Pony’s executive chef and team are the masters of the wood fire grill, producing contemporary and modern Australian dishes of the season’s freshest produce since its opening in 2006.

In an open kitchen where Exec Chef Neil Nolan enjoys a chat with our guests, the Argentinian grill fuelled by iron bark takes dominance with the menu created around this masterpiece.

Pony is located in Sydney’s oldest cobblestone laneway within the historic and bustling dining precinct of The Rocks offering inside and outside seating. Our carefully crafted boutique selection of wines and delicious cocktail list complements our a la carte and group menus.

Great portion size for price! And we were lucky enough to secure an inside table although we have sat outside on a shared table, it was lovely to have a different experience inside. Most of all the food was delicious and we were satiated after a starter and main each with a shared side and dessert. With the cost coming in at $230 for 2 people with a cocktail, and 2 glasses of wine, this is a very reasonably priced and excellent choice for special occasions and date nights - on the fancier side with meals sizes that won’t leave you hungry! Highly recommend!

On my booking I requested an inside table and received confirmation by text. On arrival at restaurant they stated an outside table was only available. It was terrible. They stated late that day they sent me another text saying inside table not available, I did not receive that text message. All of my 5 guest complained . I will not go back to the Pony restaurant again.

My partner and I both chose different steaks cooked to medium rare, and always share our dishes. My eye fillet was amazing, partners rib eye was very grisly and hard to eat which was disappointing. Our side dishes of charred broccolini and the other heirloom tomatoes were delicious. The jalapeño margaritas and smoked flatbreads were also delicious.

Excellent service from our hostesses - was able to still seat us despite our reduced numbers (sick friend). Also gave us a post dinner treat on the house. Wonderfully professional and efficient staff. Will return again. Pony is worth visiting at least once a year.
