Pomelo at The Orchard
Very disappointing meal Pomelo. Started with a reservation snafu resulting in multiple reservations sitting around waiting for an update. Hostess seemed lost. Ultimately got sat 30 mins late, but waited an additional 15 mins for a server to ask for a drink order. Had two appetizers, which were good concepts, but poorly executed. Entrees were equally disappointing, two of the three were brought together while the third was a couple minutes late. All three had cold vegetables, underseasoned proteins and poor execution. Dessert was solid average, but nothing unique.
Overall, love the ambiance and location, but for a place that’s been here for three years, we will not be adding Pomelo to our rotation.
We arrived at the time of our reservation (made on Open Table), and found the reservation was not in Pomelo's system, despite my having received a "Please Confirm", replying with a "Yes we will be there", and my points credit for dining showing up on the mobile app the minute we walked in the door. After a bit of discussion with the hostess, the problem was solved by Bruce (the manager) promptly and to everyone's satisfaction. Kudos to Bruce and to our server Yolanda for their professional handling of this mistake. Please, Open Table, be sure that your system is communicating with the restaurants.
Pomelo is a charming neighborhood restaurant. Comfortable and welcoming, with dependably well-done menu items. I am pleased that I could introduce my out-of-town guests to one of my favorite restaurants.
Fantastic pizza and a bottle of wine offering on Monday and Tuesday's for $25!! Great pizza!
What a wonderful experience on a beautiful Sunday. The food was well prepared and presented in a professional fashion. Cocktails were well made. Service was responsive. Ambiance was so appropriate for a nice Spring day.
Loved our outside table and the food was wonderful!!! Also a great place for us to bring our 1 and 1/2 year old, plenty for him to be distracted by while sitting outside and we can enjoy a lovely dinner.
Absolutely enjoyed the Saturday brunch! The food was fantastic. Recommend the beet salad, cod sandwich and Turkey burger. The ambiance was lovely and relaxing. Our table service was excellent providing timely food delivery and outstanding meal selections. We will definitely make Pomelo one of our favorite restaurant destination.
Really good food and our waitress made perfect recommendations. We asked to have the music turned down and they did. We would definitely come back.
Charming little neighborhood place with a nice patio. Best fish tacos I’ve had in a while.
Very charming surroundings, excellent service--our server was extremely friendly and pleasant. Our food was very good and it is reasonably priced. We will be back!
All-in-all it was as wonderful experience as ever! Only suggestion...consistency in flavors. Though the food is always good, sometimes it is better or worse than previous visits. I will continue to visit and hope consistency improves.
Delicious food...wonderful service! Can't wait until we go again!
The food is fantastic, as is the atmosphere. The service is definitely lacking. The food, however, arrives quickly. It’s just the refills, taking the order, getting the bill that takes forever. Normally the noise is fine, but there was a celebration on the lawn that was quite loud and distracting.
Great location. Love the layout. The pepperoni pizza was fantastic. Great place to hang out with friends and grab a bite.
Brunch was great! Have a bloody mary!
Not too many friends. Its so peaceful and great food.
Had dinner there this past weekend...servers were unobtrusive but quick to help, food was really good, and it was an enjoyable experience. Restaurant is beautiful too
We were two old friends visiting after a year apart. The setting was interesting , the room lovely, the food delicious, and we were allowed to have a leisurely visit, helped by a caring waitress. Thank you.
The Pomelo has a beautiful patio, wonderful food and great service! A reservation is not necessary but definitely recommended. Parking is on site.
Great vaca dinner, special meal, had a great time
Loved the service, seemed to run smoothly especially on Valentines Day. Glad to have chose this place
it was Valentine's Day. the service, food and decor were wonderful. it was my first time there and I will return.
We went on Valentines Day for dinner. We ordered our entrees and appetizers. The appetizer's were delivered in a timely manner. When the appetizer dishes were cleared our server returned to our table and informed us that one of the main courses that we ordered wasn't available. Because of the limited menu offerings on their special Valentines dinner menu we chose to leave. When we were leaving we noticed they were still carrying the no-longer available menu item out of the kitchen. Not sure what the problem was, but it was not handled very well by the restaurant. We've been here before and always had a good experiance. We were lucky that Feeney's Steak House down the street fit us in.
