Thank you for today!
There all staff are so nice and
dishes are beautiful and delicious!!
Defnitely i'll come back again with my friends!
It was good. Seemed a bit understaffed.
Place lovely regarding decor. But the service took FOREVER!!
Very pretty restaurant. Loved the little table lamps, well spaced tables. Disappointed they didn't provide bread. Beet salad was excellent. Salmon was really good. Branzino was too plain and a bit dry - it needed a little sauce. Accompanying cilantro fennel salad had too much cilantro and no fennel. Crispy brussel sprouts with candied pecans were not crispy, and had no pecans, but did taste good. Uneven food. Good service, Hostess and waiter were very nice.
Unfortunately the whole place was having a really bad day...kitchen took almost an hour to bring out our first course from the raw bar and then they came at the exact same time as our mains. Not unusual to look around and see tables waiting 20-30 min for drinks and 45-60 min for food. They comp’d us the oysters, obviously. When the food eventually came it was mostly very good. Risotto and short rib both excellent. Brussel sprouts were a bit soggy but tasty, and crawfish Mac and cheese was quite tasty. All-in-all, if this was just a bad day, it had the potential to be very good. But if this is their normal, they won’t be in business very long.
Totally enjoyable with delicious food
Decent breakfast spot, good dinner spot.
Great seafood. Friendly and attentive service. Not vegetarian friendly.
The decor was simple and sophisticated. The food was well spiced and very fresh. Something new crab and ricotta dumpling delicious. Crispy octopus cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend
Party of nine arrived for a 7pm reservation. Drink orders were taken..no drinks or water for more than 20 min...food order taken and then the long wait..one person specifically told the server that they had an onion allergy. Was told the octopus was ok as it had no onions..another 30 min go by and the server comes to say that in fact there were onions in the marinade and could they order something else...still no food...btw the octopus was still brought to the tAble and charged the 19.00 on the final bill although it was returned to the kitchen.. most plates were served at room temperature. All in all service was definitely not up to par for what you would expect at this restaurant..That being said the food was good..not WOW..
Was on vacation at this hotel and ate breakfast lunch and dinner here. The food and the service were excellent. Yan was an amazing server!
I was honestly dissapointed - the music was very loud, just pumping bass , distracted from trying to achieve a decnt ambiance. The service was average- not very busy- server kept disappearing. the food was padestrian at best with the exception of the ricota dumplings- they were very good, the lobster roll was mostly bun with a bit of lobstermeat drenched in butter, the grouper was overcooked, the highlight of the meal was the side of swiss chard- very good. I think overall for the money spent- I would not go back-I would not deter others from trying it out with hopes it was a one time chance that it was mediocre
Amazing food. Beautiful room of plants. Fantastic service with Paul. Wonderful!
Loved the food and atmosphere. Fish, ceviche, grilled octopus and desserts were grand.
Our waiter was ALWAYS missing inaction! The linguine with clams was soooooo over done. Not an al dente bite on the plate unless you count the chewy clams! I’ve been here several times and I have never experienced this level of service and less quality in the food. We ordered a dozen oysters and asked for a fork and our waiter even told us “I’ll see if I can find one. They are always missing”. Really? Too bad
We were very disappointed at the fixed menu for New Years Eve. Not everyone eats seafood or veal. There should have been at least a beef choice. My husband ordered the branzino and there were bones in it. The price was outrageous for the quality and amount of food we got. We left there hungry. I ordered the oyster/caviar appetizer and there were only 3. We will probably never return to Point Royal if this experience is any reflection of how it is on a regular basis.
Horrible service on NYE. Very slow. My wife’s salmon was dry.
It was New Years early on but when we switched out reservation we were not told about the pri fixe and we ordered a la carte. It felt rushed like the restaurant was eager to turn the table even though we came at 7 pm.
Happy New Year dinner was great
Friends of ours wanted to meet up for dinner, They invited us to point royal , at the diplomat hotel.
The restaurant is huge, seats indoor and outdoor.
We decided to sit inside. Our first time here, it is mostly a seafood place.
The ambiance is casual yet sophisticated and service is very good. You are greeted with a basket of bread and seasoned butter which is nice while you await the appetizers to come in.
Our server loren was kind enough to answer all of our questions, and believe me we had a lot of questions.
She did mention that they recently added a few new items to the menu ,and pointed her favorite things on it.
The food was good, but the service was the highlight of the night.
Great experience from the moment we walked in to the moment stepped out.
They validate the parking as well, which is a great plus.
So I’ve been several times for the Sunday brunch and it’s always been great. This time was somewhat disappointing. We waited over 15 minutes with a reservation. We showed up on time and the restaurant was not full. They were just disorganized. Although our server was wonderful, the food was just ok. There was only one person making waffles and eggs. How do you only have one person making so many things for a Sunday brunch? The line was ridiculous and took 45 minutes to get to the front. So none of our party ate together.
