This place is fantastic for get togethers. Great food and even better ambiance!
Beautiful location and delicious brunch! Wonderful waitstaff !
We have been frequenting the Pond house for many years and have seen it transform into a wonderful place to dine for any meal. Never disappointed with the food or the staff.
We love our “neighborhood gem” nestled in Elizabeth Park. Food is excellent, servers attentive without being too much so, decor for each season always festive & fun, and friendly to gluten free folks! Great for a date, special occasion or “it’s Friday, lets treat ourselves!” Love holiday season Sunday Brunch too!
Friendly efficient service and excellent food as usual
Great brunch. Have gone twice now. The value is excellent.
Though I've been hearing positive reviews about Pond House for years, I cannot recommend it. We were there to celebrate my mom's 93rd birthday. Two of us ordered salmon that was served raw despite requests to cook through. Three of us ordered crab cakes that were, frankly, devoid of crabmeat. We told the waitress of our disatisfaction but she failed to elevate our complaints. The manager learned of our disatisfaction when we told her after we had paid the bill. To her credit, she subsequently took 20% off our bill but that was little recompense for a ruined meal intended to celebrate a special occasion. I will not return to this restaurant.
Been a patron of the Pond House for 12 years and the food and wonderful setting along with knowledgable staff, never disappoint!
We went to The Pond House to celebrate a dear friend's birthday. It was a perfect choice.
We had salads and the couscous vegetables. and a " Kitchen sink" bread pudding. It was a delightful evening.
Once again our visit to the Pond House Cafe was outstanding. Always hard to choose among the delicious menu items. Can't beat the atmosphere of the outdoors, weather permitting. One of the very best dining spots in the Hartford area.
I understand they were hosting a wedding while the restaurant was open the wsit staff seemed disorganized and very forgetful.
Waiter was good but the food took too long and was cold
Ever changing menu so always something new to try. All creative options.
Always very good food and a cozy atmosphere. Very happy with our experience.
Lovely restaurant set in beautiful surroundings. Food was very good at a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend and would come again.
With fall just approaching early Friday evening reservation was a great start so we won't end up having to wait. The portions were perfect, cooking and presentation was good. Going there early helped to have a quieter than normal surrounding so we could chat away without having to worry about others. The background with water and the fountain definitely added to the feel for the place. The serving staff's attention to my individual specifications about how the food (esp the desert and coffee) should be staggered made me feel special.
I will go there again without a second thought - but of course after I make a reservation through open table first :-)
Great flavors. Daily Specials. Regular menu for food and beverages.
Too much dressing on kale Caesar which was good but needed less dressing or more kale, would prefer the latter. Good veggie chili
upon entering the restaurant we had to find a hostess, she unpleasantly informed us it was a 20 min wait. I said we had reservations, she said you do? I saw our name and showed her, she seemed very displeased but seated us anyway. The service was very slow. I asked about bread, was told they didn't bake any that day. One of the specials we ordered was not available, but we weren't informed for at least 10 minutes after the order as placed that they were out of it. Very diappointing
As always, the food was delicious and the service was excellent
I garden setting that surrounds you with beautiful colors and fragrance to tantalize the senses. The food is electric and always good
Visiting my son who is new to the neighborhood. Without a doubt, we had the best omelette we’ve ever had. The bread and jam was an added bonus. Will definitely be back when visiting.
Great place for brunch. Loved the ginger tea. I had the apple and brie omelette which was very good. The potatoes were way too spicy though, so I would ask for less spices next time.
Beautiful outdoor patio, terrific healthy and delicious food
Great place to go, but it wasn’t this time around. Our server was not the best and lacked the courtesy that we expected. The food was good but a bit pricey for the portions - especially the appetizers. Would go again in the hopes of a different server!
Lovely patio dining. Wonderful seasonal menu with attentive service.
Coming to The Pond House is always like coming home to us. It's a 3 minute drive or a 15 minute walk, located in beautiful Elizabeth Park, adjacent to our neighborhood of the West End of Hartford. We've been coming for dinner, lunch, brunch and have used their event space for family gatherings, from a Bat Mitzvah to a 90th birthday to a Memorial Celebration for almost 20 years. Dinner this past Saturday night was excellent. We started by sharing a tuna poke appetizer; then my husband had a salmon niçoise salad, while I had grilled duck breast with a corn succotash. All delicious!
Though we didn't have it this time, I love their Brussels Sprouts Caesar Salad too! Pond House, Louis Lista, the owner, and the whole staff are amazing!
The veal chop was excellent and the savory flan was an excellent accompaniment.
Food was really good. veggie chili soup was great. salmon with horseradish was cooked as ordered. medium. nice presented.
Indian rice very good, flavorful and not too spicy. Duck breast probably slightly over cooked med well instead of med but still a good dish.
server dropped one of the items from the serving plate to the table. Rather than replacing the item she picked up the dropped food from the table top and only came back with one item. Makes me wonder if she returned with the same one that dropped to the table on a new plate :)
My husband and I had dinner at the Pond House Café in West Hartford, Connecticut on Saturday, September 8, 2018.
As always, the food was high quality, nicely prepared and delicious. The portions were also quite generous. My husband had the Mom’s Meatloaf with chicken noodle soup. I had a combination of mac and cheese, house salad and garden vegetable soup. We both really enjoyed our meals.
The service was very good with both our hostess and waitress being very friendly, polite and attentive. We had a 5:00 pm dinner reservation and were seated right away. We were also waited on and served our meals relatively quickly.
The atmosphere at the restaurant was very relaxing with comfortable seating at a nice table on the porch where we were able to enjoy the beautiful flowers on the patio.
We have enjoyed many meals at the Pond House for both lunch and dinner, including such entrees as braised short ribs, Osso Bucco, meatloaf (prepared different ways), salmon, the Pond House burger with fries, crab crest salad, their house salad as well as mac and cheese. The Pond House is a great restaurant with a nice variety of different type of entrees, even gluten-free items.
We highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to going back again. We like going for a late lunch (at 4:00 PM) or an early dinner (at 5:00 PM) in order to avoid the traffic getting there and the busy times at the restaurant. These times have been great, both nice and relaxing for us!!
Unique menu and great chef and staff, combined with a wonderful audience add up to a great night out.
Curry rice dish tasted awful and was up all night with indigestion. Should have stuck with a salad.
The food was impeccable as always. There are always interesting and new items on the menu. Sadly they did not have Mrs. Astor’s chicken salad so I tried something new. The service was wonderful.
Absolutely delicious food. Substantial amount of food for a very reasonable price. Will definitely keep coming back.
Good food. Good service. Nice atmosphere. Good for all occasions.
Wonderful location and ambience and outstanding service. We went for restaurant week. It was all good, just not great. Dessert pastries were disappointing.
The salmon was good. The salads were ok. I like more greens in my salad. The sangria was just ok. I was not happy that my beet salad came with nuts, even though I requested no nuts!
The chorizo empanadas were disappointing, but the other dishes were very tasty. Beautiful plating for all dishes. As usual, the service was excellent.
One of my favorite spots. Great value. Love the hot ginger tea!