I enjoyed a lovely birthday lunch with my friends. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Phoenix!
We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation, the staff was friendly and they took good care of us. This is a nice stop for a quick meal or for a full dinner - especially if you want to avoid the plastic chain restaurants. The dining room was pleasant and when the weather is good, they have nice outdoor seating.
Had a wonderful meal here. Our waitress was very nice, ambiance was fantastic, you could hear each other talking (great idea with putting padding up on ceiling to keep noise level down), drinks were great and food overall was very tasty. Two minor items - it took a long time to get our first drink delivered, 1/2 hour and one person wasn't thrilled with their meal. But we will be back.
A lovely setting but a strange evening. We arrived on time but our table wasn't ready so we went to the bar to wait. Bar service and drinks were just ok. The three of us were then led to our table, which was two small tables of different heights put together, creating the impression of the kids' table at Thanksgiving...
Once our server, Heather, arrived, everything was great. She took good care of us, and the Brussels sprouts, short ribs, and Ahi salad were excellent meal choices. The evening ended well, but it sure got off to an odd start: The restaurant didn't seem ready for us despite a reservation, and the bartender seemed like he had better things to do.
You know something's wrong when you arrive at the time of your reservation, the room is half empty and you're told you have to wait 20 minutes for your table. Food was just OK - short ribs were very fatty, "special" vegetarian pasta was dry and tasteless. The server was trying and we appreciated that, but next time we'll just come for ice cream.
Came with my 17 year-old daughter. We were first-timers. We loved it! Looking forward to returning when it’s warmer outside so we can enjoy the patio and courtyard.
Nice atmosphere, good service & food, need more parking.
Food was fabulous! Service great! Only disappointment was that there were some key items on menu that were not available! Will certainly return.
I would "probably" recommend Pomelo.....only because I'm willing to give it another chance. We were there on a Saturday for lunch and the restaurant was almost empty the entire time, yet the parking lot in front was full. Go figure! Perhaps staff parking there? It's a very pleasant restaurant from an interior design viewpoint. Unfortunately, the food was very average. I ordered a veggie omelet....nothing special about it al all. 2 of my companions had dined there before and both ordered the French Dip. Their comment was, "Not nearly as good as the last time we had it." The other companion ordered the Ahi Tuna Salad and said it was very good. Our experience seems to coincide with other reviews I read: The quality of the food is "spotty." Sometimes really good, other times not. It sounds like they have a kitchen/chef issue to work out. Sure hope they do.
Terrific spot. We just popped in for a min-week dinner and were very impressed. The service was attentive, the food excellent, parking really easy and decent. All-in-all a really great spot.
Love the restaurant, food and service are very good.
Great place to visit with friends,
Server was very attentive and friendly. However food was lacking. My mahi-mahi was way undercooked and the sauce was very salty and not a good flavor. Husband’s pork chop was dry. Friend ordered French dip sandwich with rare meat and meat was served over cooked. Will probably not be back.
This was our first visit and we really enjoyed it! Our waitress was fantastic and the food was equally as good. The only downside was the parking. There were two events going on, wedding shower and birthday party, and it was very crowded. We almost had to leave after twenty times around the lot. So glad we were persistent, it was well worth it.
Food was delicious and awesome ambiance. Would highly recommend! A++*
Always a delicious meal, excellent and attentive service, and a beautiful venue. Can't wait for my next reason to go to The Orchard!
We now have a birthday tradition. Every Jan it's Pomelo's for the wine and pizza special. The pizza is gourmet and the wines are excellent. We love the outdoor area when outdoor dining is in season and we come here often, not just for birthdays. This is my favorite place to eat in Phoenix.
Fabulous patio and excellent service. The Pizza/Wine Monday/Tuesday is a great deal!
Very enjoyable! Great setting, beautiful day for eating on the patio. Food was delicious and our waitress was excellent. We did have to ask three times, however, to receive honey for our English muffins. Maybe they were understaffed or super busy. Coffee tepid but overall, great brunch and we will return and would recommend Pomelos to others.