Sadly short staffed in kitchen, bread ran out at 7:30 Friday night in season, service exceptionally slow. Chef G.Zakarian should have better management and training. Food when finally arrived was cold or room temperature for all 6 of us. Shame because beautiful location and decor.
Great food but quite crowded
Very disappointing experience. Food so very average overall. Menu, kitchen, service needs a reboot. Pasta with clams had six small clams and was over cooked.
Wine priced at 3-4x cost. If you are charging resort prices, you should be so much better.
I am a local and would love to have a great restaurant in this space.
Dry steak. Mediocre food. Over priced. Slow service.
So disapointed. Had a chef friend from out of town and decided to come here for Christmas Brunch due to the amazing menu that they had posted. Unfortunatley they did not have a great number of the items that were listed on the menu.
RAW BAR--2 of 3 listed available
No oysters neither east or west caost
CARVED MEATS & FISH--1 0f 4 listed available
NO Roasted Suckling Pig w/ Sour Orange mojo
NO Sausage stuffed Boneless Whole Turkey
NO Sugar cured ham with pineapple glaze
HOT ITEMS & SIDES
NO glazed carrots, whipped potatoes, roasted sweet potatoes, Point Royal mac n cheese or creamed arrowhead spinach.
NO Tortilla Espanola
NO Lamb sausage or Point Royal Clambake
Not even going to worry about the lack of desserts as advertised.
We drove from Miami to Hollywood due the the menu.
Excellent food and service. Would highly recommend. Went with a large group and everyone was thrilled with their dishes, the vegetable sides, and the dessert!
We went to Point Royal on 12/11/18 for dinner and had an absolutely amazing time. Our server was Paul, and he was possibly the best and most entertaining waiter I've ever had. There was a grilled hamachi special that was delectable and I would eat the dark cherry meringue dessert every night if I could. The only point that was a LITTLE less than optimal was the texture of the lobster in the lobster roll. It was still delicious though. Thanks Point Royal for an excellent evening.
I was staying at the diplomat and wanted to find some place to eat. I was so pleased with our experience at point royal.
From the moment we walked in everyone was warm and I was impressed by how quickly the food came out and how wonderful it tasted.
Our server lauren recommended to do it family style and share everything to get a better view of what the restaurant has to offer.
Her recommendation were spot on, my wife ordered the grouper and I got the shrimp and grits and it was the most unique grits I've ever had. it had a slight bite to the grits and the prawns were huge. The grouper was seasoned and cooked to perfection.
We also got the ricotta dumplings and the artichoke salad and they were also great.
The sides are HUGE! You must try the caramelized carrots and the Brussels sprouts.
I would definitely recommend this place.
Had a great meal the staff was great and very helpful, especially Gary our primary server
We enjoy ourselves here and always request Paul as our server. He is fabulous and makes it an unforgettable experience
Although we received service with a smile, the food was not to my liking. Overall the food was way too oily and salty. The black grouper was saturated with oil and the seasoning salty. The oil made for very heavy side dishes as the brussel sprouts were dripping in grease. On the plus side the beet salad appetizer was refreshing and tasty. This restaurant probably (hopefully) does a better job with the raw bar items as it looks like their specialty. I think the creativity was there just not the execution of the dishes.
Loved the decor of the place. It was very quiet on Sunday evening when we went for dinner. Service was great and waiters were attentive and anticipated our needs. The food was phenomenal. The crispy octopus was absolutely delicious and a healthy portion for an appetizer or small plate. The ceviche was fresh and inventive with the hint of passion fruit. The diver scallops were perfectly seared and 1 portion was enough to feed two. They say portions for large plates are family size and enough for 3-4 but I would hesitate and say they're better for two and you'd want to order a side dish to go with a main plate. All in all a wonderful dining experience.
Went for the Thanksgiving brunch; for the price of 75.00 pp it was worth it. The selection was vast, and had a variety of options to choose from. The turkey was slightly dry, and they ran out of stuffing. What stuffing I did have was delicious. The duck hash was scrumptious. The oysters were not briny, and well cleaned. The rib-eye was cold and not seasoned very well. The dessert room was a fantasy for the sweet tooth oriented. The service was on point, and attentive. If you have a chance to go, you will not be disappointed.
The food was good but over priced!
Thanksgiving Day buffet featured a cornucopia of excellent food, supported by attentive service. On other days, service was spotty.
Gary, our waiter, was wonderful and the food quality was just as good!
We were staying at the Diplomat Hotel for an anniversary weekend and were looking forward to a meal at Geoffrey Zakarian’s Point Royal restaurant. The food was very good, but the service was slow. We were offered the dessert menu, but passed. We were surprised that an anniversary dessert came while we were waiting for the check. The decor is very pretty and beachy-modern.
