I love the food. Are you kidding? Gig balsamic reduction with stuffed mushrooms. All the small plates out of this world. And the waiter dude was on point.
Bummer the place is an acoustic nightmare unaided by the over the top (volume) monologuesby the waitress. Love the food though
Excellent food at a good price. Professional lovely staff. Give it a chance you will love it!
Aromas were great but the food was bland and slightly greasy. The chickpea batter on the calamari did not adhere well. The lamb sliders were slightly overcooked and the bun too sweet.
I did not think ketchup was the appropriate condiment for the flavors. I cannot recall the name of the platter of fried onions, fish and cheese but it was heavy and bland. Wait staff tended to be a little too intensely enthusiastic. I wish I could give it a better review. Maybe I didn't order the right foods.
Food was incredible and the pricing was great. Especially for Huntington. However the service was awful. It was still worth going to because of the great flavors. Hopefully the servers become better trained and more attentive.
Our waiter took very good care of us! We told her that we want to try the menu favorites and she brought out the Guac, Calamari, the Fritter Platter and the Lamb Sliders. All of which were divine in every which way! My boyfriend and I were so full and delighted from the experience. Many leftover to take home! Highly recommend it to those who love flavorful tapas.
Hint** They have half off Mondays and Tuesdays as well as an open bar option for parties
Great place. Very quick service.
food was very good and the service was great. They only issue is that they bring each tapas out fairly quickly. Often my wife and I did not finish one plate before the next plate was there. It would have been better if the timing of the dishes was spaced out more
The staff was spectacular, suggesting items off the menu, offering suggestions and giving descriptions. Some of the best service I've ever had. The atmosphere is mediocre, nothing stands out in the way of the decor. The food was nothing special but the rice pudding was the best I ever had and I'd return for that alone. The drink menu is creative and fun. I'd definitely return for a seat at the bar next time and order dessert. Overall it was a good experience.
Need rugs or some kind of noise cancelling
Looked for a place to have a nice dinner with my boyfriend. He and I are both college students at different universities about 3 hours apart, so we try to go big when we go on a date. We found Plates thanks to groupon, but were not able to apply the coupon because it's only good Sun-Thurs and we went on Saturday night. Made reservations but honestly didn't need to since there were several tables available when we showed up. The hostess (Jenny?) was SUPER friendly, kinda quirky but very fun, knowledgable about the restaurant and menu, and very attentive to our needs. Made the experience that much more memorable, took very good care of us.
Menu changes every season to bring in new flavors. Very appealing to us because we're foodies and love eating new things.
BF and I each had different cocktails (first frost and smoked pineapple) and split five small plates (tokri chaat, naanini, calamari, lamb sliders, and stuffed mushrooms) Portions were surprisingly satisfying and incredibly delicious. Perfect for two people to split. We savored each bite. Meal was paced well in terms of when plates were brought out. Also got dessert, three different ice cream flavors. Easily around $100 for the meal but VERY worth the money.
10/10 highly recommend, will be returning
Great food and great service!! Very flavorful dinner
This is a celiac's dream. My husband and I attended on a Sunday evening and we were the only folks in the restaurant. The bartender, Brint, said we could sit wherever we wanted. He then gave us the drink menu and was very accommodating in making my drink not overly sweet. Having celiac and a dairy allergy, I asked about the menu and Jennifer quickly came over and enthusiastically, described the menu, how they prepare the food and what changes can be easily made. I was happy that I could pick from the majority of the menu (which doesn't usually happen). My husband thought this attentive service was b/c no one else was there but as other diners arrived the same enthusiasm was evident. The food was amazing! The calamari was a MUST! Everything was freshly prepared and brought out hot with the explanation of how it was prepared. I can't wait to go back!
We ordered a bunch of Small plates. Very different from what I've eaten before and delicious. Unexpected flavors like a tamarind and guacamole dish.
Our server was amazing !
NOTHING BAD TO SAY,JUST NOT MY KIND OF PLACE, WON'T GO BACK.
The calamari is delicious-we ordered 2 servings after we devoured the first order. We ordered several items from the menu and it was a great take on traditional South Asian food. The food was delicious and the service was great. Very friendly and accomdating staff. We definitely will be going back very soon. Wish I knew about this place sooner!
Same owners as Spice Village Grill next door, but way more creative. All the flavors you love in Indian food with fun twists. Mango salad with a tamarind dusting, a not-your-father's satay, and the somosa-like packets of phyllo goodness were all seasoned perfectly and came out rocket hot. The only miss was the lamb sliders. They weren't bad at all, just a let down after all those other great flavors. Space is a little tightly packed for my taste. Server was friendly, efficient, and helpful - there when we needed her and not when we didn't. Will be back when we're up Island
Over all it was ok. Nothing to wright hone to about 14$ for a small basket of calamari a bit pricey and had a hit of flavor to give and example
Cranberry almond salad - ours was warm - room temp. We prefer cold salad. Contained 3 ingredients- salad greens, sliced almonds, dried cranberries for $14. Dressing was bland.
Chicken skewers - okay, melted American a little awkward for that dish
Lamb sliders - dry and over cooked
Wings - delish!
Loud - large echo that bounces off ceiling, floor and walls. Not good for intimate conversation.
Generally seemed disorganized
Seemed pretty quiet for a Sat night.
Food was great. Serving sizes and price seemed all over the place. I recommend sticking with all "small plates". For the additional 10 or so dollars, the " large plates" don't amount to much more.
