The restaurant is located in DC’s Chinatown at 777 I (EYE) Street NW, with the main entrance in the breezeway between I and K Streets. Designed by Swatchroom, the 70-seat interior is accented with colors of deep green and black, complimented with gold and bronze accents. Taco omakase was amazing! One of the best tasting menus I’ve had in DC
Fabulous staff. The team is eager to share their knowledge of the sumptuous food that Poca Madre has created. The drinks are out of this world. This is a true GEM in DC.
Drinks were great, they even made a beautiful mock-tail for my wife. Service was great, food was tasty/interesting.
Incredible wait staff, great atmosphere, and the food is another level.
Food was terrific. Server - Eddie - terrific. Busboys in too much of a hurry to remove plates and drinks. Lousy table next to misbehaving kids with aloof parents.
We took 2 friends for a wedding dinner everyone an everything was great. It was 12 of us and we used a private room - awesome... Ford at the restaurant coordinated everything - he's great too.
Phenomenal all around. Great food, fun and innovative flavors, and at very reasonable price points. 5 stars!
My husband and I did the Taco Omakase and were not disappointed. Each mini taco course was unique and tasty, and we were pretty full by the end of the meal. It was a bit pricey but overall a great experience.
This was my first experience dining at Poca Madre, and it was absolutely perfect, start to finish. Delicious food, inventively prepared and beautifully presented, lovely ambiance, and service that went above and beyond. Our waiter, Robert, and the manager, Brad, both couldn’t do enough for us and for our friend, who was celebrating a birthday. Poca Madre is a great addition to the DC dining scene. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
Our waiter was amazing! He did a great job of breaking down the flavors in every dish and he was spot on! The Waygu was amazing!!!
Had high hopes for a DC restaurant with Mexico City cuisine but this has succumbed to the small plate preciousness of DC trendy. Food was good, sometimes very good, but the whole gestalt was just out of sync with a cuisine that should be robust and refined at the same time. When the dishwasher is working harder than the chef you know there's too much emphasis on presentation and not enough on hungry customers. The decor, btw, is dismal and depressing, aside from the fact that you feel like you're eating in a work site as construction continues on Tech Plaza.
I’ll be thinking about this place for a long time. So great!
Fantastic food! The sable fish and ceviches are the best!
Food was excellent and server super helpful. Welcome cocktail was exceptional!
It was delicious. Service was great! Would recommend it to my friends)
Delicious and creative Mexican inspired food and very attentive service.
Great food and service. We were celebrating ny wife's birthday and we enjoyed ourselves.
An outstanding food and beverage experience. An extra treat if you have Jan (pronounced Yan) serving you. His passion for and knowledge of mezcal is unmatched and elevated an already delightful dinner.
Very nice ambiance and good service! Wonderful décor. I tried the Mexican chardonnay however was glad they had one from Monterey, CA. Unfortunately I was not able to try the NOT Guacamole as they did not have any avocado on the menu. Very refreshing place! If you cannot go to Mexico than bring Mexico to DC!
Fabulous and innovative food. Great service. Drinks were great. And a beautiful atmosphere.
I think we all know the gastronomy of this place is outstanding, however what really keeps me coming back is the ever-changing menu, different food selections all the time while still keeping the staples like the duck or the Tomahawk and the Mezcal libations are to die for.
Five stars all around for PM and high praises to chef Albisu.
My favorite place ever
I will recommend to everyone for sure
It’s so good and the service and the place is treasure I love it
I’m coming back again next Monday
This was sooo amazingly delicious! The staff were very nice. I’d absolutely go back... the taco tasting menu sounds so good and I’m sad it wasn’t available on the day we went.
This was one of the best meals I’ve had in dc. Everything was packed with flavor, and the whole experience really complimented the food.
Fantastic meal- unexpected location for wonderful restaurant. Cannot beat the octopus or donuts!!
We had a great experience at Poca Madre. The food is amazing. Everything we tried was delicious - we wanted seconds! Service is great also.
Not your usual Mexican restaurant. The chef is following in the footsteps of Enrique Olvera from Pujol, and creates very interesting dishes. For people who want to try something new, and good. Highly recommended.
We had the four course tasting menu with drink pairings. The food was perfect. It was served family style and there was enough to feed all four of us (10 Courses). Everyone left the table satisfied and enthralled by the quality of the food and its presentation. The two Ceviche, Pollo con Mole and Arroz Cremoso stood out. It was a delightful evening to catch up with friends. We will definitely meet friends there again!!
Food was unique and ambiance was amazing; boisterous but not overbearing
All around stellar!
Mexican takes on fine dining at poca madre. The entrees are full of flavor and leave you speechless and wanting more.
We had a fantastic experience at Poca Madre! The staff was very good and the food was excellent. We had the four course meal with cocktail pairing and each course was unique, well presented, and absolutely delicious! I will be returning soon.
The food was fenomenal and the service was spectacular!!! Great restaurant!!!
Fantastic experience for our 3 year anniversary. We selected the Taco Omakase which was 12 courses of delicious small bite food, paired with 5 varying drinks.
Absolutely beautiful interior, ambiance & food (taste & presentation). Could not be more delighted by the experience. Typically do not repeat visit restaurants on subsequent trips to major cities but this one I would. Highly recommend
The food and experience were average overall, and nothing about this restaurant made me feel motivated to return.
Delicious food and great service. Definitely try it.
This is one of my favorite places to eat in DC. Great food, great atmosphere, great service. It is a hidden treasure. Have dined there about 6 times, always fantastic!.They start you with a small complimentary custom cocktail which always tastes great. They specialize in creative drinks with a mezcal focus; however, they have superlative drinks with every ingredient.
They have many small and medium size plate options as well as larger dishes that can be shared. Among my favorites are the different cerviches and the octopus. The service is always wonderful. We have gotten to know Ramon, who is a character. He makes your meal fun and provides attentive service.
While I have dined there a few times, I want to return and try there 4 course dinner. Have heard it is excellent. The ambiance of the restaurant is quite good; however, it isn't what would call a "quiet dining experience". It is a fun vibe, not loud but not "stuffy" quiet dining.
The prices are not inexpensive, but the quality is phenomenal and well worth the cost. Everyone with whom I have dined with at the restaurant has been very happy and plans to return. Confident your experience with be similar.
For the most part, the six plates we shared were Very Good. The hamachi ceviche, however was not made with fresh fish given the pronounced amine flavor under the sauce. That first bite discolored what otherwise would have been a very positive experience. It's hard to recommend a restaurant to a friend if the discussion is, "Yes, but don't order the ceviche."
