We’ve ordered to go many times and the food was amazing. Decided to dine in there and I won’t be back. The service was mediocre and the “prosciutto” we ordered on our pizza was pancetta (and cold). The bathrooms were FILTHY- no toilet paper and not one toilet had been flushed in what seemed like days- not ok.
Great pizza and bites in a lively place.
Best pizza I’ve had in San Antonio!
Playland treats you like a tourist with ambivalent service rushing to turn the table even in a half empty restaurant. The food was good though the prices are high. The restaurant was loud and dark even with floor to ceiling windows.
Best pizza in San Antonio! Staff was very nice and helpful, top notch experience!
This place is always amazing!
I let the bartender( Daniel-I think🥴) know the “type” of drink I like then told him to use his judgement! RIGHT ON TARGET!!! Was a great drink🥃. The food did NOT disappoint either! Will definitely go back and refer my friends to try. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great food. Great service We enjoyed the restaurant. Good value, Portions large enough for sharing
Went to Playland with son before a play. The modern vibe was cool and there was a mix of patrons both young and old enjoying some wine and pizza. Our waiter was very personable but felt that our food was a bit rushed. Our appetizer came out and soon after so did our pizza. Probably would have liked some time to enjoy our first course. Also noticed that some tables received pizza stands and others had pizzas that were delivered on the table. Not sure how they decide who gets one or not. In all it was a good experience and we will be back again.
Pizza crust was kinda burned but really good stuff!
Amazing pizza, fun appetizers, good service. Great place for dinner before a show downtown. We will be back
I’m not that impressed with the appetizers, but the pizza and salads are delicious! I totally recommend this restaurant.
Better than most! Nice aura, great drinks & wine list. Portions were outstanding and the pizza was above the regular Italian cuisine, with outstanding toppings. Great service. We will return.
Love the sour dough pizza crust!!! Incredible appetizers!! The decor is very eclectic and amusing :)
Really kind of disappointed. The place had a cool vibe but the food was just average. Ordered 4 pizzas and the crust was burned on two. By the time you pay for parking, not really worth the trouble.
Great place. Fantastic food. Pizzas are superb.
The best pizza, the best ingredients. Kudos.
I'd been there several times but this was a first for my husband and he loved it. The apps are really greats and the service was equally great. The pizza was outstanding. We will definitely go again even thought we live the the far Northside.
Our reservation table for 6 six was ready and they sat us right away. The service was great and the pizza and fresh salads were delightful. We will be back again soon.
We went here before seeing a show at the Majestic (one block away) and food and cocktails were outstanding!!
wonderful service with great pizza!
Had a wonderful experience, this place is more than just pizza. The pizza was delicious and just the right size so I felt my family could order a few to get a variety. The appetizers were amazing (jalapeño poppers and fried green tomatoes) both were innovative takes on something otherwise very common. If you love Mexican martinis or margaritas on the rock, you have to try the Ghost Train. Yum!!!
Both times we’ve been we really enjoyed the food. Both times the service has been very uneven. On this latest visit, our salads, appetizer and pizza all came out at the same time and we did not really enjoy that. We had to ask for sweetener for tea, the salt and pepper, then cheese and red pepper and also to get refills on drinks. You shouldn’t have to ask for those things with an attentive server.
There was a hair in my salad that I discovered after eating most of it. I had to tell the waiter not to charge me for it. He should have offered that. Instead he told the kitchen to make another salad. Also, he never apologized for the hair. He seemed annoyed by the entire incident.
The fried mushrooms were good as were the cocktails. The pizza was disappointing. It was burned on the crust which the server indicated was because it was cooked in a wood burning stove. Plus the sauce was runny. I have eaten pizza in NYC cooked in a wood burning stove that was not burned. If I go again, it will be for appetizers and cocktails and not the pizza. (BTW our table had not been wiped down.)
They no longer serve the bacon wrapped jalepenos (pictured here). And NO margaritas! The pizza was good, though a little burnt. Probably won't be back, sorry. The atmosphere was great though. Work on the food/menu!
We had a great server and our food was really good.
