Pollo D'Oro
Great food and amazing drinks. I would definitely going back.
The food and drinks were amazing! Ended up here since we were a large party and they took reservations. The service was great, and they were very accommodating. Would come back, just wish the restaurant had a little bit more charm and no TVs, too much of a sports bar vibe going on.
It was the perfect Saturday afternoon lunch with my daughter in their outside atrium. Empanada's and shredded chicken were outstanding--and make sure you have a pisco--as they make their drinks expertly and with flare!
Nice ambiance however the food is overpriced for the quality.
Best experience ever!! One of my favorite restaurants in Dumbo :)
I had a wonderful at this restaurant. The food, drinks, and music was good. The workers was very nice. I'm looking forward to going back. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to my family and friends.
This is the first time we participated in Peruvian restaurant week in NYC, held from November 15 to November 30th.
We decided to try Pollo D' Oro's prix fixe menu of complimentary Peruvian mule or beer, appetizer, and an entree for $34 pp.
We started with pisco based Peruvian mule cocktails
It was a strong brandy and refreshingly good.
We then proceeded with Causita acevichada or whipped yellow potatoes with aji Amarillo topped with ceviche and Papa a la huancaina; boiled potatoes with huancaina sauce topped with boiled egg and olive sauce. Both dishes are delicious and shareable.
We then ordered our main entree Salmon D'Oro or grilled salmon served with cilantro rice and veggies topped with salsa criolla.
My partner chose seco de Cordero or lamb shank cilantro stew served with jasmine rice topped with criolla sauce. Both dishes were cooked to perfection, simply delectable and blended perfectly well with a bottle of Peruvian Cabernet Sauvignon, we were both blown away!
We then shared a heavenly and decadent chocolate mousse dessert topped with whipped cream and chocolate shaving.
My only concern is they hid the salmon and lamb shank with garnishes why hide such a beauty?!
Over all it was an amazing dinner experience
The food was so tasty. It was a great first experience.
The service was great, food was excellent! Definitely was a nice date night after a long work week.
Was able to sit inside and all the tables were spread out. Food was delicious and service was good.
After waiting for almost 1 hour the food was cold and the chicken was uncooked.
Amazing, wonderful service, & socially distant tables. The Lomo Saltado was sooooooooo delicious!!!
The food was great but the service wasn’t what we expected . We waited a long time when we asked the waiter to bring us water along with asking for the bill . The food is always amazing being that I’ve been here a few times before
Amazing food and wonderful service. I will be returning.
Very authentic nice food decent service
No complaints. Great ceviche and empanadas!
The food was good! We share the chicken empanadas. It had chunks of chicken and good flavor. For the entree I had the rib eye. It was sliced thin which I like served with rice with beans which was ok. My husband really enjoyed his seafood entree that had creamy and sour taste to it. Very authentic Peruvian flavor!
Overall an enjoyable experience. The food and drinks were tasty and appropriately priced. There is outdoor dining which is a major plus! The ambiance is not lost because seating is outdoors. Service is good and efficient. My third time going and I have yet to be disappointed.
This was my 1st time and the food as well as the service was amazing. I would definitely come back again.
This was a great find at a time when there is outdoor dining only. The ecviche was very good indeed, spicy and nice and fresh. The chicken was really good moist and very tasty. The drinks were also very nice and quite strong!!!
The waiters are very nice and attentive. The ceviche misto is so good. I ordered grilled salmon it was pretty good too. I’ll go back again!
I had a wonderful time and I will come back
One of the first places we did outdoor dining once it was permitted and had a great experience. Waitress was friendly and food was delicious. Thank you!
I went there hoping to enjoy Peruvian food, but instead got another style.
Next time I will avoid.
The decor is a little underwhelming which gets you questioning whether or not this will be worth the meal, But the drinks (with most focused on Pisco a Peruvian spirit distilled from grapes) are fabulous as is the Sangria.
Food is also really, really good. Empanadas were outstanding and the ceviche was fresh and tasty and plated beautifully.
The Peruvian Specialties for main plates were really great. Try the shrimp over french fries.
Finish the meal off with the Peruvian Donuts for desert and you will be sure to roll out into Brookly with a satisfied smile on your face.
Went for lunch and the prices were pretty good for the quality of the food. Yucca fries were gooood
Awesome ceviche and pisco sours! Our waitress was very attentive and did a great job explaining dishes!
Great food and good service. The ceviche is delicious as are the tamales, empanadas, and Tacu Tacu steak. I cannot wait to go back!
The food was great. Highly recommend the chicken empanadas appetizers and the lomo saltado was also good. The service was a little slow, but as it was Valentine's Day. the place was packed so not sure if this is the norm. Would definitely go again.
Shredded chicken could have been more tender but dish had potential. Tasty sangria to start.
Several issues. The ceviche is not drained: this is probably to taste and wasn't bad, just not what I was expecting, and made the dish quite tart. My companion had a dish with fries, which were almost definitely from a freezer bag: I mean completely fine, but this is not a diner. I was overcharged for one drink which was probably a mistake but is sloppy: the restaurant was not nearly busy enough to make simply adding things up correctly difficult. (I did not notice this till I got home.) And, they had an issue with their credit card machine making it not possible to split the bill. My score of "fair" seems harsh as there was nothing really wrong with the place, but why go to a place that serves food from a bag, overcharges, and can't get its credit card machine to work when there are plenty of others?
The food was excellent however service was rather slow and infrequent. Rather than checking on the table at regular intervals, we had to flag the waitress down whenever we wanted a drink and also had to ask several times for extra flatware and condiments during our meal. Other than that, the overall experience was great. We will be back again!
More casual than I thought but nice. It was a quiet Sunday night. Food and service were very good although a bit pricey; there were 3 of us and the bill was over $250. However, we did have an order of ceviche to start and dessert which we typically don't have, so maybe the bill wasn't too bad. Portions were adequate and the drinks were not watered down.
Slow service after 7:30 on Xmas day even with a few tables empty. Food was slow to come out. On the saltier side imo. Water refill was lacking. Inattentive service.
The food was bland and the prices were spicy
Food was very food. It not only came out looking very nice, and plated very well but the food tasted as good as it looked. Drinks were all new and good to try. The aji was a favorite for our table, we kept getting more throughout which they provided without us even having to ask! Definitely recommend the lomo for the meal and the crocantes for the appetizers. The purple corn juice/chicha wasn't what what I expected but it was still good to try. Only downside is that our table was at the entrance so we kept feeling a very cold breeze throughout anytime the door opened since it closed very slowly. Would definitely love to come back and try other dishes though.
You will get outstanding food for a reasonable price. Long time since I had such a good original ceviche and pisco sour.
We chose Pollo D'Oro based on reviews and proximity to where we were staying, and of course that we like ceviche as a variation on seafood. Sorry to say, we were disappointed. Firstly, the dining area had a slightly unpleasant odor. The food disappointments started when a dish that was described in the menu as including salmon roe, was delivered without it. When the question was relayed to the kitchen, the answer coming back was that they were temporarily out of that ingredient. Yet, the dish was delivered anyway with no explanation. Did they assume it wouldn't be noticed? Next, a dish similar to paella had flavorful rice, but the clams were noticeably not fresh and the calamari was overcooked. Finally, a different ceviche dish was excessively acidic. So, based on our limited experience with this one trip there, we can't recommend it. We hope others' experiences will catch them when preparation is more careful.
Excellent ceviches, delicious main entries. Great service.
Great food and service
