charge. I wouldn’t go again unless someone else really wanted to go - which is disappointing as it was a restaurant I had really looked forward to trying :(
Great, but very slow. Took over 2 hours for dinner.
Besides a little fluke on reservations (my party and I were told we did not have reservations), they were still able to accommodate us and we thoroughly enjoyed food and service! Great time to catch up with friends too during SRW!!
The food is awesome but the service is fair... the wait time between courses is unreasonably long and I think our waiter serves especially slow compared to other tables
Poppy's creative mix of flavors does not disappoint. Their thalis have a variety of different items. My friend enjoyed her vegetarian thali while I enjoyed the braised beef cheeks. The appetizers were also varied and creative. While the desserts have different flavors and combinations, they feel slightly below the level of the appetizers and thalis.
Amazing food and ambience with great wine selection.
Staff was friendly and welcoming
New to the area and have done some research on James Beard winners in the area. The chef did not disappoint and the staff was accommodating. The food is creative, bold and yet not too over thought. Highly recommend Poppy to foodies or fans of creative usage of spices.
Fun spot with interestingly delicious food. Great place to take a friend visiting from out of town. Has great personality in its decor and menu, and delicious drinks
The service here was really unusually slow, terrible and disorganized. We were starving and thirsty. The prices were also high for the food. But really, it was the service that threw me.
Nice ambience and attentive service. Dishes were amazing and fresh. Would dine again if in the area.
Had not been to Poppy in quite some time and were pleased. One of the best restaurant week meals we've had! And, very nice service. We recommend Poppy whole-heartedly.
Restaurant week menu: thai sausage with endive salad, braised beef check, and hot date cake with banana ice cream. Dessert was the star but beef cheek had good flavor
The food was great! However, the restaurant was very loud and the service was extremely slow - it took almost 3 hours for our dinner!
Poppy's Seattle Restaurant Week dinner was terrific! Both of our dinners - all three courses - were wonderful. It was a bit noisy, but not so that it was annoying. The server was very attentive, food came out in good order. Definitely a place to visit time & again.
Great. The beef cheek is melt-in-your mouth tender
I was really disappointed in the menu change. I had been there six months ago and had a great time with amazing food, but the change from thalis to traditional American really took the magic out of the dinning experience. The food was good, but nothing special especially for the price. I won't be recommending Poppy any more
As always, Poppy served creative and tasty dishes. The halibut was perfect, moist tender and with a sauce that was extremely flavorful.
This is a restaurant week review - I went with my husband and we had a great time! Highly recommend the vegetable thali. The service was great and the food was really wonderful. We went early in the evening so it wasn't too loud, but I could see it getting loud as the night progressed. Wonderful (although pricey) cocktails.
Not a great place
We always love Poppy. However, we miss the more extensive thali menu. Entrees were very good but prefer the varied thali tastes. Ordering sides just is too much food for us. The server urged us to get a thali to share but the dishes were not particularly shareable in a larger group. We understand there are good reasons for the switch but liked the previous incarnation better. We really appreciate all the care in your preparation and presentation of the meals.
I took an out-of-towner who was suitably impressed. She left Seattle ten years ago and had never been to Poppy. A bonus is being able to walk, but basically, Poppy does not disappoint. Busy as they were, service, food and drink were perfect.
Amazing food! Birthday dinner fell during restaurant week. Delicious
I always wait for the Dine-Around weeks to once again visit Poppy. The food is so creative and always so tasty. Even when the place is full, the noise level allows you to actually speak with the person across from you. Friendly and knowledgeable wait-staff. Over the years, the price-to-value ratio has gone down a bit, since now they charge you for the naan which used to come with the thalys plates. In addition, only the vegetarian option now comes with the thalys--something we learned the hard way after ordering our favorite halibut and then realizing that we got no thalys with it. Our server was kind enough to remedy that by comping us a platter, but if the situation had been pointed out in the very beginning, we would have been saved the embarassment. For regulars of Poppy like us, we just ASSUMED. Shouldn't have done that. All this complaining aside, our server was terrific, the food was unforgettable, and we'll be back!
Went during resturant week, would definitely go again.
New menu is great and service is quicker.
One of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. Been there many times, and never disappointed
Overalll good. cocktails were great but the rice I got with the beef cheek was a little salty. Also the spot we were sitting had the lights from passing cars shining in our eyes
