We had a party of 16 with awful service. One very inexperienced waiter for 16 business clients. We waited extremely long for food over an hour, due to the waiter lack of service. The restaurant was not that busy.
Here for a conference. Excited about raw bar. At first service a little slow but ok. India was very pleasant. Got our first course ok of delicious beet salad and oysters and shrimp-very tasty and fresh Second course of market fish was very good and not too delayed. Then server disappeared. No quick flyby or excuse. We were interested in dessert and after 30 min India finally swung by but no dessert menu. Waited another 20 min. Finally companion complained twice. Manager stated would look into it but no immediate satisfaction. India finally came by with dessert menus but informed her wanted check. At that point she said she had a difficult table. Need to work on service quality and consistency
Disappointing and will not return.
Have dined all over the country at James Beard restaurants and hole in the walls. One of the worst services have had.
Some of the worst service I’ve ever had. Watered drown drinks. I literally had to go find out waitress when we needed refills.
I was really looking forward to dining Point Royal because I am a fan of "The Kitchen". I was not disappointed, nor were the friends that joined me.
If you want a breakfast buffet you’re better off going to Holiday Inn express. They explain to us many times that we were not to touch the brunch menu since we had a reservation for 11 and it was not available and we had to catch a plane. Really a worthless place
The food was crazy overpriced for the proportions and the service was terrible the night we went. Took 30mins Tj get a drink when they weren’t even crowded and forever to get the bill. My coworker got the lobster roll and it was a few pieces of lobster on a hot dog bun for $25 dollars!
Food substandard. Wait staff cleared away peoples dishes before finished and while others at table also still eating - staff also cleaned down table while we were eating. Paid the bill without ordering dessert (couldn’t wait to end the ordeal) and received three calls on my cell accusing me of not having paid the bill. The bill had been paid and we’d asked a waiter to make a copy of receipt as they had not provided one. So we had to return to the restaurant and prove that it had been their mistake not ours and that the bill had of course been paid. Would NEVER eat there again.
Horrible service. Avoid this place at all cost. Slow at all levels. Don't understand how they can have such a bad service when the place was not even at full capacity.
Really fantastic. The ambiance was outstanding. The grilled octopus was the best we ever had. Can't wait to go back
Expensive, with staff that makes you feel like an annoyance. I'm very disappointed in this location, and GZ should be too. Overpriced, and one of few dining options at the Diplomat, I expect a higher level of service by experienced staff. The automatically added 18% gratuity is no incentive for decent service; I think it's a mistake throughout the resort. The food is pretty good and brunch selection decent. But I don't appreciate a high gratuity for barely average service.
This was our second visit, and did not hold up to our visit last year. The first visit at Point Royal last year was exquisite. The whole fish my wife ordered was perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and so large it was falling off the plate on both ends. My New York Strip was the thickest strip I had ever laid eyes on. The crawfish mac and cheese was conversation starting and was almost spilling over the bowl in portion. The service was top notch.
Our second visit was dissapointing and we went there with guests after highly recommending it.
My wife's whole fish was mullet sized and bland. My steak was something I could have ordered at a cheaper restaurant, but it had more fat, less seasoning, and cost $45. The crawfish mac and cheese seemed to taste at par, but the portion was half the dish.
Part of the reason we had chosen the Diplomat was our experience at Point Royal. I doubt we will make reservations at Point Royal again.
Great selection of entries, with their strong point being seafood. The drink menu was extensive and the place was vibrant.
Ali’s was very attentive and thoughtful while being not being at all intrusive. An amazing and difficult attribute in the food service industry! And Ryan’s knowledge of the cocktail list was insightful and his mixing skills spot on. Thanks for a great night...
Our server Paul was amazing. He really made the experience!
The tables are too close together - the noise level is too loud - steak came out underdone the first time, burnt yo a crisp the second time
Food was excellent, Paul our server was fantastic and great with our kids. Portions were a little small but I don’t judge quality based on quantity and we certainly did not leave hungry. Overall great.
It was the most pleasant experience to celebrate my birthday!
Our waiter Jean was very helpful, sweet and prompt.
We have got free champagne, which was unexpected. What a surprise!
The price for our dinner was quite moderate!
I will definitely recommend the restaurant to my friends!
The only remark, : you should not allow people wear sloppy shorts!
The food was awesome, Have told all of my friends about it. Will return.
Food was as promised, very tasty. Service, although somewhat slow- it was not busy, very friendly.
Portions were small. Very pricey. The Fontbleu in Miami was more reasonable in price!
Baby portions in general.. I got a lobster Roll sandwich.. and it was a JOKE.. 2 bites for 25 Dollars.. my partner got a steak and fries.. and it was a bit better.. but overall.. we had to wait 45 minutes to be seated and another 30 minutes to get the food...
Food was ok, but service was erratic and slow.
