Arrabbiata sauce is supposed to be spicy and hearty. I had a little mild tomato soup drizzled on my penne. Total disappointment.
Solid go to restaurant on the uws
Extremely yummy Italian food. Great ambiance, and the interior will make you feel like you're in Italy. Next time I'm in NYC, I'm going back here.
Great food, service, and neighborhood atmosphere. Hard to find at a reasonable price point in NYC. Wish there were more restaurants like this one!
Love pomodoro. Great cozy quality Italian food.
Sehr aufmerksame Kellner, hervorragend gutes Essen zu handelsüblichen New Yorker Preisen.
Excellent lunch at this neighborhood gem. Highly recommend
Dispit an accident with spilled red wine this is a place I will go back at. Have been here two times before!
This is a warm and inviting neighborhood restaurant with a wide variety of comforting Italian dishes. The portions are large and there is something for everyone on the menu. Now that they take reservations, it is so much more pleasant to arrange for a table as the waiting area in the front of the restaurant is very narrow and can get crowded. I hadn't been there in a long time because of their no reservations policy but now I will be going back to enjoy their delicious food and wine.
This is our go to choice when we go to a performance at Lincoln Center. The food is good and well priced for the area, the service is efficient and we are always in our seats with plenty of time before the curtain goes up.
I went to Pomodoro Rosso with my two daughters on a Saturday evening before the opera. Our meals were delicious. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. And we received the prompt service we needed to make our curtain time. My only complaint was that the restaurant was very hot which made our dining a little uncomfortable, and I am not generally inclined to being hot - it was a somewhat unseasonably warm night, which may have affected the ability to regulate the restaurant's temperature properly. Despite the uncomfortable temperature, I would be willing to give Pomodoro Rosso another try.
We are regulars here! The staff is terrific and always the same wonderful group which says a great deal. There are always interesting and exciting special dishes as well as a menu full of so many choices. After many years we still have Pomodoro Rosso on the top of our list! No wonder this restaurant is constantly busy.
The restaurant is a neighborhood type place. Small but nice. The food is very good and the service was efficient. Nice place for a good meal.
Amazing food, excellent service! A great value for dinner in NYC in a relaxed, family atmosphere. Will definitely return to try more of the menu!
Lovely ambiance; great food and service. We’ll highly recommend.
We had a delicious lunch and it was quiet enough for talking.
Fresh food. Nicely presented. Liked cozy atmosphere. Loved the fact that you can get items other than usual brunch items for brunch. Liked idea if entree type dishes for brunch.
Wonderful service, excellent food and great checkered table cloths. We will become regulars
Haven't been disappointed yet and it's been several years now.
mixed: the salad and shrimp-with-veggies and tartuffo and olives were good, it is a very well run place, very old fashioned decor, truly old upper west side locals, gets you fed in time to get the lincoln center. the lamb ragu was only ok. prices moderate.
The food was excellent.
Oh my, we love this place! A friend recommended it last year, and it’s now one of our go-to places when we are in NYC! Food, ambience, location, wait staff...Everything is impeccable. Very enjoyable experience, excellent menu choices, and everything we have ordered is fabulous!
I have been coming here for over 20 years and never had a meal that was not fabulous. Wonderful food, atmosphere, management, staff, ambiance. What can I say.
Meeting with family in city. Everyone happy with location.
Great place to remind you that it’s not only about the food, which was very good, but also the atmosphere and service. I would definitely return. The pasta was great as were the kale salad and polenta.
Servers were courteous and solicit; we did not have to wait for our table even if the restaurant was crowded. The ambience is warm and cozy and it looks like an Italian trattoria. The food was tasty and the wine good, but I would not go back. I found the food tremendously overpriced for the type of simple Italian-American fare that they serve, even taking into account Manhattan prices.
Waitstaff excellent. Food very good, ample portions. very popular, very crowded. Would definitely recommend. Overall a really good dining experience.
Delicious food and great location to get to Lincoln center for events. Staff was great at getting us our food quickly so we could enjoy and not be hurried. The portions are large and splitting was fine which we also appreciated!
I had the lobster thermador which was fantastic. I savored every bite. It was Valentines day and no one was rushed. This is a neighborhood treasure
Our Valentine meals were the absolute best ever. My sweetheart and I shared the special arugula salad. For our entrees, I had the cheese ravioli with asparagus, broccoli and spinach is a vodka sauce. My husband had the veal chop with provolone cheese and pasta all’olio. Both dishes were perfect and with enough leftover to take home for the next day. For dessert we shared the Italian ice cream sundae with cappuccino flavored gelato, chocolate fudge, whipped cream and biscotti. Everything was just delicious. Thanks Pomodoro Rosso!
Valentines Day dinner. Excellent as usual
We had reservation for 8 and we had to add 7 more. They were very accommodating. The food and service were awesome.
I cannot wait to go back to Pomodoro Rosso. The staff was attentive. We requested an item modified with out salt - It came out perfect. Highly recommend the Veal Parm and the Wild Salmon with Bow tie pasta. The plate of Biscotti was plentiful and delicious. Perfect with their brewed coffee.
excellent food and service but felt a little rushed
This was our first time dinning @ Pomodoro Rosso. From the time we entered the restaurant until the time we left, the service was exceptional. Never did we have to flag down anyone for anything! We started our meal with the mozzarella tomato and basil appetizer then enjoyed the fresh Tricolore salad. Onto the main courses....eggplant parmigiana for my husband and chicken parmigiana with side of penne pasta for me. I was pleasantly surprised to find some fresh carrots and green beans under my chicken! We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
We will definitely return!
Hidden gem on the Upper West Side, fantastic food, the staff treat you like you are family
good neighborhood restaurant,we been there many times
Pomodoro offered outstanding service and food, as usual!
My favorite place in NYC for more than 10 years.
Pomodoro never disappoints. We have been neighborhood patrons since it opened in 1993. How many places stay open in Manhattan for 25+ years? That speaks for itself. It's worth the wait when there is one. Fortunately they started taking reservations. It's destination worthy. Food is consistently deliciously prepared and the staff is most welcoming. Go!
