Pomodoro, at 229 Columbus Avenue has been a neighborhood favorite for years. The beautifully prepared Italian classics and excellent service has earned this restaurant a loyal following of Upper West Siders. Beige walls adorned with decorative ceramic plates from Italy, a ceiling trellis with hanging grapes and red and white-checkered tablecloths evoke the feeling of an authentic Italian trattoria. The street side outdoor café is the place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine and savor the antipasti while watching the people stride by.

First time I ever ate inside. Service was excellent. Great Negronis. Polenta, fungi, mascarpone appetizer was fair. Pasta Vongole was good. Cheesecake was awful. Tasteless, dry. I can’t believe I actually ate it. Had I been with different people, I would have sent it back. As a package, I would definitely go back because the food is good snd it is in the neighborhood.

Fast, friendly service. Tasty carbonara, tortellini and other fresh pastas. Fine martini. Not great Caesar salad. Good date night spot. Reasonable.

Among the worst brunches in NYC ever! We got the poached eggs with avocado which were cold. The first cup of coffee was from the bottom of the pot and i had to ask 3 times for another - from different people as our waitress never returned to check in with us. I even had to get up and ask at the front for our check. this with a fairly empty restaurant.

More than your "basic, neighborhood" Italian because the cooking is as good or better than Grandma's Italian at its best; the service is cordial and warm; and the extras like well-made drinks and delicious desserts round out the perfect evening. You always feel like part of the family here and the specials are sometimes spectacular.

The manager or owner, whoever greeted us, was incredibly friendly and say us right away even though we were a bit late. Food was fantastic, and the staff was really attentive.

Paid $13 for the smallest portion of Caesar Salad. It was basically 5 leafs. Ordered the Shrimp parm for $28 - for the size absolutely not worth it.

We had a good experience at this restaurant. The food was classic Italian well executed, and the service was friendly and efficient. We were given a table at the back where we could converse, even though the restaurant was full. The only negative was that the red- checked tablecloths and generally homey style belie fairly hefty prices — I think this was less true in the past, but then their rent has probably increased a lot. It is still a neighborhood resource.
