Great service and good food. Great location for shows at the Beacon.
Somehow, new staff member wasn't as well trained yet, as the wonderful ones are, but we can overlook it, this time. We've never had a bad meal at the restaurant and never had poor service. Wish that patrons would realize that not everyone is interested in their loss conversations and cell phone talk, We there to enjoy, to eat and not have to shout over some loud mouths. This is not the restaurant's fault, just now and then some very rude people.
Tasty food, good service but we had to wait too long to be served our main courses.
Excellent food but very tight seating.
We were welcomed warmly and offered a choice of seating, even tho it was a saturday evening and it was very busy. The food was delicious and plentiful. The staff, from maitre d’ to waiter to cleaning crew, was friendly, helpful, patient and the whole experience was utterly delightful!
Great neighborhood restaurant. Went on a Saturday and the crowd was enormous -- we ate outside, so the noise level was adequate. Server was very helpful and pleasant, food was delicious.
A neighborhood gem. Outstanding food. Warm but professional service. It is always consistently terrific
We had wonderful food. Service was quick to get us off to our show on time.
Pomodoro is my go-to place for dining before the opera. It is comfortable, unassuming, and the food is consistently excellent. My major concern is that as others discover it's brilliance, I will no longer be able to get a table. TJL
I've lived in the neighborhood for years but never tried Pomodoro Rosso before. My loss. The food is wonderful and plentiful. My party of three required some extra help and the most accommodating maitre d was up to the challenge. We had a reservation for 8:00 PM on a Saturday night so the restaurant was extremely busy. One of my group wanted to sit outside so I asked the maitre d if he could change us to an outside table. He looked and said it would be about 15 minutes. We said fine. The third of our group arrived and nixed the outside idea. So I asked the maitre d about inside tables. Our reserved table was taken but he had one that was just finishing. So there we landed. I have never experienced such outstanding service! I look forward to many more delicious meals (and hopefully less drama) at Pomodoro Rosso.
Lacking some better spirits this time, unfortunately. Waitstaff is always the best, very efficient and attentive.
Wonderful local place I should have discovered years ago. I've been there 3 times in one month and never disappointed. Good food, service and reasonable wine offerings.
Good food and great service. Always a reliable choice!
We have eaten here many times and it has always been delicious but this time, we this time we were disappointed. My mother ordered a veal dish and the meat was not at all tender, like it had been cooked for too long. My brother ordered the fish special and he thought it was okay but not very flavorful. I ordered a pasta dish with lobster and other fish and the lobster was overcooked. Everyone else enjoyed their meals immensely. It is still a good restaurant.
Yes, but the noise level was too much from a large party and they should have been in the back, not in the front area. Thanks.
It's great again! This neighborhood gem is once again a gem, with the cooking restored to its former quality. Fish dishes are consistently fresh and well seasoned, with good sauces and sides. Pasta and chicken, as well as artichoke, are delicious. The kitchen is always at its best when the owner, Peter, is there. Go and enjoy dinner!
Nice neighborhood place. Sadly our pasta dish was tasteless. And at $31, disappointing. We also ordered mussels in red sauce which did not come with a bread for dipping. Had to ask and then wait for bread. Negronis are always perfectly made.
Delicious dinner once again at Pomodoro. Our favorite neighborhood restaurant. We highly recommend!
As usual excellent meal. Owner personally supervised all our selections to ensure they were right. Lovely time at a lovely restaurant.
One of our favorite restaurants!
Loved this restaurant!!!! I cannot wait to eat there again!
Have already told two others about this relaxed, friendly place. Food was excellent, service good and they left us alone for a very long lunch. If they have it when youvisit try the fried artichoke dor the table, beautifully done and easy to share.
many times been there, very good food, tasty and creative. service is excellent as well.would definitely come back.
I love Pomodoro Rosso. It's a great neighborhood place with excellent food, everything fresh and tasty.
I especially like the sole almandine. I have never been disappointed with anything that i ordered.
Food was excellent
This has been my favorite Italian restaurant for the last 26 years. It is consistently great. One of the critical reasons for its success is that it's owner, Peter, is very hands on and is on site managing his fine establishment. The food is outstanding. The service is awesome. The people who eat there are likely, like me, regulars for a very long time. You will have a great experience. Go.
I never like to leave a negative review. The night started out with confusion while checking in. Once seated it took awhile to order a drink and get menus. The first course was Burrata with figs. It was very good. Thought we were in for a nice meal. I ordered the soft shell crab special . The underside of the crab was burned. The stuffing of shrimp was the consistency of baby food. Not appealing. The red sauce did not have much flavor. My husband had the braciole. It was good, just not great. We will not be returning. Too many choices here in NY.
Friends who formerly lived in NYC recommended this jewel. My husband and I celebrated my birthday with lunch at Pomodoro. The meal exceeded my expectations.
A go to for Italian on the UWS. In line with the neighborhood (which means a bit pricey for what you actually get--- rent is an issue and is reflected in the price!)
We had a lovely time, everything was tasty: old school eggplant rollatini appetizer (large enough to share) , a tricolore salad, veal, salmon, gemelli with verdure, and a classic caesar. We were there for a dinner meeting, and were able to hear one another, but I wish there was an area in the house providing a much quieter option. Always friendly and attentive service.
Just enjoyed the evening
The veal chopped stuffed with cheese and smothered with portobello mushrooms never disappoints. And I love dining at the bar.... cozy and intimate, with attentive service (and sports on TV).
consistently good food-accomadating-noise level acceptable
We have lived on UWS for 25 years and loved Pomodoro for as long as we can remember. We have brought every family member and friend we know for almost every occasion to eat here. We love the friendly staff, and the food is always spot on! We are moving to the west coast and this was our last visit to Pomodoro. We will truly miss it, and wish everyone there and its patrons to continue enjoying it for years to come!!
We love Pomodoro- the food is delicious! Service is wonderful and it is consistently good.
Food took a long time, salmon was overcooked. Probably would suggest sticking to pasta if I were to come back. Paying a lot for not the best quality. Had to ask for water about 3 times before someone actually got around to doing it.
Nice neighborhood restaurant with delightful patio. Service was friendly, they were extremely accommodating with menu (offered to build whatever meal you wanted).
Delicious bread. Extensive menu. All good and service was excellent. Thanks.
One of my wife and my favorite italian restraunts in new york for years. Just really tasty, traditional italian food in a relaxed atmosphere. Love going there whenever we are back in town.
Great friendly service. I’ve never had a bad meal there.
Getting together with an old friend. I always recommend my neighborhood Italian resturant, Pomodoro!
