We had a fabulous brunch, excellent food and pleasant staff however there was a wait when we arrived for our reserved table.
Good food. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars on food is because I added chicken to my salad and it was not delivered. The regular size salad was big enough that I decided not wait and add the chicken.
Everything was Great! We had roasted Brussels and Mini Crab Cakes to start and for the main course we both had MomMa’s Meatloaf!!! I told the waitress to tell MomMa it was great! Service was great from our greeting through dinner.
My husband, daughter and I had a late lunch/early dinner at the Pond House Café in West Hartford, Connecticut on Wednesday, April 18th. As I have written in previous reviews, the food and service were both excellent, as they have always been in the past. Kyle, our server, provided great service and even remembered the entrees that we ordered in the past. Monica, our hostess, resolved an issue that we had with our OpenTable reservation, which allowed us to get the applicable points on OpenTable. As always, the food was high quality, nicely prepared and quite delicious. The portions were also generous. The table that we sat at, which was next to the windows, was spacious, comfortable and very relaxing.
We have enjoyed many meals at the Pond House for both lunch and dinner, including such entrees as braised short ribs, Osso Bucco, meatloaf, salmon, the Pond House burger with fries, crab crest salad, their house salad as well as mac and cheese. The Pond House is a great restaurant with a nice variety of different type of entrees. We recommend this restaurant and look forward to going back again. We like going for a late lunch (at 4:00 PM) or an early dinner at (5:00 PM) in order to avoid the traffic getting there and the busy times at the restaurant. These times have been great, both nice and relaxing!!
Food very good as usual. Service much better than usual although food arrived a bit cool. We enjoy sitting in their porch room although it is noisier there. Our friend brought two 12 oz bottles of hard cider for which they charged $10 corkage fee each. Absurd. We complained and they reduced corkage to $10 for both bottles
An absolutely satisfying brunch, for so many reasons. Food, service, and atmosphere all excellent.
Had an 8 pm reservation yet we were not seated until about 8:15. When we entered the dining room, there were so many tables available, we were not certain why it took so long to seat us. We sat another 10-15 minutes without someone coming over to take greet/ give menus/ take drink order. Waitress kept disappearing for long periods of time. A waiter actually came to our table to take our dessert order, as he noticed us sitting with a glazed look in our eyes. Total time of meal was 1 hour and 45 minutes... much too long and too late. Very unhappy with the service but the food was good. Not worth the lack of attention by staff!!!
Great food and quiet atmosphere. Outside dining ( weather permitting) is picturesque. After the meal, walking the grounds and seeing the flowers is refreshing.
It’s easy to book via Open Table but the Pond House doesn’t offer O.T. points. Really!
I am always happy with this venue, and with little things on the menu like the Very ginger infused iced tea.
Our server was good, but the delay from kitchen was terribly excessive on a week night with cafe less than half full. When the food finally arrived it was dried out and nearly inedible. The sweet potatoes were undercooked and meatloaf hard as a rock. Filling for blueberry pie was perfection, but crust too thick.
The Pond House is one of my favorites. Love the cleverly prepared dishes!
We liked our server. She was attentive, had a sense of humor and responded to extra wishes with grace and timely. The Brussel Sprouts were amazing, crunchy, tasty and well balanced with the nuts and cranberries. Loved the ginger drink.
Service was chaotic - not sure if they were attending to the adjacent wedding. Interior space was a bit drab. The outside dining or pond view rooms would seem to be better options. Will try again in the warmer months. Food was varied and well prepared. Crab salad was quite good.
Neighborhood gem however, food is average. They make up for it with their service, ambiance.
Pork Ossa Bucco was slightly overcooked. Lots of Pork dishes on menu. BYOB still a plus ! Bread was good as were sides risotto.
Waitress was surly and essentially unhelpful. Waiter who stopped by was a delight.
My husband and have different preferences in food and we were both extremely satisfied with the choices we made.
Took my aunt and cousin to dinner. They loved it.
I like this place but service was slow and food - although good - was lukewarm...
Everything about our meal, from drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts were creative, and flavorful. Highly recommend.
I’m a frequent flyer at this place. We went here with Pond_House cash and got an excellent meal for a very good price. While the food was terrific and innovative the service was, and typically always is, just plain awful. The servers were fine, competent, and well-meaning. There just are painfully few of them. We waited an hour and a half for our meal to come. After many years of being regulars here we’re beginning to think it’s time to quit.
Everything was exceptional! Returning Saturday for dinner again. Never had a bad experience at the Pond House Cafe. Service and food quality always excellent!!!
Food was great. It took quite a while to get our food but but once we got it we were very satisfied.
We were seated prior to the table next to us, but they got drinks, bread, and their orders, and appetizers all before even our order was taken. All the food was very good with excellent presentation. Short rib seemed a little more like a pot roast, but still good.
Always fresh, intriguing food with friendly staff. Proud to take out of town guests here too!
We have been dining at the Pond House regularly for over 12 years. Unlike some of the places in West Hartford center, which are loud and fast paced. The Pond House offers wonderful acoustics, cozy seating and great food choices. Though the menu may not have as many choices as some people would like. Less is better! When you factor in the house specials, which are chefs choice and always changing. And they also offer BYOB as well as a very good selections of beers and wines.
The server was very attentive. The food and wine were great .
Great food as usual. Very friendly staff. Will be back soon.
Excellent food and service. We were seated with a view of the pond and enjoyed seeing ducks swimming around in March while we were warm inside. Portions were perfect and the price was right!
We went for brunch with three couples. Our server, Kyle, was friendly and most importantly patient. I never felt rushed as we caught up with our friends. Brunch on Sunday is BYO wine/bubbles, with a small corkage fee. A great way to make brunch affordable.
Service was awful on Saturday Night. Food was mediocre. Not planning to return anytime soon.
Friendly service and great food as always! Pond House is my family go to when we want to meet up for a good meal.
Excellent food and friendly, prompt service. One suggestion: The caliber of the mixed drinks has dropped off of late.
Great little spot with a variety of foods!
Diverse menu, from appetizers through desserts. Excellent waitstaff friendly and very efficient. Love dining here any time of day.
My sister and I had a wonderful brunch at Pond House Cafe. We sat in the sunroom, overlooking the pond. It was truly delightful. Artistic table setting, excellent food, reasonable prices and a great server. We have already told many others about our experience, and we will be back soon and often. Thank you!!
The food at The Pond House is always delicious and ever-changing which makes each visit unique. Our server Kyle was (once again) incredibly gracious and helpful with his recommendations and is an absolute delight. Ask for him by name in your reservation , you will not be disappointed in the service or the food.
Great food and service. Setting for Valentines dinner in the banquet room was done nicely. Tables were well spaced allowing for pleasant "low noise' conversations.
Sluggish service. Mediocre food
excellent food quality, value and presentation. First-rate waitperson service.
