terrible service. brought apps with our dinner. waiter spilled full water glasses all over table and we cleaned up. acted like we were a bother not a customer. food was just ok.
Food was amazing. Service was excellent. We enjoyed everything about our experience.
Great burger, but that's it. Service was amazingly bad, so bad. Epic bad. We were a table of 3, on a Sunday night, restaurant was moderately busy (not sleepy, no wait for a table, many open tables, plenty of staff visible). You're busy? That's cool, keep the cocktails coming and I'm fine. Unfortunately, this was not to be. In an instance of what turned out to be chock full of foreshadowing, we joked that we should order 2 rounds when we first ordered drinks. Alas, that first round turned out to be our only round... The staff, including the manager, seemed to go out of their way to not make eye contact with guests.
When our food did finally did arrive, the burger was out of sight, just great. Based on the service, we decided actually eating the muscles we ordered was probably too much of a risk (if we could see how poorly trained they were in front of customers, God only knows what the kitchen looked like).
I watch a Rachal Ray show and the owner of Pointe Royal appeared. Seemed like a beautiful experience....how bad could it be...hes on Rachel Ray....So I was thinking on mothers day🌹would be a great day to check out. I immediately made my reservation.
As I entered the restaurant with my 2 boys and parents to be seated, the place was a mess. Tables a mess, food scraps allover the floor. Waiter/waitress seemed scrambling.
We got to our table and it wasnt wiped down. So hostess asked us to stand there til it was wiled down. And it looked like they threw 4 random tables together with no table cloth so it looked very unbecoming.
We sat and I am already very dissatisfied with what I already have seen. Now it's time to eat. My reservation was at 2pm. They ran out of food by our reservation time. I dont eat red meat. There was no option for chicken, Turkey, tofu.
I cant believe that a restaurant would be operating like this especially on a Mothers day. My mothers day lunch was disgusting and disappointing to say the least. I hope you clean up your act. I will never eat there again.
5 people = $300 for a buffet style lunch that ran out of food....HORRIBLE!!!!
Everything about this restaurant pointed to a great experience but fell short. I was most disappointed in the food. The food could have been great if it was hot and fresh. The set up of the breakfast buffet was subpar. The food was presented in a nice fashion but the heating lights did nothing to keep the food warmed. The sweet potato casserole was room temperature, the bacon cold, and the gravy for the biscuits was barely warm. The only thing hot was the fresh omelet. The charcuterie was not cold enough and the fruit was not ripe. For $35 and being a restaurant of such a high profile chef, I expected more.
Lavender martini was on online menu but they didnt have what they needed to make it, so I had to get the Lychee drink but they were out of club soda also. Lobster roll-claw meat was tender but tail meat was overcooked and tough, even after taking meat out and cutting it up and putting back in roll I couldn't chew through it. Then server came back to table after ordering dessert and we were told all the ice cream/sorbet were unavailable due to a freezer issue and I couldnt get the dessert I wanted. Had reservations for a month and was hoping to get these items that were on the menu. Very disappointed
Amazing place! Paul our server was awesome!!
I proposed to my wife of 26 years, Jerry the manager made it magically. I can’t thank him enough. And yeah, she said yes!
The food was okay, but the service was amazing. We had Harry and he was very attentive and very informative. I love the brownie and the drinks were also very good.
The room was lovely. Our server and the other staff that cleared and brought food were all friendly and polite
Birthday breakfast brunch
Food was excellent, setting and service very nice. Would definitely recommend.
Easter Sunday. Only buffet🙁 My opinion of this place is no good. I was thinking not to even write about it, but I m compelled to. No healthy options except for fruit (they have yogurt and some people consider it to be healthy, I don’t.) Very diner like setting. Could be so much more appealing. Service was fine, especially since it’s a holiday. On the menu they advertise organic fruit, I m sure it s not organic at the buffet. Grapefruit juice was good. Coffee not so much. I ll say this: if you eat unhealthy and don’t care about ambiance, go there; otherwise go somewhere else. That is my opinion.
The food was delicious and our waiter was awesome! Very attentive and nice!
We had a party of 16 with awful service. One very inexperienced waiter for 16 business clients. We waited extremely long for food over an hour, due to the waiter lack of service. The restaurant was not that busy.
Here for a conference. Excited about raw bar. At first service a little slow but ok. India was very pleasant. Got our first course ok of delicious beet salad and oysters and shrimp-very tasty and fresh Second course of market fish was very good and not too delayed. Then server disappeared. No quick flyby or excuse. We were interested in dessert and after 30 min India finally swung by but no dessert menu. Waited another 20 min. Finally companion complained twice. Manager stated would look into it but no immediate satisfaction. India finally came by with dessert menus but informed her wanted check. At that point she said she had a difficult table. Need to work on service quality and consistency
Disappointing and will not return.
Have dined all over the country at James Beard restaurants and hole in the walls. One of the worst services have had.
Some of the worst service I’ve ever had. Watered drown drinks. I literally had to go find out waitress when we needed refills.
