Poplar: Tapas Wine Spirits
Only one waitress for the whole restaurant on the inside, the poor waitress made a great effort to serve us, also the white wine wasn’t cold enough . But the place is beautiful and the atmosphere is great.
Entree for one was brought ten minutes before the second entree and appetizer. Water was spilled as soon as the server came to our table and wasn’t cleaned up for ten minutes. No conversation could be had because there was so much talking. The food was a huge let down.
Absolutely lovely ambiance. Really nice manager who was attentive and gracious. Shrimp dish was yummy. We did get bitten by a few mosquitos while we dined outside, but I can’t really blame the restaurant for that, as I get bitten everywhere. Eating outside in the cute courtyard was worth it.
The food was so so but the service was terrible. We ordered s bottle of wine & planned to relax & enjoy it but they rushed all the food out before we even took a sip. The restaurant was not crowded so there was no reason for the rush. And it’s tapas so we had hoped it would come in waves. The service really ruined the experience for us.
Beautiful ambiance amazing location perfect for an intimate dinner
We love Poplar. Every time we go we have an amazing experience. We love a restaurant in an old house and the food is amazing. Do not pass on visiting Poplar!!
We had a 7:30 reservation and only after asking for service and attention 3 times did we have food at 8:35. We had to ask for service for drinks, again to place an order, again to get refills and to inquire about the status of our food order. The manager came and was eager to please without conversation so he comp’d our drinks. We appreciated the gesture! Server apologized profusely about being busy and a new menu being an issue. It is a great location that was super disappointing to us tonight. Very unlikely to go back.
Just ok. The server we had was cute as a button but not very informed about the menu. The food was ok, not special.
I really enjoyed the time with family and friends. The food was satisfactory with a few underwhelming items like the macaroni and cheese and the sautéed shrimp tacos. The drinks were very well done, were not weak at all. The ambiance was good, inside a renovated old style house downtown near Church St. Will come back again.
Food was great but the service was beyond slow!
The restored house turned restaurant, the attentive service, the fantastic drinks, the food delish...loved every single thing about this place!!!
Great food, cute location.. service was slow but polite.
Very quaint and unique atmosphere . Option to dine inside or outside was nice. Food was excellent. Tapas style highly recommended. Friendly service
Delicious! Love the ambiance and decor. Service was wonderful and I can't wait to return!
Our server, Martin, is an interesting person. Food was delicious, as always. Kitchen was a bit slower than expected but management kindly comped an extra drink for the delay.
Lovely small spot.
Great table outside. Food very good.
Nice place for a romantic evening. Food was delicious.
Overal the experience and food was great. They ran out of a lot of the courses as apparently there was a town event the day we decided to try it out.
Beautiful table settings outside on the grass, quick service and good daily deals!
The food, service and ambiance were all great! There was live music when we went and it made for a great backdrop for the evening.
Amazing place and good tapas. The service was very good
The outdoor patio is perfect for a spring/summer night! Wonderful place to bring those visiting the city.
The food was great, and the waiter was very thorough and provided great suggestions for the food selection. Due to the larger size of our party we were not able to sit out side and enjoy the beautiful ambience outdoors. I will definitely return and looking forward to experiencing the live music on Fridays.
Love the cute house and atmosphere and live music! The setting was perfect for date night, but the food was cold and extremely crazy salty - I don’t know if it was an off night for the chef or what, but the food was really disappointing. I also felt the food did not match the menu description - for example the spinach and cheese cannelloni did not include cheese...
Horrible service, waitress kept us waiting a long time, never cleaned our table. Food was avarage not great. Very loud indoors. Won't go again.
Poplar was a wonderful restaurant. Great food, vibe, and location! I'll definitely be back.
A beautiful restaurant with very good food. It's in a very impressive restored Victorian house. The dishes we ordered were delicious and cooked well, nothing mind blowing but still solid. The thing that will keep me from ever going back was the service. Our server disappeared in the middle of the meal and at end eventually we had to get up and go find someone to bring us our bill. When they did they brought an iPad to the table and initiated us paying by a square. Sometimes one person wants to pay and not have the other person see the bill or whatever, but the host just stood there and blurted out the total to the whole room and then we proceeded to swipe our cards at the table. I really found that so tacky I will never go back again.
I took three friends who had not dined at Poplar Tapas. We are in our upper 70's, so made an early
reservation for 6:00pm. By the time we finished dinner, there was a very loud party at a table in the same room. One of my guests wears hearing aids. We were grateful to be ready to leave.
This was my second visit to Poplar and I wanted to share my new "find" with friends who do not regularly venture downtown. We were delighted with our salads and most tapas, but the steak kabobs were a disappointment.......not tender.
One of our new favorite reataurants! We ordered a little of everything and there was not one dish that didn’t stand out. Flavors were phenomenal and portions were a good value. Good ambience for a date night.
