Pomodoro Rosso
Great essential NYC Italian cuisine in a small intimate venu with space enough to feel safe and very well prepared dishes
This is a great place seventh grade Italian food. Nothing pretentious. Down to earth Good food and staff
Wonderful service as always and very happy to see Pomodoro up and running! Thank you for an excellent dinner
Very friendly and professional staff! Food was absolutely delicious. Management is very kind, genuine, and caring. We greatly appreciated their hospitality. The outdoor dining option is clean and well-heated.
food was amazing, could use a bit more heat lamps but otherwise wonderful meal
Pomodoro Rosso has done an outstanding job creating a warm, welcoming outdoor dining spot on the UWS! They even installed baseboard heating to keep customers warm! The food was served piping hot and was delicious. This is a great outdoor dining option on the UWS.
I was disappointed with the measures taken for COVID. For example, they are still using regular printed menus and 4 walls of plastic with only a door cutout for ventilation. The heaters were functional and lighting was good. Food wasn't as good as usual. The service was attentive.
Good outdoor dining experience. Heat lamps were adequate but not great.
Excellent service and food. Comfortable outdoor dining.
Amazing!!!
Appetizers...main and dessert fantastic!!
Great ambiance!!
Best Italian on the upper westside!!
Always the most amazing experience here!
It’s a wonderful neighborhood restaurant, one I used to love going to for lunch when I worked in the area, and one I miss now that I’m not there as often. The seafood pasta dishes are delicious, the wait staff warm and attentive.
One of my favorite restaurants in the city. The staff is amazing!
We sat outside in 30 degree weather and it was great. they built a great structure so we felt very safe and comfortable. Food was authentic and very good. We will be back
I've been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years (although delivery more often than dining in) and today is probably first time I'm not giving 5 stars. With the number of COVID rising, I hoped Pomodoro Rosso would take more precautions. It's not their fault a sick looking person walks in and dines in. With so many empty tables, I was surprised to see them sitting this person so close to us. I noticed him coughing and sound sick right away (of course, I don't know if he was indeed sick and contagious but he didn't sound good). I asked the waiter to move us to another table and he kindly did. I could not help but noticing this customer the whole time throughout the dinner. Him coughing, using a lot of profanity (while they were 3 kids in the restaurant), and his mind was obviously full of COVID because that was the only thing he seemed to be talking about. I ate as fast as I could and left. BUT if there was COVID spread from this event, I realized this place did NOT do any contact tracing measures (e.g., writing down contact info) like other restaurants allowing indoor dining would! Also, no temperature check at the door. Again, it's not their fault if a sick person visits, but they could do take those measures to at least discourage a sick person from walking in. Other than that, the staff and the food were lovely as always. I deeply care for this neighborhood gem and hope they survive this hellish pandemic.
Wonderful host & waitstaff.
Great food!!
Favorite place in the neighborhood.
fabulous food and service--my favorite marinara sauce in the city. Whenever we think we might leave NYC, we realize great places like Pomodoro are still here--we wouldn't find anything close, anywhere else.
Great food, attentive waiter and cozy ambiance! So glad to have found this Italian spot in my neighborhood.
We were pleasantly surprised to find such a great place in our neighborhood. We started with the fried calamari which was crispy but soft inside. The paparadelle with lobster, shrimp, and shitake mushrooms was quite good. The trout almondine special also very good. We topped off the meal with a very tasty Barolo. An exceptional experience overall.
We were pleasantly surprised at our meal at Pomodoro Rosso. It doesn’t look real fancy from the outside, but the food was very good. We requested outdoor dining and the set up was pretty good. I’m glad we had a reservation for outside, because we were the last table.
The steamed artichoke was delicious, but my trout was dry. My daughter had the vegan eggplant meatballs and loved them. My husband and our friend both ordered the veal chop parm and said they were very good. Servings were large.
Really good and the music was an added bonus!
Food and service are always excellent at this spot. Favorite Italian in the UWS and the city!
Experience was great. My date enjoyed the evening. The staff was tentative and nice. I did feel abit exposed on the sidewalk. The down side was my filet of beef was sadly over cooked to well done and dredged with salt. Not even palatable.
We love this place. Peter, the owner, is always there and he oversees everything. It’s a wonderful neighborhood Italian restaurant and we always feel very welcome. The food is top quality and consistent. We bring friends and relatives as we always know they’ll have a great meal.
My husband and I enjoy Pomodoro tremendously. It’s our go-to place.
We were glad to see that Pomodoro, a neighborhood favorite, is surviving in this time of plague. The food and wine were excellent, the wild salmon was perfectly cooked medium as requested. My friend had bow tie pasta with salmon and said it was very good. The salad greens were fresh and tender, the way I like it. We sat outdoors with good overhead protection. The service was excellent and the waiter was helpful and cheerful.
Each year we have a few special occasion dinners at Pomodoro and has been our son's favorite for his birthday dinner 3 years running. I am always impressed with how attentive the service is, including check-ins from the manager/owner, who is very friendly and helpful. We have ordered most items on the menu and it is comprehensively delicious. We have 3 little kids, and despite being a very nice restaurant, the kids are always treated patiently. Especially during these rough times for restaurants, we love Pomodoro and encourage anyone interested in fantastic Italian food and great service to enjoy a wonderful meal there.
So glad my husband and I wandered in after a move. It’s become our favorite spot for a celebration or just a nice evening out. Great menu and everything we’ve had has been great. Love the friendly, unfussy warmth Pomodoro offers.
Always a favorite!!
There were five of us and we all ordered different entrees. We all agreed that the food was excellent, served hot and the server was very accommodating.

This is the last time we'll go there. Over the years, it was really lovely, but no longer. Everything has changed, even the food. Sorry Peter, but something isn't right and you're not correcting it. Having discussed this with a few friends and neighbors, they too have said the same thing. Fortunately, there are other restaurants. Having said this, it saddens us to not say it's one of our favorite places any longer. Good luck !
Met friends from out of town. We were able to sit, eat and visit and talk easily. We all had a very pleasant afternoon and I would go again A friend recommended the restaurant and I am glad she did.
Good food, nice neighborhood Italian restaurant
Food was delicious! A lot of options outside your typical "spaghetti bolognese".
I always enjoy dinner at Pomodoro. Never fails to satisfy.
Always delicious, pleasant and accommodating! Real neighborhood jewel.
Thank you Peter and Staff. Another great meal!
Excellent service. Excellent wine. Excellent food, especially the bread! A bit pricey, but probably the norm for that part of the City. Only real negatives were the crowded seating and the volume. If tested, I would get 100 on the content of the conversations of the people sitting next to us. We could hear one another okay at our own table, but it was loud. When having a nice piece of sea bass, I don't haven't to learn at what age the woman next to me lost her virginity.
Pomodoro used to be a wonderful Italian restaurant with beautiful murals and ambiance. The ambiance is the best thing about this restaurant now. The food is so mediocre and used to be wonderful. It is way over priced. We had a small kale salad with beets and goat cheese $16. I ordered lobster ravioli in cream sauce and I was handed 6 medium sized raviolis drowning in cream sauce $37. To make matters worse the ravioli tasted like I bought it in the frozen section of my grocery store. Not good at all. I sent it back and didn’t get anything else I was so disappointed. The best thing they have is their focaccia bread with garlic olive oil to dip. I won’t be going back.