I was really looking forward to dining Point Royal because I am a fan of "The Kitchen". I was not disappointed, nor were the friends that joined me.
If you want a breakfast buffet you’re better off going to Holiday Inn express. They explain to us many times that we were not to touch the brunch menu since we had a reservation for 11 and it was not available and we had to catch a plane. Really a worthless place
The food was crazy overpriced for the proportions and the service was terrible the night we went. Took 30mins Tj get a drink when they weren’t even crowded and forever to get the bill. My coworker got the lobster roll and it was a few pieces of lobster on a hot dog bun for $25 dollars!
Food substandard. Wait staff cleared away peoples dishes before finished and while others at table also still eating - staff also cleaned down table while we were eating. Paid the bill without ordering dessert (couldn’t wait to end the ordeal) and received three calls on my cell accusing me of not having paid the bill. The bill had been paid and we’d asked a waiter to make a copy of receipt as they had not provided one. So we had to return to the restaurant and prove that it had been their mistake not ours and that the bill had of course been paid. Would NEVER eat there again.
Horrible service. Avoid this place at all cost. Slow at all levels. Don't understand how they can have such a bad service when the place was not even at full capacity.
Really fantastic. The ambiance was outstanding. The grilled octopus was the best we ever had. Can't wait to go back
Expensive, with staff that makes you feel like an annoyance. I'm very disappointed in this location, and GZ should be too. Overpriced, and one of few dining options at the Diplomat, I expect a higher level of service by experienced staff. The automatically added 18% gratuity is no incentive for decent service; I think it's a mistake throughout the resort. The food is pretty good and brunch selection decent. But I don't appreciate a high gratuity for barely average service.
This was our second visit, and did not hold up to our visit last year. The first visit at Point Royal last year was exquisite. The whole fish my wife ordered was perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and so large it was falling off the plate on both ends. My New York Strip was the thickest strip I had ever laid eyes on. The crawfish mac and cheese was conversation starting and was almost spilling over the bowl in portion. The service was top notch.
Our second visit was dissapointing and we went there with guests after highly recommending it.
My wife's whole fish was mullet sized and bland. My steak was something I could have ordered at a cheaper restaurant, but it had more fat, less seasoning, and cost $45. The crawfish mac and cheese seemed to taste at par, but the portion was half the dish.
Part of the reason we had chosen the Diplomat was our experience at Point Royal. I doubt we will make reservations at Point Royal again.
Great selection of entries, with their strong point being seafood. The drink menu was extensive and the place was vibrant.
Ali’s was very attentive and thoughtful while being not being at all intrusive. An amazing and difficult attribute in the food service industry! And Ryan’s knowledge of the cocktail list was insightful and his mixing skills spot on. Thanks for a great night...
Our server Paul was amazing. He really made the experience!
I have been here a few times and I'm usually very pleased with my service and the food is great BUT this past time I came I was allowed to make a reservation and when I got there I was seated only to be told I'd better hurry because they were already cleaning up. Totally disappointed in the miscommunication and lack of customer service. Another low on my total stay at the Diplomat
The tables are too close together - the noise level is too loud - steak came out underdone the first time, burnt yo a crisp the second time
Food was excellent, Paul our server was fantastic and great with our kids. Portions were a little small but I don’t judge quality based on quantity and we certainly did not leave hungry. Overall great.
It was the most pleasant experience to celebrate my birthday!
Our waiter Jean was very helpful, sweet and prompt.
We have got free champagne, which was unexpected. What a surprise!
The price for our dinner was quite moderate!
I will definitely recommend the restaurant to my friends!
The only remark, : you should not allow people wear sloppy shorts!
The food was awesome, Have told all of my friends about it. Will return.
Food was as promised, very tasty. Service, although somewhat slow- it was not busy, very friendly.
Portions were small. Very pricey. The Fontbleu in Miami was more reasonable in price!
Baby portions in general.. I got a lobster Roll sandwich.. and it was a JOKE.. 2 bites for 25 Dollars.. my partner got a steak and fries.. and it was a bit better.. but overall.. we had to wait 45 minutes to be seated and another 30 minutes to get the food...
Food was ok, but service was erratic and slow.
The food and drink were fantastic, however, the service over shadowed the opportunity to genuinely enjoy our experience. While the waiter was kind, the pace was under par. By the time the waiter arrived to take our first beverage order we all started commenting about the delay to the point that we all knew what to order. We ordered apps, salads and entrees, and unfortunately our salads were served with our entrees. We also had to flag down our waiter for a second round of drinks. Overall, the wait staff needs more help - bar and servers. The waits were much too long for the higher price paid. Disappointed, will not return, and will not recommend.
Great experience !!
Our waiter, Paul, was FABULOUS! He was fun and professional! He treated us to delicious desserts to help us celebrate my husband’s birthday. He also gave us great tips for places to go out to afterwards. Food was wonderful. Beautiful setting. Would definitely come again.
Food is amazing... Happy hour menu and drink reasonably priced...
