Everything about Playa Betty's was superb!
From the minute we entered the restaurant, we were welcomed and assisted as needed. Our table was ready and there was no waiting.
The menu offers so many enticing selections that it was difficult to decide; we even thought of dining dim sum style by ordering a host of appetizers, but decided instead on sharing 2 appetizers and ordering separate an entrées . We asked our waitress, Chrissie, for suggestions, followed them, and were very pleased with the meal. The carnitas were unlike any I've had in other restaurants -- and far better! The chicken enchiladas that my friend devoured looked delicious and got a rave review.
Chrissie recommended we top off the meal with the churro sandwich (filled with creamy ice cream), and, again, her suggestion hit the mark.
Chrissie held the door as we left, ensuring that my friend (who uses a rollator) exited safely.
Will we go back to Playa Betty's? You can count on it!
Good food and drink. Excellent service. Perfect location for hanging out before a concert at the Beacon Theater.
Loved the taco platter and margaritas
Perfect for a pre beacon dinner ..
Enchiladas and dharma bowls are the way to go! The margs are fantastic.
Went with family to have bottomless brunch. Reservation for 2pm on a Sunday and it was packed and noisy! Drinks were ok and decently strong for bottomless. Apps were good, but entrees lacked flavor.
The food I really good! And the ambiance is lively and fun!
That food is fantastic!
Visiting NYC from Florida for the weekend, we passed by the restaurant and decided to make a reservation. Service and food were outstanding but the place was very noisy. However, the food was so yummy that I will definitely go back when I visit NYC again despite the noise. Buffalo Cauliflower was delicious as well as the tacos. Highly recommend for casual dining.
I went to dine here with 2 friends. The waiter told me the drinks specials. He then proceeded to tell me about the hockey game he went to. I was listening but while he was telling my my friend texted me asking where we were sitting. I was responding to her and told him excuse me a moment, he stormed off. My other friend arrived, I asked him to please repeat the drink specials. As he was doing so my friend simply asked “is this written down on a menu so we can have this on the table ?” Where we were seated, the pole was blocking the board above the bar. The waiter turned around and said “F*ck it”. The waiter then proceeded to roll his eyes anytime we tried to order. Made us not want to order anything or stay and chat because we didn’t want to interact with him.
We had dinner here before a show at the Beacon and it was just perfect. Casual, great service and great food. Will definitely be back!
The food is unflavored and the music is horrible!!
Did not give us the seat as requested in reservation earlier that morning. Rude and inexperienced hostess.
Very nice time. Service was excellent. Tacos were quite tasty. A bit too noisy to hear conversation easily.
Very crowded but good place to go for Mexican in the city!
Staff was very friendly, and had our table ready early. Great food and drinks.
Bit disappointing for a boozy brunch. Waitress was awesome about getting refills in the beginning towards the end the restaurant got busy and we only ended up having about 4 glasses each - which isn't as boozy as it should have been!
I had been here once before for dinner. I really like the atmosphere and aesthetic of the restaurant. Unfortunately, I haven’t loved the food either time I’ve come. Maybe I’m just not ordering the right things? I would be willing to try it again.
Terrible atmosphere, extremely loud bad music and groups of drunk people screaming at 8pm in the evening. Food was mediocre, but good prices. Not recommended unless you’re going there to get drunk.
It was great!
So loud, but very good food. Our waitress was also top notch!
Great Tex-Mex menu. Many varieties of tacos, bowls, entree. Happy Hour deals as well. Loved the fish & shrimp tacos.
Place is fun and loud great pre beacon event. Drinks are small but strong. Food was just ok. Waiter was great.
We were surprised at the quality of the food. It was excellent! The location was great - we were attending a show at the Beacon theater and it was very close. The only downside was that the nosie level was pretty high. It was definitely energetic! We would recommend.
I love Playa Betty! Food is always excellent and service is quick.
A low key casual friendly place
Great deal of $3 tacos with house cocktail! Service was friendly & fast. Tacos were filled with a variety of skirts steak, chicken, or fish. All delicious! We were very happy with our visit to Playa Betty & planning to return soon.
It was fine for a casual bite in the neighborhood. But very noisy particularly coming from the bar.
Fun spot, celebrated New Years!
Food and service were spectacular.
