About POP Champagne Bar & Restaurant
POP Champagne Bar & Restaurant is a warm and welcoming place where friends gather for good times and where dates enjoy a romantic setting. POP is located in Old Pasadena in a historic building that retains many of its original features — brick walls, plank floors, an open- beam ceiling, and Batchelder tiles.
POP’s dinner menu starts with appetizers like jalapeño tuna tartare and beer-battered vegetables, and goes on to include entrée favorites such as champagne chicken, a morel risotto, and filet mignon with truffle mashed potatoes. It also includes salads, cheese and charcuterie platters, and small plates such as pommes frites and a seasonal soup. Our much-praised dessert menu presents classics such as crème brûlée and a soufflé du jour, as well as inventive temptations such as a Meyer lemon tart with homemade basil ice cream. All of our offerings are made in-house, including our breads.

POP Champagne Bar & Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This place is so pretty, which is why I was so FREEEAKIN disappointed with the overpriced, flavorless, borderline nasty food. When we arrived for our reservation, the joint was totally empty, save for one table of young ladies by the window. If you want food alongside your champagne, go elsewhere. My “jalapeño tuna tartar tacos” were so bland, it was like eating fish-scented air. The only thing that was NOT horrible was the live jazz band playing (nights after 7pm, I guess) Ambiance was a 10, champagne was a 3 & food was a HARD ZERO. Sorry for the 1 star review, but good lord...hire a new chef! Rework the menu! Something!! Or else, I can almost guarantee the doors will be closed forever VERY soon.
The first time I went I RSVP'd.
It was just me and my boyfriend at the time for my birthday dinner & we were seated at a booth.
This past time I went with my two friends and they said we didn't meet the minimum for a booth? I was confused as there was 3 of us and the table they sat us at was extremely uncomfortable since they crammed us between two large parties.
The Server was accommodating but regardless that could have been avoided.
Portions are small for the price you pay, much rather go to BJ's & have the same quality of food , have more variety of food and bigger portions.
New spot for brunch in Old Town Pasadena and pleasant surprise. Everything about this place was different, from the decor to the spins on the brunch menu. A salad and desert bar combined with the entree of your choice at a flat price with a $15 dollar option for bottomless brunch drinks. The food was inventive and wonderful and showed much care in thought and preparation; even the bar items were excellent. A lovely kinda of exotic, bohemian atmosphere with funk and soul background music. They even offered to give us boxes to take extra dessert items home . The cooking impressed us so much that we'll be trying it for dinner soon.
POP has a great selection of champagne and the waiters will assist you in selecting one or more that will accompany your meal. We enjoyed the oysters (great with champagne), the ahi tacos, a summer watermelon salad and herb shrimp on polenta. All were delicious and very nicely presented. We even came back after a movie for crème brulee and champagne.
I'm going to say we were excited to try pop champagne due to the menu posted on dinela but it was a slight let down. The jalapeno wonton tacos lacked jalapeno. The filet mignon was over cooked but the chimichurri sauce was full of flavor. The ahi tuna burger wasn't bad but it was missing the flavor wasn't quite there the cookies and cream dessert was amazing but the blueberry souffle was a miss. Overall I don't think we would be back
I wish I lived closer to this place; I'd be here all the time. Coupled with their specialty: various bubblies, they have many wines and even beer or champagne cocktails. I haven't had everything on the menu, but what we have eaten has been delectable. We get the devilled eggs every time because they are so delicious and I love the exotic varieties. Had proscutto wrapped shrimp and we split the creme brulee trio and sat in the window and enjoyed the happy hour ambience. I don't know if it was because it wasn't that busy at the time we were there, but it is one of those rare restaurants these days that you can relax and actually have a conversation in. The owner stopped by to make sure we were having a lovely time. Quite delightful spot.
Went to Pop's for brunch, it was good but there was a party of 35 in the back so it seemed like we didn't get the usual service. everyone was nice just busy. Waiter accidentally dropped bacon on table and said he would get fresh order and then asked if i wanted a fresh order. ((??)
I said it was fine but he gave me the pieces that fell on the table that he picked up with his hands. I didn't think it was dirty, but i didn't eat it. I know how it is touching plates, money and utensils and then my food so i was good. its a nice place for a get together with one or two people or a small group. I like the intimacy of the place.
Food was very good and for not being a buffet for the most part, I left stuffed. Service was understandably a little slow so don't be in a hurry, and there's easy access with public parking across the street. Had a great Mother's Day Brunch and would recommend it.
We went for a girls brunch the day before Mother's Day, decor is cute, seated on time, food was delicious and our server made sure our bottomless champagne, bellini's and mimosas were always a step ahead of us. Our waiter had a toothpick in his mouth and the buffet was awkwardly thrown together on the bar top and was always out of one thing or another. Definitely room for improvement, with that being said, we will without a doubt we will be back.
