Plaza III Steakhouse
Will never go back!
waiter outstanding and his trainee was very nice and cheerful
Both my wife and I got sick after eating this very expensive dinner. Will never go back
Wonderful dining experience with outstanding service.
Hands down best steakhouse in the Kansas City area! Could use a better selection of imported beer for a high end establishment.
food was excellent, waiter was very nice, the salmon was delicious and so was the shrimp cocktail. only complaint was it too forever for each course to come out, which was weird since the restaurant was practically empty
Our evening at Plaza III was wonderful from the minute we walked in until we left. The restaurant was quiet, even though it was fairly busy. Our server, Anna, was amazing and fun. The food was delicious, steak soup, tomato-mozzarella salad, KC Strip, and Cheesecake. Good wine list and Manhattans were very good as well. I would recommend Plaza III to anyone.
The food was wonderful and the server was attentive without being overbearing
excellent food, excellent service, menu had great variety.
This is one of the best places in The area for happy hour. Great food and drink specials, comfortable, and not too noisy to enjoy good conversation
This wasn't the best experience I have had at PIII. My seafood bisque was not warm. We were never offered anything to drink. Water was delivered to the table, but never a word was said about anything else until I got the attention of our server after our food had been delivered. I'm use to much better food and service. Fortunately, however, my friend's chicken salad sandwich was delicious according to her.
Superb food and stellar service. Ashley is wonderful!! We will be back.
Food was good. Service was a little slow for no one being there. Fish was dry so make sure you get it with a sauce. A little over priced.
I had not eaten at the new Plaza III location since it moved from the Plaza. I loved the ambiance of the Plaza location, but this location is a sign of the times in Johnson County. I would prefer the restaurant to be a stand a lone building rather than be included in a strip shopping center and wonder if this should be further east or south to survive in the JOCO restaurant world. It is very expansive; the former space had intimate rooms to be seated in with white table cloths. I suppose it depends on what age group you are enticing into the restaurant. My husband and go to a restaurant for the food not particularly the social draw. I hope this makes it for years to come. It would be a shame for this iconic restaurant to meet a demise like so many have in past years. The Bristol, another former Plaza establishment, seems to have found a niche in JOCO.
Wonderful experience. Quiet environment. Fantastic food and service. Exceeded expectations for restaurant in a strip mall.
Server was excellent, however, food took over 45 minutes to arrive, arrived in "waves", sides were late, food was not hot on arrival. Not good, especially because place was NOT busy! Server and manager apologized and took a discount off of the bill. Not
I was so amazed at the decor, level of service and food. We eat out often and will make Plaza III on the top of our list frequently.
In fact we were so impressed for breakfast, we went back again the same afternoon.
While I'm no fond of the new location, I am still a fan of Plaza III and their AMAZING steaks! Love the decor. Service was excellent and steaks were prepared exactly as requested. No restaurant in Kansas City Area serves a better quality steak. If you're not a steak lover, there are other options which are equally as good.
Brittany was our server. She was very professional and made our dinner extra special.
The food was delicious.
Food and service were excellent. this was our third time at the new location. Apparently, others are not sharing our enthusiasm for it as it was empty on a Friday night. Not a good sign for this place. too bad, it is really good. I hope it catches on better with time.
The bread and butter are excellent. The Cobb salad was very good. The complimentary chocolate cake for the birthday girl was outstanding.
The restaurant general manager came over to our table to check on us several times. The wait staff provided excellent recommendations for accompaniments to our orders. The steaks were perfectly prepared. Thanks for a wonderful evening!
Sad that this used to be Kansas City’s premier independent restaurant. New location feels like a Longhorn steak house. Server was woefully inexperienced. Food was ok, but I can cook a pretty good steak at home.
Both food and service were excellent.
Visited 8/4 for breakfast, greeted right away by server who took our order. We were buzzed and lit on by numerous flies relentlessly, the ladies at the nearby table complained to the manager of the same thing who said the delivery people had left a back door open. With only 3 tables seated, we expected our food wouldn't take long but after 30 minutes with no return of our server, the manager came out to apologize to us and another table about the flies and the delay on food and that our order was about ready. After another 10 minutes (now 40 total) and with no server or manager to tell, we decided to leave. This visit to Plaza III was terrible and we won't be quick to give it another opportunity.
