Plaza III Steakhouse
This is the best kept secret in Overland Park/South Johnson County. We love the ambiance, the food, the drink and outstanding service. The management team circulates the dining room to ensure things are running smoothly.
Dine in the bar for a more casual vibe or choose the dining room for that special experience. Private dining rooms are also available. We are happy to see the Plaza III continue after years on the County Club Plaza.
I had the petite filet (prepared perfectly medium rare) and the crab cakes. My sister had the petite filet and the scallops. We shared the crab cakes and scallops. The scallops were amazing!! Our server, Ashley, was very nice and did a wonderful job.
We had a wonderful evening. Will definitely be back!
I’m sad to write this, but this place has the food quality of an Applebee’s and a price tag of a very high end restaurant. Food was mediocre - not bad/ not great but with the prices , I expected more. The ambiance is awful, no character. The old plaza 3 would be embarrassed by this one. I can’t see this place staying open for too much longer.
Went there for our anniversary. Best steak in KC. Filet was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Service was excellent. They threw in a soufflé for free for coming in to celebrate our occasion!
Really love their breakfast. Then menu is simple but everything is well done. Classic eggs Benedict is my favorite. The best poached eggs ever with a classic sauce. Can't beat it! Great coffee also.
The filet mignon was fantastic! Lovely warm atmosphere. I look forward to going back!
Great evening celebrating my husband’s birthday, wonderful food and excellent service!
The steak was good and service was great, but didn’t feels like the premier steakhouse it use to be. The ambiance was lacking and felt more like a bar and grill
Disappointing visit to the new Plaza III location--my steak was very nice and perfectly prepared, but the rest of the meal and service left much to be desired. Cocktails/drinks very slow to arrive (couldn't make several of the drinks requested--Sazerac for example--not an issue at other steakhouses in the area); sides were not very warm; two in our party (of 9) who ordered fish were very disappointed (halibut described as rubbery); ambiance was very lacking (certainly when compared to other competitors nearby and compared to old Plaza location); seemed understaffed as the host delivered our wine--he allowed me to taste it, generally got most of my guests served, but was then distracted when someone came in the door looking for a table and left me with nothing other than what was left of my initial taste to hustle off to the door and seat some folks--had to pour it myself (not a problem, but shouldn't have to do that)--also no one's glass was ever topped off even when servers visited the table--basically, we were on our own pouring wine (again, we can handle this, but shouldn't have to do so); desert options were good (generally well done) but couldn't make decaf coffee drinks, couldn't make a cappuccino etc. Just really wasn't a great experience, especially for what I spent. Unlikely I will be going back.
It was a wonderful anniversary dinner. Scallops were fantastic. Steak could of had more flavor but was very tender and still delicious. Waiter was excellent. Free dessert for our anniversary was a very nice touch. I would go again.
Service was great. Just thought it was overpriced.
The food was excellent!
Best steaks in K.C! Great atmosphere and service
Birthday dinner - service was outstanding!
The food is always wonderful. We had a new server, she did fairly well.
We had a lovely long leisurely lunch. Very pleasant experience with attentive friendly service from host John and waiter Tony. Looking forward to coming back for another lunch or dinner.
Saturday must be bad night.
We celebrated our Anniversary on Thursday the 19th of September. Baked Brie, prime Rib, vegetables and wine were all delicious. One small mistake was quickly corrected. Serving was prompt and excellent. Would recommend without hesitation.
Love the Plaza III, we had crab legs rather than steak this time and they were absolutely wonderful, also the chocolate soufflé is
amazing, service was great as always, great evening!
Our visit was for a special occasion - a birthday - and the dining experience befitted this. The entrees were a large ribeye steak and chopped beef steak topped with grilled vegetables and onions. The latter is apparently a specialty of the house, and anybody assumes that chopped beef is barred from the pantheon of fine dining is in for a rude shock upon ordering it. The meat alone is a delicious treat, but the toppings make it a gourmet dish. Based on history and tradition, one would expect Plaza III to produce an excellent steak and this ribeye is the equal, if not the master, of a comparable cut prepared by any other kitchen in the Kansas City area. The white cheddar potatoes au gratin were a deliriously rich and creamy side dish. The seafood bisque was, as always, delectable. And the quart of steak soup we took with us gave us several more wonderful meals to follow. If anything can fully cushion the blow of turning 68 years old, this meal was it - it turned what would otherwise be a dismal reminder of mortality into an imperishable memory.
Not busy but service was slow. Other waiters were more attentive to their table than our waiter. Service should be excellent for a $200 dinner for two, it was below average.
Will never go back!
waiter outstanding and his trainee was very nice and cheerful
Both my wife and I got sick after eating this very expensive dinner. Will never go back
Wonderful dining experience with outstanding service.
Hands down best steakhouse in the Kansas City area! Could use a better selection of imported beer for a high end establishment.
food was excellent, waiter was very nice, the salmon was delicious and so was the shrimp cocktail. only complaint was it too forever for each course to come out, which was weird since the restaurant was practically empty
Our evening at Plaza III was wonderful from the minute we walked in until we left. The restaurant was quiet, even though it was fairly busy. Our server, Anna, was amazing and fun. The food was delicious, steak soup, tomato-mozzarella salad, KC Strip, and Cheesecake. Good wine list and Manhattans were very good as well. I would recommend Plaza III to anyone.
The food was wonderful and the server was attentive without being overbearing
excellent food, excellent service, menu had great variety.
This is one of the best places in The area for happy hour. Great food and drink specials, comfortable, and not too noisy to enjoy good conversation
This wasn't the best experience I have had at PIII. My seafood bisque was not warm. We were never offered anything to drink. Water was delivered to the table, but never a word was said about anything else until I got the attention of our server after our food had been delivered. I'm use to much better food and service. Fortunately, however, my friend's chicken salad sandwich was delicious according to her.
Superb food and stellar service. Ashley is wonderful!! We will be back.
Food was good. Service was a little slow for no one being there. Fish was dry so make sure you get it with a sauce. A little over priced.
I had not eaten at the new Plaza III location since it moved from the Plaza. I loved the ambiance of the Plaza location, but this location is a sign of the times in Johnson County. I would prefer the restaurant to be a stand a lone building rather than be included in a strip shopping center and wonder if this should be further east or south to survive in the JOCO restaurant world. It is very expansive; the former space had intimate rooms to be seated in with white table cloths. I suppose it depends on what age group you are enticing into the restaurant. My husband and go to a restaurant for the food not particularly the social draw. I hope this makes it for years to come. It would be a shame for this iconic restaurant to meet a demise like so many have in past years. The Bristol, another former Plaza establishment, seems to have found a niche in JOCO.
Wonderful experience. Quiet environment. Fantastic food and service. Exceeded expectations for restaurant in a strip mall.
Server was excellent, however, food took over 45 minutes to arrive, arrived in "waves", sides were late, food was not hot on arrival. Not good, especially because place was NOT busy! Server and manager apologized and took a discount off of the bill. Not
I was so amazed at the decor, level of service and food. We eat out often and will make Plaza III on the top of our list frequently.
In fact we were so impressed for breakfast, we went back again the same afternoon.
While I'm no fond of the new location, I am still a fan of Plaza III and their AMAZING steaks! Love the decor. Service was excellent and steaks were prepared exactly as requested. No restaurant in Kansas City Area serves a better quality steak. If you're not a steak lover, there are other options which are equally as good.
