I was disappointed in our meal. We had a very expensive $40 halibut that was bland. The lobster ravioli was better but not memorable.
Food was really good. Loved the Artichokes wrapped in Speck. Yum. Had the Mushroom Risotto, Lobster Ravioli special, Bronzino and Lasagna. All delicious.
Peanut butter / chocolate dessert was outstanding.
Dinner was excellent. Outdoor for dinner seating still pleasant in October. No kids menu, but we managed. Highly recommended!
My husband and I were visiting and it was a beautiful Fall night in Avalon. We sat outside and the heat lamps were great. The food was delicious - get the artichoke appetizer (yummy).
Delish! Always great service and food 💙
We were outside under a great fixed awning with heat lamps along the wall of the building. The sidewalk had large planters with tall plants shielding the diners. Very, very pleasant for Avalon
Three meals were perfect, veal chop came out lukewarm and was sent back.
Sat outside, it was comfortable.
Wait staff seemed understaffed.
Food was excellent and the service was excellent because it was a rainy night, little or no outside dining, and the waiters were not having to run around crazily.
Great service and food was terrific! LOVE this place
we have been to polpo several times this summer and each and every meal was fabulous. this was no different but the service was very slow
Sat inside, not much going on (due to COVID, I’m sure) way too bright inside, no music and not much to look at.
Salads great, bread outstanding, Mentor our server was great.
This is a fantastic restaurant-both food and service were excellent. It was my first visit but won’t be my last.
Had a lovely dinner outside. They have set up a hedge barrier to the street which makes it feel that you're somewhere else in the world.
They were late in reservations, could not find a hostess, very poor covid precautions (over crowded, not separation, etc). We are generally not COVID worriers, but this just felt too unsafe. We ate there in Aug and felt very comfortable and safe and had a great meal. The whole atmosphere this time was more of a hot mess, we eventually got up and left.
Our waiter was extremely rude and overwhelmed. The food was great, but the waiter made our experience not so enjoyable. Maybe try again when it is less crowded.
OVERBOOKED AND NOT FOLLOWING ANY RESEMBLANCE OF SAFETY PROTOCOLS. FOOD COLD BECAUSE NOT ENOUGH SERVERS. FRONT DESK WAS RUDE WHEN YOU COULD EVEN FIND THEM. NOT SEATED FOR AN HOUR PAST OUR RESERVATION TIME AND WASNT GOING TO HONOR OUR REQUEST TO SIT OUTSIDE, DESPITE THE FACT I HAD CALLED TWO HOURS PRIOR TO CONFIRM THAT WE WOULD BE OUTSIDE. WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK - MUCH BETTER OPTIONS WITHOUT ALL THE ATTITUDE
The wait for glasses and order to be taken was way to long.. beet salad was not what expected and don’t know what the veal Marsala was! tough with brown gravy!!!Terrible. Gnocchi with peas and crabmeat please..aThis dish had neither...
Great food. We love the restaurant.
Had a very good traditional Osso Buco and my table partner enjoyed the chicken francese with good service. Looking forward to our next visit.
The food and service were excellent. We sat outside, and it was lovely. Always love the octopus, as well as our other food.
Too crowded; had to wait too long to be seated and staff seemed overwhelmed ... food is good but experience was not
Restaurant was very crowded, good for them but even with a reservation we waited at least 15 minutes. After we were seated, it took almost another 10 minutes before anyone greeted us. We had no silverware or napkins on table and that took time after our appetizers were delivered. They obviously were in the weeds. Food came out quickly and water was poured promptly. We enjoyed ourselves, it is quite loud but we went on the later side so by the time we left it was much better.
Food was excellent, very delicious! Service was fair at best. Waited 30 minutes past our reservation time and then waited another 20 minutes once seated to get wine glasses for our BYOB. Waiter was inattentive and seemed to not even care about providing service. P.S. - I still left a nice tip as I expect tips are shared w kitchen staff. May give Polpo a second try as this may have been an anomaly for them.
Went here on a quiet Monday in the fall and the restaurant did not disappoint. Food was great, excellent selection on the menu & the specials and impeccable service. It's a lovely atmosphere for a date night or a family dinner.
Service was attentive, food was very good (the chief knew what he/she was doing), worth money spent
We always enjoy this restaurant but were a bit surprised this time to see that a 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill for our party of 4. Our server never pointed it out so I would suggest if people are dining there, they check their bills before paying. We ended up giving a $110 tip on a $230 check. Shame on us for not catching it but shame on the server for not bringing it to our attention!
Food is delicious. Our table was outside and it wasn’t crowded when we arrived but definitely was more crowded then we had hoped.
Menu was imaginative. Food was very good. Felt comfortable with outside dining and ambience was nice. Service was excellent.
Excellent food, service, ambiance! Yum!
one of the personnel had her mask below her nose for the entire time we were there and was at our table several times.
It was concerning. Other than this, the food was great.
Poor management, was seated nearly an hour after our scheduled reservation time and this establishment does not appear to be adhering to COVID 19 regulations
Great food, service and experience dining outdoors in summer of 2020. We dined here twice this summer. Both times, excellent!!
Good food and service, especially the seafood. Very fresh. Nice set up. BYOB.
The good was the service, very attentive but not intrusive. We ate indoors and it was set up great. The apps were very good, filling and a great value. Now the bad. The mains were disappointing. My wife ordered veal picatta, a classic dish with lightly floured veal sauteed in butter and EVOO with fresh lemon juice, often served over pasta. Since we have cooked this ourselves and had it at their sister restaurants she just saw the title, Veal Picatta, and assumed this was the classic dish. Instead, what came was not at all what veal picatta should be and it was inedible. The veal was pale grey with no hint of flour, butter or seasoning. I tasted it and there was no hint of salt, pepper, butter or lemon. And, to make it more bizarre, it was smothered in sliced mushrooms. The server was pleasant and took it back to the kitchen to have them "fix" it and it came back with more lemon that only added to the strange lack of other flavors. The server offered her another entree but my wife was so turned off that she declined and he appropriately took it off the bill. My dish was a butterflied pork chop Milanese. The pork was done nicely, moist and well seasoned. The arugula and tomatoes were perfect compliments. The only complaint was that the breading was thicker than the meat! It was so crunchy that it made for an odd chew. But, it was still a good dish. Hopefully this was a COVID problem, new chef, or a bad night? We have dined here, and at their sister restaurants, and enjoyed the meals. But, this was disappointing.
The food here is delicious and the service was excellent.
Great food but they constantly over book
Everyone was delayed 30 minutes from reservation time
food was good but seemed to skimp on any extra. clams in wine sauce/ no crustini or bread with it. 2 butter pats with 4 pieces of bread for party of 4. etc.
