Plaza Cafe Southside
Made from Scratch, that’s how we make our food. We use recipes that have been handed down for generations, and we use fresh, simple, honest, quality ingredients.
We believe that when a meal is prepared and cooked fresh with the best ingredients, it not only tastes better it makes you feel better. Of course, this takes time. But we’ve got time. That’s why we start baking early in the morning . All day long we’re cutting and chopping to ensure your food is always the freshest it can be.
Not everyone makes the effort to do things this way. But we do. We hope you enjoy every moment and every bite. When we see the smile on your face and know you are enjoying our food that is made of quality and care, that motivates us to start again from scratch every day.
Friday - Saturday: 8:00am - 10:00pm
Great service, food was great too!
For years this was a "go to" place for food quality, ambience and service. Thsi little birthday visit for six recently was a disaster. Many of us tried "The Impossible Burger", which was fair at best and not a very good value as are most the entrees, since the pricing points seem to increse with every visit. The gyro sandwich was almost non-existent for the price. I mentioned to the hostess that we had a reservation for six and if there was a dessert available for the celebrant. I was advised that a cupcake could be provided, so I order it and it never arrived. Also it took foreever for the waiter to get drink refills and I thought we could never get a check.
We will look elsewhere for these small occasions.
Great food and great service! Try the Greek fries!
Really nice outdoor patio area with live music. Get there early enough to get an umbrella table if it is a hot and sunny day. Really tasty food.
We hit this place before a movie. It is very welcoming, and the food is comforting.
This is our "Cheers"! Always, reliable, friendly service combined with delicious, freshly made food. Ask for Antonio for an optimum experience, although the entire staff of servers do a great job.
Made a reservation on open table for two; when we got to the restaurant the greeter could not have cared less about the reservation and when asked if we'd be OK with a high top table, she handed us some menus and said "you can seat yourselves wherever". Early on, someone who turned out to be the manager took a drink order and then proceeded to bring the wrong order then disappeared after plopping them on the table. We brought this to the attention of the bar tender who corrected the error. Then, after 30 minutes without seeing a server, the bar tender came over, apologized for the delay and took our order. While we were waiting for food, another server came over and asked if we wanted to see a dessert menu.... The bar tender brought our orders and proceeded to try to make things right. The same server who asked about desert later came over and asked how everything turned out and I politely asked if there was a manager available, and he replied yes. A short time later, the same person who initially had brought the incorrect drink order showed up at the table, adopting a hands-on-hips semi fighting stance; I explained how the dining experience was potentially really bad but the bar tender had gone out if his way to make it right; he acted as though he really wasn't interested... I cannot honestly recommend this restaurant based on this experience.
The food was good but it took forever to get.
Service was friendly but the timing was terrible. Our table of 4 ordered margarita cocktails and our main courses arrived 1 minute later. There was now barely enough room to put our glasses down. The Fried Calamari appetizer came half way through the meal after we reminded the waiter that it hadn't arrived. It wasn't worth the wait.
My Crispy Avacado Tacos were very good but the rice and beans sides were nothing special.
The other main dishes were okay but with all the first rate restaurants available in Santa Fe, we could have done better.
Yet again, this was excellent. Loved the French Toast!
We eat here all the time. It is our go-to for a casual meal with our young kids, but we generally only eat breakfast or lunch. The staff are usually very friendly and accommodating. We tried for a family get-together for Mother's day lunch and were not feeling the usual vibe. It was an off-day on a very busy restaurant holiday. We set up a reservation, then called to confirm and were rudely told that they did not take reservations. I assume the restaurant neglected to make that notification on Open-table. We will continue to go to the cafe, but not for special occasions.
Great vibe and decor.
Staff was friendly and attentive.
Food was tasty.
Food was very good. Many choices, from Mexican to Mediterranean Greek, very fresh. The chicken enchillads were filled with breast meat.
The food was delicious and outstanding! The girl cleaning the tables was excellent however our waiter was NOT. The service would be my only apprehension of recommending this restaurant but the food was so wonderful and authentic I would recommend it to a friend.
Best place in Santa Fe for a vegetarian and a meat-eater to go for a date!