The food and drink were fantastic, however, the service over shadowed the opportunity to genuinely enjoy our experience. While the waiter was kind, the pace was under par. By the time the waiter arrived to take our first beverage order we all started commenting about the delay to the point that we all knew what to order. We ordered apps, salads and entrees, and unfortunately our salads were served with our entrees. We also had to flag down our waiter for a second round of drinks. Overall, the wait staff needs more help - bar and servers. The waits were much too long for the higher price paid. Disappointed, will not return, and will not recommend.
Great experience !!
Our waiter, Paul, was FABULOUS! He was fun and professional! He treated us to delicious desserts to help us celebrate my husband’s birthday. He also gave us great tips for places to go out to afterwards. Food was wonderful. Beautiful setting. Would definitely come again.
Food is amazing... Happy hour menu and drink reasonably priced...
Broccoli was good. Grouper good. Shrimp pasta was a bit skimpy on the shrimp, maybe four shrimp in the entire plate. Prices a bit high for grouper as it comes with no sides.
Good food terrible service.
This was the worst service we ever experienced! Do not go here! In addition the menu on their website was nothing like what the menu in the restaurant was. So dissatisfied.
Geoffrey Zakarian needs to stop by this place and whip it into order if he’s going to put his name on it. We had late lunch reservations and still had to wait and extra 15 minutes but no Biggy, that’s just a mention. The table seats were dirty and the floors were not clean. We had to go through two tables before we found a clean seat. Kudos to the manager as he noticed what was happening and came right over, dismissed the maitre d,' wiped the seat down to remove some stray crumbs and seated us with an apology that they were shorthanded. He actually served as our waiter until he was able to free up a waitress to serve us. The restaurant just didn’t have the feel of a nice place. Floors were dirty, tables and seats with crumbs on them, and overall looked overwhelmed. The menu is limited but looks creative as you would expect from a culinary genius like Chef Zakarian, and for the most part was. My wife had the cavatelli w/ shrimp and I had the whole fish simple grilled with olive oil, salt, and pepper. All seemed ok and tasted good. Cavatelli is fairly dense and filling and my wife barely eats enough to keep alive so I finished it off for her. I thought it was creative and tasteful. About 4 am my wife got sick and suffered a few hours until all passed through her. Only thing we can figure is the shrimp itself was bad. She mentioned it smelled a tad fishy but she ate it anyway which is very unlike her. The shrimp is the only thing I didn’t eat that she did. Not saying definitely but just saying! 80.00 for two people late lunch may be a bit expensive but that may have been my not paying attention and no one informing us that an 18% gratuity is already added in. I simply looked at the total and wrote in another tip on top of it. In the end it’s ok. We gave the waitress a pass for the mediocre service since they were understaffed and she was working very hard and looked tired. We appreciated her effort and kindness. The restaurant is in the Diplomat hotel & all is overpric
Overall the restaurant was good. The decor was beautiful. We had to very professional waiter. We did not wait long to be served. Two of our meals were very good. One meal, the grouper was a disappointment. The fish needed an accompaniment, some rice or salad. The presentation is important and that was very poor. We ordered sides and they were good. The price was high but it was expected.
Thank you for today!
There all staff are so nice and
dishes are beautiful and delicious!!
Defnitely i'll come back again with my friends!
It was good. Seemed a bit understaffed.
Place lovely regarding decor. But the service took FOREVER!!
Very pretty restaurant. Loved the little table lamps, well spaced tables. Disappointed they didn't provide bread. Beet salad was excellent. Salmon was really good. Branzino was too plain and a bit dry - it needed a little sauce. Accompanying cilantro fennel salad had too much cilantro and no fennel. Crispy brussel sprouts with candied pecans were not crispy, and had no pecans, but did taste good. Uneven food. Good service, Hostess and waiter were very nice.
Unfortunately the whole place was having a really bad day...kitchen took almost an hour to bring out our first course from the raw bar and then they came at the exact same time as our mains. Not unusual to look around and see tables waiting 20-30 min for drinks and 45-60 min for food. They comp’d us the oysters, obviously. When the food eventually came it was mostly very good. Risotto and short rib both excellent. Brussel sprouts were a bit soggy but tasty, and crawfish Mac and cheese was quite tasty. All-in-all, if this was just a bad day, it had the potential to be very good. But if this is their normal, they won’t be in business very long.
Totally enjoyable with delicious food
Decent breakfast spot, good dinner spot.
Great seafood. Friendly and attentive service. Not vegetarian friendly.
The decor was simple and sophisticated. The food was well spiced and very fresh. Something new crab and ricotta dumpling delicious. Crispy octopus cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend
Party of nine arrived for a 7pm reservation. Drink orders were taken..no drinks or water for more than 20 min...food order taken and then the long wait..one person specifically told the server that they had an onion allergy. Was told the octopus was ok as it had no onions..another 30 min go by and the server comes to say that in fact there were onions in the marinade and could they order something else...still no food...btw the octopus was still brought to the tAble and charged the 19.00 on the final bill although it was returned to the kitchen.. most plates were served at room temperature. All in all service was definitely not up to par for what you would expect at this restaurant..That being said the food was good..not WOW..
