This place was ok. The patio is on a parking lot on the roof. While it is covered (great for the sunny LA weather), there were a few dumpsters near and when the wind blew, it carried the smell which was very off-putting. The waiter let my group move to another table, though. The food was good, but not great. The service was great. Overall, I'd give a 6/10 and would probably return.
Really hidden gem in the flower market! Friendly customer service and amazing food!
Beautiful set up. Food and drinks were yummy. Definitely will visit again.
Amazing space abd food is amazing. Staff is so patient and sweet but def seem like they could use help. These are quality employees to be as jolly with so much happening. Eitherway..first time in the patio upstairs.. def would perfer the dumpsters to be further away.. but just dont sit close to them and you are fine.
Super pretty place! Food good. Would recommend the chicken SUPER GOOD!Serves alil slow but they are busy! Prepare to wait long. Only think was the hash brown wouldn’t recommend
Well first off the number does not work, i was calling to let them know that I would be a few minutes late to my 11:30 reservation seeing as they give you a 10 minute grace period but parking downtown is horrible.
When I arrived i told the Spanish lady my name and she said ok wait outside for a fee minutes. The party ahead of me was called shortly after. After 30 minutes a party that came after me was called and I went to ask about our table and she said “Oh ok just come now”….strike 1. We order our food and go upstairs to the patio which has a nice ambiance and the server there went around to almost every table and took their drink orders before coming to my table. We finally get our drinks and i ask her for 2 waters (which she forgot…TWICE) and barely came back to check on us. Strike 2. Our food finally comes and the chicken was so tough i gave it to my dog to eat. My waffle was decent but nothing spectacular, mind you this was my first time here, never again!
It was a very nice experience. I will definitely visit again.
The service was very friendly. The food was tasty. My only quip is the patio situation. To get to the patio, you have to exit the restaurant, go through an ambiguous glass-door, and walk up three flights of stairs into a parking lot. I kept being told there was a sign that lead to the patio. No such sign was ever found. The only reason I found it was because other patrons were exiting through the glass door. I feel awful for the staff up there. They were so friendly, but seemed to not like the disorganization, as well. I’ll definitely come back next year—post COVID.
If you reserve a table on the roof you have to check in and order in the restaurant downstairs then take your drinks upstairs. Not really a fan of this new procedure.
I haven’t been to Poppy+ Rose since just before the pandemic, but even in all this time it doesn’t seem like they have it back together. You still order at the counter and take a number for them to bring your food. They now have a patio on the roof of the parking lot which is nice for and outdoor seating option, but if you want drinks up there you have to order at the bar. There was only one server for the whole place and it took her forever to take our drink orders. Despite me attempting to get a water when I first got up there (there were cups and water dispensers near the bar) she said I couldn’t self-serve myself she had to bring it. Well she didn’t. I had to ask again. It probably took a good 30 min to get water and on a hot day, we were all extremely thirsty! Now for the food. We had a party of 7, all ordered and paid separately but were put on the same number. I was the only one who ordered a salad because I knew I had to leave by 1:45 (we got there a little before 12:30). My salad (the last to arrive out of all the food) was brought out at 1:40 so I had to ask them to box it up (which took over 5 minutes). When I finally did get to eat my Cobb salad I noticed the portions were different than pre-pandemic. Only small slices of avocado, barely any chicken (which at first I thought was artichoke—it looked canned). I will say there was a lot of bacon (dare I say almost too much?). The employees were not very friendly nor did they seem happy and our server actually complained to us about being the only one on the roof. All in all, I don’t think I’ll be suggesting this place for another work lunch.
The upstairs/downstairs set up was initially rather confusing but the service was excellent and the food and drinks were delicious.
It definitely felt like a bait and switch. The menu and the restaurant downstairs gives u the normal LA feel for a brunch spot. Instead paper plates, PLASTIC Utensils and I couldn’t even get a bucket of ice for my bottle of wine! So I had to drink it fast in 90 weather so it wouldn’t get warm. Service is sparse to non existence. They get an E for effort but definitely not what I expected. And the walk up them raggedy n scary steps was not the business either.
Yikes this is not the vibe. Sitting on uncomfortable picnic tables on astro turf on the rooftop of a parking structure. Food is brought up in a warmer? Order downstairs. Food was mediocre too and there's no service to complain to or ask for condiments even. We had to walk around and find silverware. I ordered eggs Benedict and the eggs were hard boiled? So weird. I won't be returning or recommending to anyone.
Food was mediocre. Service was bad - service staff were rude and slow, and they asked us to empty the table within an hour of dining because they had reservations for the table, when the restaurant was half empty. Our group left feeling chased out.