This is our "go to" restaurant in Santa Fe. We will move here soon and are already planning on eating here at least once weekly. Reliable food, service, and reasonable prices. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone!
I love this place. Good food, excellent service. Best coconut cream pie in the world.
Very good food, good value, excellent service. Would definitely go back.
This was vacation for us. Food was good. Somewhat disappointed based on online info and reviews.
We eat here often. I recently went with a friend for an early lunch and the bacon that they serve is probably the best bacon I have ever had. Love this place!
Not sure how this place has won any awards. Our food was just ok at best. Could tell it was frozen not authentic like all the other restaurants we are used to when we visit Santa Fe. Disappointed
We took are friends out to this restaurant. It was amazing. My waiter was so amazing.
We have been to the Plaza Cafe many times, love it for Breakfast- Blue Corn-Piñon Pancakes!! Lunch and Dinner offer many delicious choices, check out Happy Hour from 3-6 PM 👍
My family enjoys going to Plaza Cafe Southside for any reason or meal. My daughter loves the hash browns, so orders breakfast for any meal. My husband thinks the brownies are the best he’s ever had (and he is a brownie fanatic), so the meal is secondary to dessert for him. I enjoy PC-S because I’ve never been disappointed with the food or the service. I don’t give it 5 Stars all around only because it can be hard to engage in conversation at the table when the place is jammed - and it’s usually jammed. But it’s worth the noise to have a good meal and free parking in Santa Fe!
Restaurant Week at Plaza Cafe Southside--three courses for $15--bargain--fresh salad, avocado tacos, tres leche cupcake. All the food was tasty and the cupcake was outstanding.
Excellent service--fast refils on coffee and on the take out dessert ordered with meal. A favorite for brunch and for lunch with friends.
Always good food and service! It’s one of our family’s favorite places to go in Santa Fe.
Just like the Plaza Cafe that's really on the Plaza - this place serves yummy New Mexican food that certainly hits that spot. We had the enchiladas mole, and the posole - really delicious. The server was very attentive and we had a great meal and a great time.
Great variety of menu choices. Lively, casual atmosphere and great food.
This restaurant is our "go to" place when we are trying to decide where to go close to home. The food is always good and if they have the tuna melt as a special, get it!
Food was good but very expensive. We had the pozole , enchiladas and hamburgers and we paid $150.00
Way too much ....
Always love eating at Plaza Café Southside. Great food, friendly staff and always leave filling full.
Very pleased with breakfast choices. The service was impeccable and friendly. So much easier than going to the Plaza for lunch.
This outstanding restaurant adds the spice of a cosmopolitan Santa Fe to its traditional foods and drinks. Try the Quatroleche cupcakes for a taste thrill. Incredible subtle taste and texture with creamy icing on top. The green and red chili "stews" are hot and delicious and use the finest local meats. The mixed green salad is superbly fresh and crispy. The staff, for the most part has been with the Southside for at least 15 years. It is a big family feeling experience, dining at Southside.
This is not a gourmet restaurant, but the food is tasty and affordable. Our waiter was very pleasant, but he was obviously overwhelmed by the crowd. I ordered a milkshake and he specifically asked if I wanted whipped cream on it. I said "no" but, when the drinks arrived, there was whipped cream on my milkshake. My husband ordered a Greek salad and got a taco plate. But mistakes happen on busy nights and, overall, I was satisfied and might go back at a less busy time (Friday evening).
We had a lovely dinner with my wife's sister and husband and it met expectations and then some. It very nice to be served by a staff that makes you feel so welcome. The food was great, too
Great food, good service, good atmosphere, enjoyed the experience
Good cafe food, great service — but it was a quiet night. I’ve been here when it was crowded — and it was mayhem. They aplogized for the erratic service, but we just left.
It’s a cafe, what can I say?
Always love the food and service. We are always quickly seated and served. Love the art on the walls around the bar area!
Italian Vinaigrette on salad was thick like mayo with awful spice. Only dry chicken inside enchiladas with little sauce and speck of cheese on top. Fries rubbery and undercooked. Yelp led us wrong. No one was there and restaurant next door was hoppin. Shoulda paid attention to that.
