The menu was limited but food was excellent. We had great, attentive service. If the weather was foggy and wet the scenic ocean view would have only enhanced the experience. Highly recommended.
Surprisingly good. We were a little concerned because of various experiences at the Poppy Inn but this meal was really good! We had the Parmigiana encrusted cod special and the lobster role. Both were really good. Rolls were served warm to the table and the Caesar salad was good. Hopefully the Inn has fixed their quality and service issues from the last.
Valentine’s Day dinner. Food was very good and presentation was gorgeous. Very nice staff and good fixed price menu.
Great time!! Great food!! We will be back!!
Always a great place to go and wonderful that the Poppy is now open through New Year's eve.
Once again we had a fabulous meal enjoying the specials of the day which were Short Ribs and Surf and Turf. Besides the beautiful seaside setting, we had an amazing server, Maddie, who helped us pair the perfect wine with our entrees and encouraged us to finish the meal with a marscapone cheesecake with chocolate ganache which was the perfect ending to a wonderful evening. Looking forward to our next visit there!
We had an excellent Anniversary dinner. Thank you
Have been going to the Poppy for years. The menu change & cuisine is the best it has ever been. As always the waterfront view is mesmerizing, but is a wonderful backdrop for enjoying an excellent meal and great conversation with dinner guests. Just visiting? Be sure to make a time for dinner at the Poppy. You won't be disappointed.
Once again we had a wonderful dinner at the "Poppy". The manager Robin welcomes each customer warmly and makes sure that everyone has an enjoyable dining experience. If you're lucky enough to get Maddie or Rachel as your waitress it will make for a perfect night. The wine list is extensive. The view is spectacular. There aren't too many fine dining restaurants right on the beach and we're lucky to have it so close to our home! Try the lobster, it's delicious. Something you have to enjoy while dining on the Cape!
Beautiful waterfront dining. Dress up or casual. Food was inventive and delicious. Very attentive servers.
No wedding going on so very quiet and lovely night at sunset. Highly recommended.
When wedding is happening, usually have live music and very energetic!
The view was great, but atmosphere was just ok, probably because there was a wedding
Had high hopes for a lovely late lunch with a beautiful view, but never even got the chance to try it. When we arrived right on time, the hostess was on the phone and never bothered to acknowledge our existence until ending the call after several minutes. When she did greet us, she said that she was giving the kitchen a break to “catch up.” We told her we had made a reservation on open table and she rolled her eyes. Told us it would be at least 20-30 minute wait. The dining room literally had only two occupied tables. We asked if we could be seated while we waited for the kitchen to catch up, and she said no. She then said there were other parties in front of us and it would be a long wait. She was very unpleasant and snotty throughout our conversation, and we were so turned off we left. Would never go back. To top it off, she apparently informed open table that we were a no show!
Summer community with many families who are members of golf club, dining and other facilities. Sat indoors with a nice view of the water. A private party did not allow us to sit outdoors that evening.
Friendly service. Appetizers, entree etc spaced in a timely way. If you ask for something to be prepared in a way off the menu they generally do it if it is within their possibility (ie. frying something or broiling/grilling instead of baking etc) View is lovely. Be sure to make reservations for Friday and Saturday dining when "on season" - actually, I'd make a reservation to assure a table for any day of the week during the peak season. The Inn often hosts wedding receptions which can make parking a nightmare for those simply dining there and the noise level can be much higher during these special occasions. Still, despite the noise or the extra steps from a more distant parking spot - it's worth it to enjoy a wonderful dinner and let yourself "get lost"in thought while viewing the vastness of Nantucket Sound.
Wonderful evening at the Popponesset Inn! Food and service was spot on! We brought our friends from MI, their first time to East Coast and Cape Cod. They were impressed! Hats off to the Chef! Thanks for continuing to provide exceptional food!
Everything was very good! We went on the basis of this being a seafood restaurant and everyone was happy with their choices and meals. Fish extremely fresh and the crab cake appetizer was delicious and generous as an appetizer. This was our first visit and we will certainly return!
Fantastic location. Food is always solid. Server Sarah was terrific. Hard to top on a summer evening.
We had lobster rolls for lunch on the last day of our Cape Cod vacation. Outstanding! The hostess made us feel welcome. Our server was attentive. We had a seat by the window looking out to the beach and ocean. Delightful experience.
We come every year. Reception was a little unorganized but quickly recovered. Miranda was a great server. Food was well prepared and delicious.
One of the greatest ocean views on the Cape with very good and reasonable food!