Excellent service, excellent food, very prompt with each course but not pushy. Waitress knew the menu and made excellent suggestions. We had a fabulous dinner in all aspects.
Tony was an excellent server. Enjoyed everything about our lunch there!!
Excellent food and service
I would recommend Plaza III for a special dinner if one is willing to spend the money. The food was good and our server was very friendly and tried to be accomodating. My friend's chopped steak was not done to her liking, not done enough for her. She did really enjoy her wedge salad. My steak & scallops were fine. However, prices were outrageous even for southern Overland Park. I did enjoy the quiet of the restaurant.
Fabulous meal, great service. Our steaks were fantastic and their sautéed mushrooms are to die for!
Excellent lunch occasion. Waiter was great. Food was as outstanding as at the old Plaza III on
Wonderful service!! Carla was our server!!
At this price point I expected better food and service. The scallops were over cooked and tough. The petite filets were bland and not tender (cooked medium and medium rare). The sides (asparagus, garlic potatoes, seasonal veggies) were fine. The crab cakes were the only really good items we tried. The service, while friendly, lacked an attention to detail. For example, empty non-used wine glasses left on the table, empty appetizer plates left on the table (we ended up stacking them and moving them to the edge of the table to make room for our entrees), no fresh small plates for the bread, etc. Not terrible service but again, at this price point I expect better. We won’t be visiting again. We will go to The Bristol or J. Gilbert’s where the food and service is always outstanding.
Great, will be a regular definitely for lunches and dinners
Good for a special occasion! The manager and waitress were excellent and the food absolutely awesome
Service was very slow. We arrived at 9:00 am (with reservations) for Sunday brunch. Had to ask 3 employees for more coffee before we received it. The restaurant was not that busy. The manager (or who appeared to be manager) seemed monumentally uninterested in his job. Two of us got ill within an hour of eating. I think it may have been the spinach in the Florentine Benedict.
Was happy to hear that the restaurant is back open. Tim is the epitome of great service. Great food, great service, great wine list.
We had a great dinner at Plaza III. The waiter was friendly and tended well to us. The food was good and the restaurant was fairly quiet. The location is very convenient and parking was very easy. We will definitely be back!
Somewhat disappointed. Being a KC native, always heard great things about the location on the Plaza but we didn't get a chance before it closed. Decided to give the new location in Overland Park a shot and it was lackluster. Restaurant was oddly dead at 6:30, maybe 3 or 4 tables seated in the whole restaurant. Ambiance was nice and interior was decorated superb. We were seated and the waiter brought us over a veggie bowl on ice, interesting concept, but didn't touch it as the veggies didn't look fresh. Carrots were pre-cut as if they have been sitting in a fridge for weeks, splitting, dried up and white. The veggie bowl seemed cheesy and unappetizing. Bread was brought out slightly after, tasted great but was a bit hard and butter the same, difficult to spread and needed to be softer. As for the main course, our filet was cooked to perfection, low fat content and texture was what we'd expected at Plaza III...but what we didn't expect was the lack of flavor. We tried dipping in the sauce coupled with it, we both thought it didn't pair well and had unique flavoring that tasted like docile flat mustard with slight seasoning. Unfortunately the sides did not up the experience either. I had the garlic mashed potato, coming from a person that LOVES garlic, it was overwhelming. I ended up leaving most of it because it was so pungent. Baked potato was good, minus the insanely large dollop of sour cream. Literally overflowing. Used maybe a fourth total. Best part about the meal was the key lime pie, it was delectable and wish we didn't split it! For the service, it was a little slower than expected with the amount of customers inside. Waiter was kind, nice and knowledgeable but seemed very nervous and not confident, didn't make eye contact once to us. Overall, it sadly was not what we hoped for with a $150+ meal, especially when there are better options in the same price range and and prestige (J. Alexanders and Sullivans) down the street. We'll probably not revisit again.
Excellent food and top-notch service. Highly recommend for special occasions.
