About Pomerol

Pomerol is a locally owned Fremont neighborhood restaurant serving the best northwest ingredients in a French preparation with a wood fired grill and sunny patio.

The restaurant is named Pomerol, not for the famous wines, but for the unique, private, family owned properties that are still operated as they were 100 years ago. The town is tiny, the restaurants are excellent and the craftsmanship of the local people is amazing. We hope to bring that same feel with food, wine, and craft cocktails. A place that you can walk in and have some of the best meats cooked over a grill or fresh produce prepared in a simple beautiful presentation.

A delightful bistro in Fremont. Arugula salad is terrific.

Pomerol is almost perfect. Food is excellent. Wait staff is attentive but not obtrusive. The problem, and it applies to me but not to many people, is that there is only street parking. If we have to park far away it means that my husband has to push me very far. If we go with other people we can be dropped off at the door while the friends parK. I would recommend Pomerol unconditionally to my friends.

Went there for a date night mid week. It was quiet and allowed for very nice conversation. We are both very into the foodie scene and this place really impressed us. We shared 3 appetizers, one main course and a side. This was just the perfect amount of food for the 2 of us. The service was excellent and I only wish that they were located just down the street. The bar itself looked great for happy hour.

Pomerol has a limited menu but the dishes that we had were excellent. We especially loved the starters which included grilled octopus (highly recommended), a delicious pumpkin soup and a beet salad. We were there during Seattle Restaurant week so this may have affected service and ambience. I would have enjoyed more patient, interested attention from the server.

We went during Restaurant week since we have heard about Pomeral but not tried it yet. The pumpkin soup was rich and peppery, the pork was very good. They have a fire grill so excel in the prep of their meats. The desserts were the least interesting, my chocolate dessert was too sweet and made with a milk chocolate instead of dark. On the whole a very good experience.

Food was attractively presented and overall very tasty. The room is industrial minimal, and I guess okay if you like very noisy, I was hoarse after dinner conversation in elevated voice to be heard across the table. No table cloths nor attempt at elegance. Service was at best cursory, and at times most unprofessional. I had to dodge the rear end of the server who often unnecessarily chose to serve by squeezing in between the narrowly spaced tables. Would be overpriced if it had not been for restaurant week.

A lovely experience, even during busy restaurant week! Unlike many eateries that only offer their cheapest fare during that week, Pomerol was wise enough to showcase some of their best. Their grilled octopus starter was perfection, and both the steelhead trout and pork shank mains were delicious and filling. Service was attentive yet unobtrusive, and their wood beamed ceiling moderated the noise level so all patrons could converse without shouting. We will definitely return, and just hope Pomerol will maintain their high standards as the months go by.

I am sorry , i was just in Paris for 3 weeks. and i was looking forward to a French meal. it was uninspiring. Pumpkin soup tasteless, the "trout" was good, the risotto not so much. The chocolate dessert was just too thick and heavy. our server was boarder line unfriendly. looking away while talking to us. My friend enjoyed it more than i did. i Did not make any comments to her.

My husband and I really enjoyed our meal at Pomerol! Food (grilled octopus and roast chicken), cocktails (Bees Knees) and dessert (bread pudding) were all perfectly prepared and very delicious... My only small complaint was that the drinks and some of the food was a bit slow coming out but this was not a big problem. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. We will be back!

Went for Restaurant week, I had the pork shoulder, was very plentiful and the flavor was great, my husband had the steel-head (trout) this was also cooked very well with great flavors. The pumpkin soup was a delight and the bread pudding for dessert was surprisingly light.

Decent food, a little pricey. Don't get Oysters here, six tiny Oysters smothered in sauce for $17 was pretty disappointing.

Entering the restaurant the aroma from the wood-fired grill is welcoming. The space is cozy. Servers are friendly. The food was extremely well prepared--more French-influenced than French. Salads were delicately dressed yet tasty. The grilled pork shoulder steak was tender and smoky accompanied by perfectly cooked veggies, including an amazing cauliflower puree. The rosti (fried potatoes) were wonderful. Will definitely go back again...soon!

Loved it! Didn't chat much with the host or the waiter, but both of them were super helpful and very knowledgeable about the menu. Absolutely would recommend! The food that came out was great. Anticipate a solid wait for the food, but drinks come quickly. The food, especially meat dishes, were worth the wait.

