Poke The Bear Bar & Grill - Hotel Northland - Green Bay
Great food. Brussels sprouts were amazing!
We had a girls' night out and had never been here before. Our waitress was wonderful, the service was prompt, and the food was great. We will definitely go back again soon!
Great food! Always a good time.
Game night after Green Bay played..
We had two rooms at the northland hotel..this was convenient and in hotel...obviously understaffed andmffos awful....sorry
This was our first visit but won't be our last, beautiful building in the heart of GB with great food and good value.
Great!!! Food was good!
Birthday. Nice place
Went on Friday the 13. Food was excellent service was just Ok. We waited a while for our cocktails. Also was surprised the place pretty much empties out by 8:30
They did a great job remolding the hotel and bringing the whole building into the 21 century
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Extensive draft craft selection and diverse handhelds menu! Add some wonderful ambiance and this is our newest go to for casual dining🙂
Very courteous staff, food was great, and we enjoyed the ambiance. Portions were very generous. I was there with old friends from high school and we were celebrating a birthday for one of them. The staff gave her extra special attention!
Food was good for lunch, but always the same thing. Not much variety to the menu over other last time we were there. Salmon and roast beef were good, but why not advantage of locally sourced produce and with some summer special sandwiches? Don’t think the lunch menu has changed since they opened!
Food would get a 5 star IF they could just serve fries hot After they are cooked, unless they are cooked ahead of time and sit under a heat lamp. I specifically asked to make sure they were hot, and they were not, but the flavor and texture were great, just like warm. The sandwich was hotter then he fries!
This seems to be the norm in most restaurants!
Overall I would give it a try.
I’m always impressed with the Walnut Room but didn’t think much of Poke the Bear. I sat about 10 minutes before someone even came to the table. Service was pretty slow considering it wasn’t busy. Wasn’t much on the menu and the food was just okay.
Fun , casual atmosphere. Food and drinks with family or girls night out.
Menu was small but tasty. Soup could have been hotter for my husband's liking . I thought it was just right.
Our server was very pleasant and the food was delicious. Prompt service and clean atmosphere.
The chicken wings were delicious, the fries were a bit under-cooked, and the burger was so messy and wet (they didn’t drain the pulled pork properly). The liquid from the pulled pork, soaked into the bun and dripped everywhere. For me, it ruined the burger. A 50 dollar dinner for two, that wasn’t really worth 25 in my opinion. When I told the waitress about it, she acted flabbergasted and said, “nobody has ever said that.”
Great food but horrible service. Extremely noisy as well.
My first time at Poke the Bear was for GB Restaurant week, but I will be back. Interesting and delicious food combinations. Casual/modern atmosphere, with a great window on downtown Green Bay. Check it out for yourself~
Excellent food and service. We'll be back! The salmon sandwich was delicious! Homemade were yummy!
A great spot for restaurant week. Compliments to the chef on the duck flatbread. Slightly over priced wine. Friendly hostess
The food was very good. Loved the pastrami Reuben and gelato. Took a while to get our food but it was restaurant week. Would highly recommend.
The wait staff was very good, and the physical space is nice, but the food was just so, so bland. I went with two friends. We ordered off of the restaurant week lunch menu, and we each had different things. My friend who had the Reuben said of his lunch "The food was prepared and presented in a fairly fancy manor. But, the food was mild. That’s the best descriptor for all the food. Mild. " My other friend said "The food was fresh, and it wasn’t badly prepared just sooo lacking in spice, heat, real deep flavors. I had the Thai Curry Chicken salad. You could taste the curry clearly but it was just that, flat." As for me, I got the green pork chili as my entrée. On a flavor scale of 0 to 10, it scored a “feed it to your infant – she’ll like it” (I did – and she did). I would say that the menu was good, but they need to hire a chef who’s not afraid of flavor.
Everything was delicious and the service was wonderful. The space is beautiful as well. It is a great place for a really excellent meal!
Everything was great, from the food (you have to try the Pastrami Rueben and the fries are so flavorful!), to the service to the outdoor seating area. We will be back!
It was a busy Friday night and the food and service were still great. Ambience was nice. The overall dining experience was excellent. I didn’t feel like I had to yell over the top of music. We had appetizers and 3 sandwiches each with a side. The only recommendation I would have is to change the bread the French Dip is served on. All other foods were spot on!
Great ambiance
Service needs some attention. Took drink orders twice and couldn’t seem to get it straight and forgot one drink then ordered again and never did get that drink till we were paying the bill and she pushed to keep the drink because it would be too much work to take it off the bill. Needless to say we felt it would be a good learning experience for her to take it off. People seemed inexperienced food was good but a very limited menu.
Still new. It’s an odd mix of fancy sports bar in a high end hotel but with very basic and limited food choices. Service like most places was slow. App didn’t come until after our entree. We had already said we didn’t want it then and were still charged for it. Likely just growing pains. Would go again for drinks but likely not to eat.
We had a nice first dining experience at Poke The Bear. Our food was tasty (our table had the eggs, brussels, byob burger, kale salad, chop salad and bbq pulled pork sandwich) The kale salad was missing avocado and the squash, which I asked for and only got the avocado, but it was very tasty. The brussels were fantastic! Our service was good, not bad not great, but pleasant. Nice bar area with a decent selection. Bar service was ok. We enjoyed the newly renovated space and we will be back again.
Friendly great food and great service we’ve been there several times and find it consistently good
Service was awful. Took 15 minutes to get a drink and still hadn’t gotten our order in. Server never stopped and acknowledged us while we were waiting. She did apologize when she brought us the check about the delay.
Food was fairly good but nothing to boast about for the price.
Loved the sweet and salty spice on the gaufrette chips. Finished my meal with the chicken sobo noodle salad. Lots of flavor with low carbs
It was a birthday (though they don’t seem to do anything for birthdays). Service was a little slow, but food was good.
Excellent food and ambiance is as advertised fun and tasty
Food was over cooked
It's a cool little spot inside the new Hotel Northland. Liked the Dry Rub Wings. The burger mixed with shredded beef was an interesting combo.
Loved all our food, starting with appetizers, honey garlic Brussels Sprouts, Homemade chips, then on to entree, I had the Sobe Salad, my husband had the Friday perch, so excellent and tasty. Breaded Rye Lake Perch....very unique , we loved it!
Rye encrusted perch was excellent...they did a great job on the restoration
Our service was fantastic and the food and drink recommendations were fabulous. Thank you for the birthday surprise cupcake as well.
We enjoyed everything about Poke the Bear from the time we were politely greeted to the time we left. The sandwiches we ordered were tasty and attractive and the home cut fries as well as the onion rings were excellent. We will definitely be back.
Food and drink orders taken at proper times quality of food excellent . Been there several times will continue to do so.