The dessert was fantastic. Don't recall the name but it was naan with carmelized honey on top.
Sangria was just ok.
New to the neighborhood and came in on a saturday night. Southeast asian fare is our favorite and we were pleasantly surprised with the bright flavors of most everything we ordered. Our order: kow suey soup (delicious), canapés (bright, light, tasty) bombay fritters (chose fish)--also surprisingly flavorful and made of actual fish our toddler LOVED them, guacamole (good), and finally, the stromboli, which was highly recommended by our server. I have to say the dining room was a bit empty for a saturday night, and I can't help but think if the stromboli is what is highly recommended to diners, this is probably why. The dish was more fit for a greasy take out italian joint then a place that otherwise had such wonderful bright flavors in all the other dishes. The staff was welcoming and lovely, and dishes were timed well, and we will definitely return. Just don't order that dish.
Amazing service - very accommodating and intuitive. Dishes were all inventive and delicious.
FOOD WAS EXCELLENT!!!! NOISE LEVEL WITHOUT IT EVEN BEING FULL WAS LOUD!
THEY NEED TO PAD WALLS, CEILING OR FLOOR TO ABSORB SOME OF THE NOISE.
The waitress was extremely helpful in helping us make the perfect decisions about what to order. The food was excellent.
My husband and I ate here on a Thursday night. We sampled several exotic cocktails from the bar menu and enjoyed many sumptuous bites, including the Chicken curry and chick pea canapé.
The food has a unique combination of flavors, inspired from South Asian cuisine. 2 of my favorite dishes are their tamarind guacamole and the little burger sliders. The service has been great every time we've been there, and even when it's busy it never seems to get loud. The prices are very reasonable too.
The food was great and service was attentive. I would definitely go back.
We decided to try this restaurant before going to a concert at the Paramont. We chose it because we've very rarely go outside our comfort zone for food. I had a coconut shrimp dish that was phenomenal. My husband has a lamb and beef dish which we loved. Tho only downside was there was only one waitress and while she awesome and friendly !!! She was the only one. Loved the food
This was our second time here, and we decided to follow recommendations from our server. Her 3 recommendations were excellent! We definitely will be back!
Feel terrible writing this review, but it can't go unsaid.
Firstly the food is innovating and delicious. 5 stars for food. The ambience is generally pretty cool, unfortunately where we sat there was splattered food on the white painted beadboard behind us, it was really gross and unappetizing. They also brought out a broom and were sweeping during our meal - always a restaurant fail.
The worst by far, and why we won't return anytime soon was the the waitress, who was the only one working and apparently their main, waitress was so loud. Her voice was so obnoxiously loud, we could not carry on a conversation while she was talking to the table next to us, or 2 tables over from us. She's also a talker, so she went on and on and on with everyone, at this very loud voice. I think she wanted everyone at all the tables to hear and join in on her conversation, it was like she was talking to the restaurant, not just the table she was at. The place is generally echo-y, so her voice carried and bounced off every surface.
We walked out with a headache. So so so unfortunate for such a really great place. Someone needs to have a chat with her.
We are frequent diners at the sister restaurant to Plates, Spice Village, with the 2 restaurants sharing a kitchen the service was a little chaotic , it took a long time to get our drinks and Tapas.
If they could work out the issues with sharing resources this would become a staple on our dining calendar!
Wonderful place. He menu is tapas with Indian and Pakistani flavor. Small plates are not too small and very tasty. Try the sambusas! Great service, friendly and nice people. Definitely will return!
We'd been meaning to try this new place for a while and finally went in last week. We were just hoping for something tasty but it was fabulous! Great Indian tapas style foods. Everything we had was wonderful and the drinks were strong too! Highly recommend if you want to try something a little different from the standard Huntington fare (e.g., new American, Asian fusion etc).
Great food and good music being played
Service was outstanding
My friend took me here to celebrate my birthday and we had a great experience! The food was excellent, the service was great and we loved the ambiance!
The food and cocktails were outstanding and the staff really tried their best to make it a nice night out, but they could not quite succeed. The tables near the front are vibrating from every step the staff takes running (sometimes jumping down the stairs) out of the kitchen and that kind of spoilt our evening. They really tried to make up for it. So give it a chance - Go there at less hectic times, maybe for lunch and make sure you sit near the back wall and you might have a better time. Our romantic night out could have been better - but then it's what you make of it.
At first we were skeptical because the place was empty but when we tasted our food food we immediately changed our minds. The food was very authentic and definitely one of my top 3 places to eat. I like that you have a choice of small or large plate. Since I like to eat less than my husband, this worked out great. The service was very good too.
I will most certainly be going back soon.
I have been here a few times and it has been a great experience every single time. The food is delicious and well seasoned and the ambiance is perfect. It's not overdone but it's not underdone. If you are looking to expand your palette I definitely recommend trying this place out. You won't be disappointed!
I'm vegan and the staff and owner were so accommodating. The food was delicious and we couldn't have been happier.
First time here- don't think we'll be back. The menu is unusual and not for those who are not adventurous. On the waiter's recommendation we ordered the guacamole. The avocados were chunked and not mashed. It was served with Paladins which were too thin and fragile to scoop the guacamole. We then had the coconut soup which was ok but very different from the the Thai versions we are used to. Lastly we had the meatball with Ed's. It was a large mound of chopped meat with a hardboiled egg in the middle. It seemed more like a spiced meatloaf and although it was flavorful it was not something I would want to have again. We wanted to love this restaurant but sadly did not.
