Plaza III Steakhouse
One of the best meals I’ve ever had.
Went during the last snow storm. Was very quiet in the restaurant but service was attentive and a good balance of attention and letting us talk. Scallops were awesome.
First time to this new address. My only complaint was that my steak was rather thin but was cooked as ordered (medium rare). It was too chewy for a prime steak at a well known steak house. My guest, however, enjoyed her steak and had no complaints. I'm willing to try again but this trip was a little short of expectations.
We always go back for a second look. One. Valentine’s Day can be a madhouse . Two. We won’t have the same server who really was the problem
The food is good but every time we go the service is not good. There always is a lot of confusion and delays.
They were busy what he was pointed at was not a wine list but the special of the day list!!!!! He did go we decided to eat them after waiting 10 minutes for him to come by & check on us. It was definitely bad service & food was just adequate at best.
Everything was great
Fred, the wine manager is beyond awesome . The best part of the meal was the over-the-top wine he recommended. I mean it. Made the meal. The food is good, but on a busy night like Valentine's Day, things can't be expected to be perfect.... the place was jammed and humming. I have had better on an off-night food wise. But, I am VERY picky and used to the OVER the TOP meals they have at Plaza III. Probably the best restaurant in KC. Now, they are not only the best food, they have the best wine.
Best steak anywhere, ever! Love the new location. Great food, excellent service, wonderful staff. Highly recommend.
Best porterhouse steak ever. This will become our go to restaurant for special occasions.
FOOD WAS MEDIOCRE, OVER PRICED AND THE SERVICE COULD USE SOME COMPREHENSIVE TRAINING. THE ROOM DESIGN WAS POOR AND FIT THE FOOD. I HAVE SPOKE WITH TWO OF MY FRIENDS WHO HAVE THE SAME OPINION AND NONE OF US WILL GO BACK. SO SAD BECAUSE IT USED TO BE SO GREAT ON THE PLAZA.
I was pleased with the whole experience. It was my birthday and I am allergic to wheat, they worked with me although mostly everything was gluten free. So I was extremely pleased.
Same great food and service just in a new place! The only complaint I had is that it was kinda loud!
Had not been to the plaza 111 on the plaza for many years but remembered how good it was so decided to visit new location on Metcalf. Enjoyed everything. The food was wonderful and service was great only complaint was we both got the wrong salad dressing but our server was so busy and nice we didn’t mention it. Plan to go back in the future and would recommend new location
Best Steak in KC! The service and atmosphere is tops.
Three of us were at Plaza III for lunch. The service was excellent and we all enjoyed our meals very much.
Really like the new Plaza III.
The steak was fantastic. Perfectly prepared. The Brussels sprouts were among the best I’ve had in a restaurant. Service was very attentive but not quite as polished as the previous Plaza location. My wife and I have been Plaza 3 regulars for many years. We were pleased to see it reopen. The food will definiately keep us coming back. I miss the subdued ambiance of the previous location and the white table cloths. The noise level was a bit high. Still pricey but worth it.
Parking was a major problem! Food was excellent, service was good.
Everything we ordered was prepared perfectly and tasted great. The service was attentive and very professional. Great atmosphere for an intimate dinner. We’ll definitely be back.
Great experience. All staff was amazing. Summer was a great waitress. Will be back!!!!
Nice service. Food was average. Salad overdressed.
Nice ambiance with spacious and quiet atmosphere during a mid-week dinner. Lobster tail was under cooked and small. However the petite filet was cooked correctly. Overall it was good but overpriced. Wine by the glass is very experience. Should offer a few red wine choices that are less expensive. Also for the price of the dinner should include at least a choice of salad or a side dish.
It was nice to learn they are now offering breakfast.
Dinner was great.. bar service for happy hour needs a little work. Its suppose to be fun " Happy Hour" not stressful.
Very good food. Filet tastes better than strip steak. Side dishes huge. Can feed 2 or more. I took wife there for birthday..noted it on reservation. Disappointed on restaurants follow thru...they did not note or acknowledge. I figured lack of communication between hostess and server. Hostess also told open table we were a no show. Which again a hostess mistake. Sense a pattern? Expensive desserts. Nice restaurant, classy.