The food was very good but the service could have been better. One of our friends ordered cole slaw with his dinner. We had a difficult time getting someone’s attention and it was finally brought when his meal was finished. I guess it was his desert . We enjoy the Poppy and would return and hope the service issues are worked out.
The food was fine but the service was awful. It took over 2 hours to eat dinner. We had lovely conversation but it took forever to get our food
The view is what makes this restaurant a place to visit. The food was average and the service was good. The space however was very noisy which made it difficult to carry on a conversation.
Beautiful spot. Can’t beat the location.
A fabulous beachside setting and the amazing, simply prepared cod made for a delightfully Cape experience. Great place to bring company and friends or just to enjoy yourself.
The food was good views we're awesome. The service for the class of restaurant this is supposed to be leaves much to be desired. It seems the kitchen was understaffed during 4th of July week and the waitstaff was not backing each other up. This in my mind is not the waitstaffs fault. Usually problems like this are attributed to a management issue.
Did not realize there was a function taking up all of the outside area. Waitress apologetic that service was slow perhaps because of this; it took ten minutes for her initial greeting at the table and 20 minutes more to get the drinks ordered. Signature Haddock encrusted with Cape Cod Potato Chips entrée was bland at best. My friend's Chicken Caesar was limp and ordinary. Acoustics are horrid - plan on bringing a megaphone to hear your dining mate across the table. Not worth the trip.
We were not aware that there was going to be a wedding during our dinner reservation. We could not take advantage of the prime seating area by the beach (one of the main reasons to book), the bar was shared between regular diners and the wedding guests, which was odd, and it was extremely loud. If we had known in advance, we'd have just booked another night. Wedding aside, I was extremely impressed with the service. A member of our party has a dairy allergy and our server went above and beyond to ensure that not only was her meal prepared in a safe way without any cross contamination, but also that it would be delicious and not second rate due to the lack of butter, etc. We couldn't have asked for a better experience as far as service was concerned, in addition to accommodating the allergy. The food was great as well. We will definitely be back, just hopefully on a slightly quieter night!
Worst dining experience ever. Have been going to Poppy for 6 years. Reserved table for 7:30 birthday celebration. The 3 (yes why 3) lovely greeters were polite and let us know that our table would be ready in 5-10 min. No problem-went to bar. Seated in dining room 20 min post reservation time. Waited 15 minutes for server to approach us . Maddie, our server, took drink order and delivered but waited for her return for dinner order. At least 15 minutes later we flagged her down when the table next to us ordered because she never acknowledged us. Placed app and dinner order.
Appetizer arrived 15 min after ordering but at 9:00 (45 min after ordering)pm we still did not have our dinners and table next to us was completing dinner and leaving.!
Service with Maddie was pathetic. clueless to our needs. Servers not trained well- maybe the automatic 18% is to blame.
Poppy is for tourists.
The six of us had an entertaining evening. The food was special, the service was fine and the atmosphere is extraordinary.
The timing was off. The dining rm we were seated at was empty. The menu choices were limited but food was fine. We would have preferred outside dining at that time in the afternoon . The waitress was pleasant and attentive. Overall experience was ok. I will try again but will get a later reservation.
Great place for a nice dinner. The service was excellent and the food is always great.
Although we were all very pleased, one of my guests , who follows a vegan diet, was unable to find any selections and ended up with just a salad!
A little expensive for what is it, but it's right on the beach with nice views. Good service and food!
Great place for business meeting, after golf, special occasions, or a romantic date. Very good bar scene, classic cocktails and a good wine list. I would definitely go to this restaurant again.
Seemed understaffed. Our waitress was great when she was with us, but we had some long lulls. Unfortunate because I liked the waitress. I wish I could rate the experience higher, but the food was meh even had the prices been lower.
Great Cape Cod ambience with the patio overlooking the beach and the water. Although enclosed I felt like we were dining outside. We went for a late dinner; the menu covers the basics; seafood mostly, a few red meat dishes, a peri peri chicken dish that was delicious. The wedding on the other side of the restaurant was noisy, but added life and vitality on a Saturday night. We would dine there again.
Great food, on the water.
We have been members at New Seabury and have been dining at the "Poppy Inn" seasonally for years. I must say that I have never had a meal as good as the one I had on my last visit. The blackened swordfish was fresh and flavorful and the veggies were cooked to perfection. Everyone else at the table was pleasantly surprised as well. I wonder if there is a new manager, chef, or both. In any case we will be back sooner rather than later.
