The first reason to head to the Popponsset Inn is for oceanside dining, but it is not the only reason. The food is always excellent, as is the service. We have thoroughly enjoyed all our dinners at the Popponsset Inn.
We sat in the reception tent area with a dance floor. Was expecting a bridal party to walk in. Prices way to high for that atmosphere. Paid the same money at Bleu and atmosphere was intimate and worth the money.
Got a sitter, got dressed up, went to the restaurant to find it was closed despite having a confirmed reservation. No attempt was made to contact us and several other folks were in the same boat. So disappointing!
Manager was wonderful; waitress needs more training.
Unable to identify the sword and haddock dishes when serving them.
So nice to sit outside and enjoy the view. Excellent food & service.
great dining experience
recommend for large or small groups
the staff is active yet not attentive
stick with NE style foods
clam chowder, lobster, fish
all food is fresh and presented nicely
we went twice during our week of vacation
once with large group had to be two tables bc of COVID
and once with my wife and I
The wine menu is small but has nice selections
the cocktail menu is also short but the rum runner was great and don't typically like any sweat drinks
We went back for our 1st wedding anniversary after having gotten married at the Poppy - another wonderful experience! Our server, Miranda, was delightful and answered all the questions we had! Only negative was too much peppercorn on the steak - it overpowered all the other flavors.
It was nice to see a few new additions to the menu. Service was excellent. Food was very good. Great view. A lot of activity with a wedding party there.
I won’t go back. Just awful.
This was our second attempt to have lunch. The First time we tried, we were turned away because we had no reservation..though the restaurant WAS EMPTY! Couple days later I made a reservation..and the restaurant was AGAIN EMPTY. Made no sense....
Had a 7 pm reservation. Table not ready. At 8 pm no water or rolls on table. Waiter didn't seem to know what he was doing.
Delightful evening at Popponesset Inn. View is great, the staff very welcoming and our food this year has been delicious. We would recommend the restaurant to those who want a view of the water and wonderful
Had a great Lobster roll and salads for the table. The lobster was sweet just like the service. Thanks for making a great summer meal for us!
Excellent food and service with a great view of Nantucket Sound. A bit noisy as there was a wedding party seated near us.
Great spot for guests new to Cape Cod!
Great view of the ocean. The sole was fabulous and the portions large. Great Quahog also.
The food was very poor, my swordfish main was swimming in black beans and inedible due to way too much chilli being used. Even after complaining they didn’t take it off the bill. The venue was also not in great shape, though the view was very nice.
Very professional and extremely helpful service. Josh was our server and very attentive. Food was very good and up to par.Great choices for food and great children's menu.It was a hot night and I think that it is time for air conditioning update.Other than that will always be happy to go back.
NOISE!!! I am so tired of eating in restaurants where you cannot carry on a conversation with the person next to you, never mind the person across the table, because of the noise level. The food was good, but the entire meal was a struggle to hear our fellow dinner guests or the server. We won’t go back. Not a relaxing, enjoyable evening.
All wonderful, only complaint would be the noise level.
Great table. Waitress was nice, but disappeared for long periods. Plenty of lobster meat in the lobster roll, but the lobster LACKED FLAVOR. Either the meat was previously frozen or it had sat around for long time. Used to be much better.
Delicious food and great service! Can’t wait to go back!
Excellent meal in a beautiful setting.
Celebrated our daughter's birthday here and loved not only the view and food but the friendly service provided by Maddie.
Food was mediocre and overpriced. Wait staff you and inexperienced although well meaning. It was raining so an outdoor wedding was forced inside which drive up the noise level and general chaos.
The hostess seated us at a window with an ocean view which was quite delightful. Our server, Rachael was attentive and listened to what we wanted. Our meals were delivered as we preferred not to quickly but at a good pacing. Both of us were pleased with our fish entrees and would return to have these two (lemon swordfish and sole francese) again. Wine was reasonably priced and served at the correct temperature. Overall a very good experience in a restaurant we had frequented in the past but were not excited about for awhile. We will certainly return it to our regular dining schedule.
All three of us ordered different appetizers and entrees and everything was fresh, well cooked and delicious. Our server was polite, friendly and very efficient. It was a bit loud, but we throughly enjoyed our experience.
The location of the Popponesset Inn is idyllic and on a beautiful Saturday afternoon seemed like the perfect spot to bring my Wife of 26 years on a lunch date. Our server, John, was attentive, responsive and overall very professional and was a pleasure to deal with. We each had clam chowder which was fine, our lunch was served promptly and for me this is where it goes wrong. I had Fish and Chips, apart from the usual amount of greasiness which I was prepared for, it felt like I was eating fish fingers, certainly not up to the standard I would have expected from an establishment such as this. although not a date breaker, we will be back as I would like to have a wider sampling of the menu at this restaurant.
I dine at the Popponesset Inn, and have been a customer since 1956 with my parents. You can't always get everything perfect at the beginning of the season, but I am looking forward to continuing my selections at my favorite restaurant. See you soon.
Lovely view, good food, good service though the menu appears limited. Entree's we were used to seeing a few years ago ( scallops, surf n turf, more chicken dishes, a few more pasta dishes) were not available. Vegetarian options are limited.
We visited on a Saturday afternoon...3:00. This is right between their lunch and dinner. The lunch menu was this active.
We were the only table seated in the place... although the bar across the hall had a couple of parties seated. We had a seat inside by the water. You are not allowed to eat outside unless you are club member. So the public is welcome...just not 100% welcome.
The drinks were meh at best (Martini...just vodka. How can you screw that up? Wrong) The plates were large, and we ordered a spinach salad and I had the fisherman's platter. Plenty of food, but everything was battered heavily...even the fries. It wasn't horrible, but not worthy of another visit.
Service was only ok. Not horrible, but not super attentive.
Like the reviewers before me, I do think it to be odd that they include an 18% tip on the bill. We paid 20% even though it wasn't great but gee-whiz folks. Really?
Overall a disappointment. We won't be returning.
Josh was an excellent waiter, very attentive and helpful. The view is amazing. The entrees are pretty good, but pricey (you are paying for the view). However, you can have a good burger or fish sandwich for about $15, and that's not bad. We live nearby so we'll be back.
As always a positive dining experience. Menu is not extensive, but there is generally something there for everyone. Good service. Great view.
View was just breathtaking! Chowder was one of the best I’ve had. Lunch menu could use a few more items. Looking for the lobster flatbread we had last March. Not on menu in May.
Food was awesome! Service was great! They have really stepped up their game this year. Well done!
Very disappointed in the wines by the glass choices. The wines by the bottle list is fantastic but by the glass is horrible! I ordered the filet medium plus and it came out medium rare. By the time the filet came back from the kitchen my wife was finished with her meal.
The menu was limited but food was excellent. We had great, attentive service. If the weather was foggy and wet the scenic ocean view would have only enhanced the experience. Highly recommended.
Surprisingly good. We were a little concerned because of various experiences at the Poppy Inn but this meal was really good! We had the Parmigiana encrusted cod special and the lobster role. Both were really good. Rolls were served warm to the table and the Caesar salad was good. Hopefully the Inn has fixed their quality and service issues from the last.