We were there on Friday evening, when they offer a terrific two course meal for only $30. We enjoyed two combinations:: delicious pate followed by a beautifully prepared pork chop, and a delicious butternut squash soup and a moist and tasty salmon dish. The service is excellent, the wines by the glass are as well. A delightful place to meet friends and enjoy a satisfying meal.

We always enjoy eating at Pomerol. The food is perfectly prepared, and the ingredients are fresh and local. I had the steelhead served atop pureed squash and topped with charred corn and lobster mushrooms. What a marvelous taste combination. C. had the chicken, which she loved. While most of their entrees are gluten-free, they are able and willing to adapt any dish to be gluten free.

Had a wonderful evening here for a splurge dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Our server was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. He even brought us a scoop of the chicken skin ice cream on the house, just for fun...(tastes a bit like buttered popcorn, if you'roe wondering). They do fantastic meats here and have a nice French wine list with mid-range options. The appetizer portions were generous. We look forward to coming back to try happy hour and some cocktails.

We thoroughly enjoyed Pomerol. It was the kind of place where they let you just enjoy your food and chat. The service was friendly but not obsequious. The food was great - raves all around - and the drinks were excellent as well. The tenderloin and roast chicken were particularly delicious. We sat on the deck and it was lovely for a summer evening. It is fancy food in a slightly more low-key atmosphere - perfect to my mind. I will definitely be going back.

We went here for Restaurant Week. They changed the menu from what was posted online--for the better. Hubbard squash soup was delicious, and the Arctic char was exquisite. Pineapple bread pudding was very good but a little too sweet. We had a lovely French Sauvignon blanc. Some wines are 50% off on Wednesdays.

The food there was outstanding. It was fresh Northwest ingredients with a vision of modern French cooking and slight hints of Asian flavors. Very good service and the chocolate terrin was awesome for dessert. Good after drinks and espresso as well. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.

Always good food for the price at pomerol. We go there every few months and the food and drinks are consistent. Typically get the pork blade or chicken and they are both good. My friends love the potatoes with duck fat.

Pomerol is our favorite restaurant, and it is always good to come back to it. If only it had parking we would come often. But with me in a wheelchair it is difficult. The food is great. This time my husband and I each had the pâté first and scallops for the main course. The scallops had some kind of jelly-like stuff to spread over them, and it raised scallops to a whole new level. Our friends had oysters, and they were gleeful because the oysters were nice small tender ones. One of them had the steak, and the other had the roast chicken. Everyone was happy. But, then again, there is no one we know who ever had anything they didn't like. Service was excellent and unobtrusive. Room was attractive, though not opulent. Noise level was too high, higher than I remembered it being. Finally we realized that was because we usually went at five o'clock, and this time we went at six.

The food was good to very good. Simple and well prepared. However, I would not return or recommend a friend due to the poor service. We asked the first waiter simple questions about the menu and one dish in particular that he could not answer. He then sent over another waiter (who may have been manager/owner) and he too could not articulate the dish, prompting us to order sides that were not needed. Meal was over 2.5 hours, which was solely due to the long wait time between courses and it also took us longer than it should to get the check. Service issues could be solved with more staff and better menu education.

Was very pleased overall. It was Valentines Day and Pomerol was offering a prix fixe menu that evening. Each course served was delicious and what was very satisfying was that they were not half-bite tiny servings as sometimes accompany prix fixe menus.

Will certainly return to sample the "regular" menu and would highly recommend Pomerol.

Overall, very nice expierience. Service was very good - attentive. Menu is a little heavy on vegetables for me ("cauliflower puree", etc.) Short rib itself was outstanding and generous. Steak frites (two of us had this) was very flavorful but almost too tough. This was the 3rd time I have been there and I will go back. Overall , quite pleased.

We went to Pomerol about 10 months ago with a party of 6 and it was really great. My wife and I went on Friday night(surprised to get a 8:00 resv). We had great service, a good appetizer but entries were very disappointing. I had the short ribs and they were tough. When I had before they were superb. I would have rather had a much smaller better quality meat serving with more veggies. There was a lot of meat but not good.
Wife was disappointed w Fish stew. Bland.
The other thing we didn't like was the 70s classic rock playing (too loud) in the background. Not really ambiance for fine dining
