This wonderful inn is located in the centre of the pretty little village of Pooley Bridge, only moments from the edge of Ullswater Lake. Our spacious, traditional bar features open fires, free WIFI and a relaxing ambiance, which welcomes both dogs and children. On warmer days, enjoy our pleasant outside tables both in our beautiful front garden, and the peace of the Stable Courtyard away from the village bustle. Call us or pop in and say hello!

Very good food just slow service and took 30 minutes for them to come to us to order food (to avoid kitchen backing up, apparently)

Nice atmosphere although busy. Service was fairly good and food was absolutely delicious. Would definitely return.

Very average experience. Food overpriced bearing in mind quality of offering. Chips hard, scampi the cheapest of frozen food and fish very average. Unlikely to return.

We are 2 adults & teenager went for a Sunday lunch Overall the portions were large unable to get a smaller portion for teenager the size did put her off . Vegetarian Sunday lunch was disappointing was offered roasted cauliflower instead of meat.....no thank you . Took a meal from main menu instead which again was disappointing as I had been looking forward to a nice Sunday lunch . On there menu on line & in restaurant advertised a vegan option . Sorry Pooley bridge Inn you should let customers know , i could of went elsewhere and had a lovely nut roast

We visited on Saturday 19th July in the evening there were 11 of us, 2 adults, 8 teenagers and 1 younger child. Unfortunately I do not feel that what we received was acceptable and I would like to give you some feedback on it. The first issue was the chicken in my kebab was under cooked. When I sent it back the reply I received from the kitchen staff was that “I had cut through a vein in the chicken and that’s why it was pink “. I was quite surprised at the response. This remark then put my little one off her meal as she also had chicken and didn’t like the idea of veins in her food. The other issue with the food was that 4 of the party had the light bites fish and chips. The fish was cooked however the batter was undercooked and very slimey . They were hardly touched due to this reason. We made no fuss and agreed to just pay the bill and go else where to make up for it. Once the bill eventually arrived the gentleman asked was everything ok. I said unfortunately not and that our food was not worth what we were about to pay. His reply was “I’m only working here for a week and I wouldn’t eat in here , I would go over the road” we were all extremely shocked at his response. It did however validate the poor quality of the food that we had been served. I do appreciate that you run a very busy establishment however the quality and the service is certainly not what I have experienced previously.

Our meal on 19/07 was amazing the food was outstanding and it came out very quick, drinks came quick when ordered. The only thing I had was the lady on who was waiting at the door to seat people was a tad rude in my eyes, took at least a good 5/10 her to even acknowledge we were there waiting walked off at least 2 before asking us for booking name, then she said table for 4 over there just pointed didn’t take us and then 5/10 minutes later as we were ordering she came over and said “no I told you over there” which was only two tables away, if she had walked us over to the correct table instead of just pointing we wouldn’t of got the wrong one. Other then this letting the pub down everything else was amazing and would 100% recommend the pooley bridge in.

Food arrived speedily and was excellent. Highly recommend the sweet potato and bean chilli...best nacho dish we've had. Loos were clean. Staff were busy but charming, even the new recruit.

Traditional tourist pub experience. Staff very friendly. Great if you are a dog lover. I'm not. Food basic, but it was what it said on the can. No surprises.

A very friendly and professional employee, who dealt with a sudden and unexpected personal emergency extremely proficiently, was in charge of "meet and greet" when we arrived. Our table server was attentive and we didn't have too long to wait for our food to arrive. It was perfectly cooked and presented, in particular my steak which was cooked just as requested. Very nice surroundings and ambience.