Overall it was a positive experience, but I thought it was over priced.
We are so glad this place moved from the Plaza! We went for restaurant week and were more than pleased with our food and service. We tried breakfast the next morning and were equally pleased. This is our new favorite dining space. The steak was tender, the shrimp huge and tasteful, the salad cold and crisp, the desserts flavorful (chocolate cake and key lime torte). We also loved the baked brie appetizer, and it was worth the extra wait for prep. Overall, and outstanding dining experience!
As always, a fabulous evening! Hubby had the restaurant week menu with a really nice cut of strip steak. I had the prime rib which is fantastic. Great service and the best key lime pie ever!
Food was excellent. We went for restaurant week as we had not been to their new location. Since we're in Olathe this was close by and super easy to get to. Service was good as well and being restaurant week, we expected it to be busy. But we will certainly be back!
We went for restaurant week and the food was outstanding along with the service.
Service was poor. Not told dressing picked was extra money, not told ice cream on desert was extra money, service was slow.
Expected more than a 1 inch thick steak at a premier steak house.
Coffee was served after desert was consumed.
Overall not happy with experience.
Went for restaurant week and ordered a steak medium. Came out well done. Sent it back and got one that was nearly rare. I mean, for a steak house, it was pretty embarrassing. The servers looked a little unkept and the manager that came around didn’t even question why I was throwing away a barely eaten steak. The key lime pie was delish. We use restaurant week to try out many new places to know where to go when we splurge. We’re definately not returning here.
I had steak and crab cakes. The food is amazing as always with Plaza III. Salad was fresh, bread is wonderful! I gave service three stars, because I never received a cocktail menu, even after I asked for one. Seems like I shouldn't have to ask for a cocktail menu. Anyway, maybe it was an off night.
We went to the new Plaza III last Saturday evening. I'm not sure what we were expecting but it didn't meet up to even the smallest of expectations. First of all, I noted on my Open Table reservation that we were coming there to celebrate my husband's birthday. When the Plaza III was located on the Plaza, it was a favorite spot of ours. No one even mentioned Happy Birthday or asked if we were there to celebrate a special event. And, having this new location in a strip mall was a surprise. Next, we were seated in the bar area which we were not expecting. A birthday meal is worthy of the dining room--and, they didn't even inquire whether we minded that or not. I have to say, in all fairness to the Plaza III, it was the end of restaurant week and I'm sure staff was tired. At least that's what our server told us multiple times. Upon checking in, it appeared to be very disorganized as to who had what table. We had to ask more than once for bread and the veggies they always offer. The service was not good at all and the food left my stomach churning--it was very salty and the onion straws greasy. The salad came out before our appetizer. My husband's steak was not what we would expect from Plaza III. We won't be back. Too bad, the high class restaurant with delicious food and ambience is gone. This new location is marginal, at best. Very disappointed! They have lots of work to do to improve!
It was great.
My first time at Plaza III. Food was fantastic, service was excellent.. they heard it was our anniversary and provided a free delicious dessert of our choice. Everyone was very friendly as well.. definitely plan on going there again and again!
Absolutely adorable server but this is not your idea of Plaza III. Steak soup was good. Plaza III in a strip mall is likely not to make it. KC has developed some great steakhouses since Plaza III was in its prime.
Made to wait 15 minutes for our table despite having a reservations and others arriving after us but being sat before is.
When we were eventually sat, we were placed on a make shift table in the middle of the corridor/walkway on its own.
For an expensive restaurant this is unacceptable.
Celiacs Be Ware! Waiter was notified of Celiac issue. After requesting no croutons and discussing Gluten-free menu options, salad contained a crouton that was not discovered until the salad was half-eaten. Waiter said ‘sorry about that’ but nothing was done.
We used Restaurant Week to treat ourselves to a meal at the relocated Plaza III...and we were not disappointed! From the crudités, to the warm bread, house salad, steak, potatoes, asparagus and key lime pie, the only complaint was how full we were when we left!