This just might be the best pizza in San Antonio!! Kind of bummer to get to this slightly weird place tho. Finding parking was a bummer but maybe/probably we don't know the right place to look. Table was ready for us which is always nice. The inside vibe was a little weird to everyone in our party. Too stark? Disconnected theme? Sterile but amusement park but sports on the TV, everything shiny. Drinks were creative and tasty. Everyone gave the onion rings/bbq sauce and pimento cheese poppers an enthusiastic thumbs up. The queso fundido didn't go over as well - weirdly lacked flavor or the gummy cheddar. We each ordered a pizza so we had a great selection. Pepperoni with jalapeños was spicy but not too. Cremini a River was super tasty. Pulled pork was really good and that sauce is excellent. The Queen was super well balanced but a wee salty. The crust is the SUPERSTAR! I'd say you could put anything on that crust and it would be delicious but that wasn't true about the brie and pear pizza. We took leftovers of all but that one. No one liked it. Is there dessert? Coffee to help sober up from The Hammer? No idea because the bill was delivered while we were still munching on the crusts. Pizzas are $15+ each so plan accordingly. We would definitely go back but hopefully for a table outside and now we know what to order again and to pass on. And I really need to figure out where to park!
Back again for enjoyable evening at this gem. Great pizza and appetizers are served. The staff is friendly and the service is good. We came around 6 pm Friday evening with reservations. That is probably a good idea on a Friday evening.
Great pizza, neat place, music a bit too loud and bizarre.
For the first time that I can recall, the pizza actually disappointed us. You’re known for consistency and quality and pizza slices that have integrity when you pick them up. This past Friday, both the Buried Pleasure and the S&M seemed undercooked (crust wise) which meant the toppings were sliding off the slice and staying in the pan.
Great location downtown San Antonio. Though they may have been hosting a happy hour, the restaurant was extremely noisy. The beer battered fired mushrooms weren’t very good as the batter was way to heavy. The loaded tater tots were yummy. Pizza was a thin crust with fresh ingredients, and very tasty.
Nice evening on Saturday night (03/09/19) so we sat outside. Our waitress came over after a short time and overall, seemed as though she would have preferred to be anywhere also but here. We got our appetizers and had to ask her to bring silverware, napkins and plates. The food was very good from the appetizers to the salad, to the two different pizzas we ordered. Twice we had to look around and ask for her to come back to table to refill my iced tea. Again had to ask another of the wait staff to find her to order a bar drink for my wife. And lastly had to ask for her to come and bring our check. The service was just not good. We would definitely go back because the food was really so good but I would not want this young lady to wait on us.
Great food and drinks. Casual dining.
Pizza was out of this world!!! The sour dough crust was unbelievable! We also had Char Siu Cauliflower as an appetizer.....fantastic!!
Loved the service!
Arrived exactly at the reservation time of 6:15 on Valentine’s Day and were seated immediately.... right next to another couple even though on that row of seating of 16 chairs in the row they were the only other people there. Very uncomfortable.
As far as food, we had onion rings for an appetizer which were decent, good texture but the flavor was unusual and not bad but not great. The pizza was not good at all 😤. It was a semi thin crust pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms . First we were served a pizza with the toppings we had ordered but no cheese. We just thought that there was very little cheese an as we were eating the first slice, the server, helpfully came by with drinks and noticed the pizza was wrong and took it back to bring the correct one. Both were very soggy and limp in the middle so that you had to eat with a knife and fork. Which was almost impossible to cut with the butter knife provided. Later both of us had upset stomachs, so overall not a great experience. Not recommended
Food was absolutely fantastic! Best pizza in the area! Location close to so many attractions. We'll definitely be going there again soon!
My kids and I went to Playland for Valentine’s Day. Our server was polite and attentive! The flatbread appetizer was really good, and the pizza was nice too. When I got a dipping sauce that was strange, he apologized and took it off of the bill without me even having to ask. It was great! We loved the ambience and the people watching was good too.
The best part was when some kind couple picked up our bill - I was so touched. They left a note saying what a great mom I seemed to be and wished us a Happy Valentines Day. As a newly single mom, it made a sad day bright. ❤️
