Point Royal Ratings and Reviews
I made my reservation on open table and especially requested a nice booth, but they put us at a table that we didn’t like. I asked for different table and the hostess told me everything is reserved. We decided to leave and as we were walking out and at the door,Jaime Thornhill (General manage)stopped us and told us that we can choose any table we woukd like. That made our night and we enjoyed the best dinner .
Thank you Jaime
Dinner with my family on a Sunday night was perfect! Irinya was our server and quickly made a connection with everyone at the table!! Her charm and knowledge was fantastic, yet her attentiveness was professional and appreciated! The food was absolutely delicious! We were all pleased and satisfied with every morsel we indulged in! Much thanks to the entire team and service!! Will definitely be back! Thanks Irinya!
Disappointing - noise level painful; second Zakarian restaurant we have tried (first in NYC) and honestly the food not that great at either one. Pricey both in NY and for Hollywood Beach and the selection not all that appealing. Maybe it has something to do with Hilton-based food but our meals just okay, not great.
I think this shall be our last attempt at this chef's table.
Weak effort by the restaurant. No one came to our table for nearly twenty minutes. Had to flag them down even then. Bread basket came with four pieces for a six person table. Cookies to go were stale and hard. Main courses were very good but the overall experience was a negative.
The service was excellent but I wasn't fond of my grouper, which is served without any sides, unless you buy one for 8-12 dollars. We started with prosecco since it was a birthday celebration and they poured it in white wine glasses. Oh, I know this is the way things are going with those in the know, but can't they keep a few flutes around for those who prefer it that way? The grouper was dry and in my opinion without flavor. I got the side of artichokes, but for me, they were overly greasy and rich. My friend ordered a side of potatoes, and they were very dry. She ordered some type of meal that looked like gruel and she said it was lacking in flavor. We asked for bread and we got cornbread with honey butter, which was good, but I would not have ordered it with fish. When we switched from courses, the bus person wanted to know if I wanted to keep my fork. I did not try dessert because none of the menu options appealed to me. Sorry, but I know the chef has a great reputation, but he needs to make a visit and revamp the whole concept. I will pay when the food is great, but it wasn't. Not returning.
I was rooting for this place to be good as it is not too far away. It started with a crazy valet parking scene that made me fear for my car, the area was large, the Diplomat is huge, but there were cars just sitting there blocking cars from moving freely, I suspect the valets “ accommodating” patrons with spots in the driveway. The food was not at all great in any way, the cervice was fishy tasting, the crab croquettes ordinary, the brussel sprouts a goppy mess and the grilled fish just ok. Too bad, it’s a nice room. Won’t be back. Regards. Ned.
I was at the hotel for a conference and ate here daily. I was disappointed with every single one of my meals. Service was incredibly slow, food was terrible, and there weren’t many options to choose from on the menu. I wanted eggs at breakfast and to do so I had to get the $30 buffet. Going to Geffoey Zakarians restaurants in the past and having them be amazing I was extremely disappointed.
Raw bar was good in some aspects, not so good in others. The shrimp and crab were very good; the oysters were very small. The Caesar salad was average.
Service was good some of time. But it took me (3) requests and 20 minutes to get my order. During our stay, we had (4) different staffers wait on us, so it was hard to know who to flag down for something.
All in all, I would rate the experience as average and the meal way overpriced
This was a great find. Located inside the Diplomat hotel. Shrimp and grits num num num. The ceviche was tasty. The only draw back was the vesper 3/2/1 gin/vodka/lillet with a twist. The blue berry pie could feed three after this three course meal. Don't forget to validate your parking ticket if you park across from the hotel.
From the outside valet, hotel lobby and to the table - all the staff was friendly and approachable! We had a server assigned to the table but every time we needed something, anyone who walked by asked if we needed anything and we were able to get it right away.
Food was delicious with so many different layers of flavor. Next time I'm in town, I'll have to come back!
We had a prix fixe dinner which was a deal. I had the mussels appetizer, linguine with clams and small blueberry pie which were all delicious. My partner had the lobster ravioli appetizer, corn crusted snapper and chocolate toffee cake with ice cream. Our server was excellent, and we had a great time.
Staff was warm and welcoming, were not put off by slightly cranky child we had with us. Gary was a helpful and efficient server. Food had lots of variety and was well integrated into each dish. We loved the croquettes, ricotta pasta, and the Diver scallops were amazing! Everything was great including the wines and cornbread with special butter. We will definitely return and recommend to others! Thank you OpenTable!
This was our first time to Point Royal. We were seated close to the entrance which had quite a bit of foot traffic. I had the whole snapper in basil sauce which was very salty. The Brussels sprouts was salty too. My husband had the pork chop that was undercooked with a rare middle. It was a little dark for me to pick through the bones of the fish. Two days later, I ordered takeaway of warm artichoke salad and fried oysters, and was disappointed with the artichoke salad because they were very fibrous and salty. The oysters were good but small.
Breakfast is more enjoyable there than dinner, for our experience anyway. But then, breakfast has too few choices to justify the price of $29. For dinner, my medium rare NY strip sirloin came full medium. Not good steak cooking for a restaurant that carries Geoffrey Zakarian.
There are truly creative dishes on this menu that were delicious beginning with the "starters"! The raw bar selections are a specialty. Our tuna steak was a perfect medium rare, the lobster perfect as well. The sides are shareable, out of the ordinary and very tasty! And... if you're really lucky, you get to meet Chef Zakarian on one of this visits! We did! What a way to cap off a great evening!
Very poor service. Restaurant was half empty, we had reservations for 7pm as this was our first time here. We spent several minutes arguing with the hostess on seating as she wanted to seat us bed to the bathrooms when there were many un reserved open tables in other areas of the restaurant. Once seated waitress took a very long time in greeting us, we asked for some water which took 20 minutes. This level of service went on through out the entire dinner. After a hour of this we decided not to have dinner here and go somewhere else. We did try a few appetizers and a small plate. Food was average, nothing special considering the price points. I have had much better in the Miami/ Ft Lauderdale area. We live in the area, it's clear the focus point is on the guest staying at the hotel and not locals that live in the area. To quote Geoffrey from "Chopped", this place is chopped from our dinning list.
I was excited to try this restaurant because it was recommended by both Travel + Leisure and a recent Eater map. The hotel the restaurant is in has a very nice lobby. The restaurant itself is very cool in terms of decoration and atmosphere. It feels little corporate, but it's a hotel restaurant. Some of the items were delicious and very flavorful, including the tuna tartare and the house-made cornbread and smoked honey butter that goes with it. But others were just so-so, like the dumplings and the scallops. It felt like the flavors just hadn't quite come together yet. The service was very good, though a bit over the top. Overall, a good experience. I'd like to try again to form a lasting opinion.