The service was okay, not the best. They make you order before you choose your table. The tables feel sticky, and not all that clean. The set up is super basic and outdated. Imagine a few nice sun covers. Basic benches. And a green carpet that’s clearly old and dirty. The view is cool but I would not go back. The parking lot is dark and just creepy. The food was decent. They need to remodel.
Food was really good but we saw a rat while we were eating. It definitely took away from the experience. Overall not too bad
Horrible good, horrible service, Do not get scammed by going here! You park at the rooftop to check in, then you have to walk four flights of stairs down to place your order inside of the restaurant that you cannot eat in. Then they give you a number and you walk four flights of stairs up to the rooftop. The ambience there was clearly done with a very low budget, it’s horrible! We waited 57 minutes after we paid to just get a glass of water, 10 minutes after that they finally took our drink orders because you cannot order them downstairs. After waiting over an hour we get our food that was mediocre at its best.
Had an overall okay experience but there seemed to be some miscommunication/disorganization amongst the servers. We also had to wait about 15 minutes for water during an almost 90 degree day. There were only two people serving but that should have been the first thing that we received at the table, we had to ask 3 times. We also cancelled our drinks because our food came out before we even received them. No one ever came back to check on us/see how the food was. The food was great though and our out of town guest enjoyed the ambiance. They were extremely disappointed in the service though.
The only reason they get a second star is because of the yummy chicken and waffles. The service was terrible on the patio. There were 3 staff - one host, one server and one bartender, for the entire patio. The host ended up taking our food and drink orders because the server was terrible. Every time we asked for something, it was as if they were doing us a favor.
Don't waste your time or money.
Great breakfast in DTLA if you want homemade food.
The customer service was good and the food was bomb 🥰
the food was great and the rooftop patio is a great add. unfortunately it seemed understaffed and two different cashiers had to take our order.
I love this place….Food was delicious. I will be coming back !!!
Was great besides the smell from the dumpsters :(
Service was extremely slow, waited almost an hour to get our food and servers did not check in to offer water or apologize for the long wait. We had to flag the servers down multiple times or walk to the bar for updates. The rooftop dining area was downwind from the trash bins, the smell was very unpleasant. The food is great, but next time I have a craving for fried chicken and waffles, I’ll order it to go or wait until the main dining area reopens.
Felt rushed through the process of ordering, food was ok. Waitress did not check on us after food was brought to our table. Lack of great service.
It was a cute nice experience. Workers were really nice and attentive. Food was delicious. Only downside would be that the outside patio have the trash bins really close and we would get the really horrible smell from the trash bins. If they were to be moved further down I think it wouldn’t be a problem. Not something you want to be smelling while eating.
Overall the restaurant itself is great.
The food is decent , the cocktails and service was not the best. I definitely expected more based of off other reviews. You can definitely get the same type of food somewhere else with better service and ambiance. The “rooftop” is the top of a parking lot with fake grass and picnic tables surrounded by cars and the smell of trash.
A wonderful and unique picnic style rooftop eatery- we left our breakfast plates clean!
Very cute brunch spot. Good food and drinks. The only dislike was the slight smell of the garbage bins when the wind blew.
No I would not.. I asked to not be in the heat and they put us in the heat after they said a table was ours. We waited 2 hours for food that had been sitting waiting to be delivered. They also were very rude about the way they did tickets. It was obvious our business was not wanted. I wouldn’t recommend anybody black to go to this restaurant.
The Waffles and fried chicken were GOLD!
took our server 25 minutes and me going to the host stand 2 times before someone came to even take our drink order. the server didn’t seem to want to be working because before we got greeted she was leaning against a wall drinking like we hadn’t been waiting for 10+ minutes at that point. entire wait staff was rude and unhelpful. food was good but nothing worth dealing with crappy service over.
Excellent food and value. Great service.
Good was good (especially crispy fried chicken), service was quite slow. Also if on patio, many gaps without shade so bring a hat/sunscreen.
The dining experience is on the roof top of a parking garage. The food is pretty decent, we got the grain vegetable bowl w sunny side eggs. The service was a bit slow and staff didn’t seem to happy.
Very small portion sizes for the price. Ordered a large coffee to share between me and my husband, but turned out to be the size of a Starbucks Tall. Food was decent. Service was okay. They also charge $2 to substitute avocado for meat, even though you're taking out the cost of the meat.
Service was ridiculously slow. I don’t recommend having a 230 reservation when you close at 3 and the parking structure closes at 4. We were practically shoo’ed out.
Although rooftop converted to dining, ambiance was lovely. Took a little longer than normal to take our order, but the servers made up for it. They were all awesome.
I think i might be bad with direction because it was not the easiest to find , but when you get there , it’s so worth it. But make sure you bring cash ($3) because we didn’t for the parking and had to go find an atm.
The food is honestly amazing! The staff is so sweet as well! Def coming back
