Great Castro Neighborhood restaurant with a varied menu of both delicious small plates and their own twist on traditional entrees. The service is excellent and the vibe is perfect.

We come here occasionally and have noticed that the dishes are becoming more flavorful. Good place to bring friends or a date - the overall atmosphere is homey and warm, with old Italian movies projected on the back wall.

My chicken was very dry and my partner's eggplant parmigiana was soggy and inedible. We sent back both entrees and had dinner at Marcello's. 😒 The salad was good and we weren't charged for the entrees.

This was a wonderful surprise. Everything was excellent and we could talk to each other in a normal tone of voice. We'll be back soon.

I ate at Poesia for the first time on Sunday night. So many failed restaurants, most of which were pretty bad. I thought that location was jinxed! However, the food at Poesia was great, and the service was even better. The tables are pretty tightly crammed into a small space, but that's the norm for San Francisco dining, I guess. Excellent Happy Hour specials, especially the mussels. And they have a full bar, which I appreciated. I'll definitely be back.

If you love tomato soup, Poesia is the place to go. I keep returning for their delicious soup. Their pasta dishes are delicious and severed hot out of the kitchen. This time we tried one of their drinks specials make with vodka and ginger beer. It was so good, everyone in our party ordered one. The wait staff is very friendly, helpful and efficient! I highly recommend it!

We've had several memorable dinners at Poesia over the last few years, so when it was time for us to decide on where to have a dinner in celebration of our wedding, Poesia was an instant choice for us.

Everything about the dinner, service and ambiance was exquisite and we ended up having a wonderful meal to round out our special day. Once again, Poesia delivered a dining experience that we will remember for a long time!

If you are looking for the perfect place to have a romantic dinner, or somewhere just to have delectable authentic Italian food, you'll find it at Poesia. We highly recommend this place!

Poesia has been one of our favorites for many years. The food is always well-prepared -- fresh and delicious, without being 'precious' or pretentious. The beet and goat cheese salad for example: It seems every restaurant has one, but here it's simple and pure -- the flavors pop without the latest trendy herbs to distract. The staff is always friendly and helpful. On our last visit, our waitress told us she had only been working their two weeks and had never worked as a server before. It was hard to believe, as she was very knowledgeable about the menu and suggested just the right wines to go with our meals. Buon apetito!

The service staff were very considerate and when they found out it was our anniversary, gave us extra attention and seated us great location by the window. Really appreciated! And not to mention, the food was proper, authentic Italian

Poesia is an amazing restaurant. The food is about as good as any restaurant in Italy! The service is impeccable and the restaurant is charming. The bartenders are great too, making authentic Italian concoctions and the wine is superb. In the heart of the Castro which is even better. Order the squid ink pasta which is probably the best thing on the menu!
