Plantation Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Dinner was average at best. Food was not hot and although in the off season wait staff left us feeling rushed. Needed to deflect their “will there be anything else” line several times. On a positive had been there for apps and drinks before and it was good. For the price, this place should know better
Had dinner last Sat night 6:30 reservation and had a very enjoyable time. The table I requested was ready for my arrival. Service was very professional and pleasant at all times. The food was excellent and fairly priced. This and the Black Whale are my favorite restaurants and I am a local. Will go back in the very near future.
Went with my daughter Saturday. Everything was excellent, waiter was very professional and courteous. We both had the beef cooked to perfection and the sweet potato soup was incredible. One of the best places on the island. I am a local, not a tourist. Give it a try, you will not be dissapointed. Bob
Started with an amazing Martini with blue cheese and bacon stuffed olives.
We were there for an early lunch on a Saturday and ordered "light."
The Caesar salad with scallops was very fresh and filling. My bacon wrapped scallops and short rib wontons combined for a delightful lunch choice. We will definitely be returning when ww are hungrier!!
My husband and I had yet another amazing meal at The Plantation while on our "minimoon" after our recent wedding this past week, which is not surprising as The Plantation and Chef Jeff's dishes have yet to disappoint our palates! We tried an assortment of Apps (Tuna nachos, short rib wontons, scallops & a pork belly slider that were ALL out of this world). Our main entrees (scallops over a bacon and pea risotto for myself and medium rare ribeye steak for my husband) were cooked to perfection and the flavors amazing. We managed to find some room to share the pecan bread pudding with homemade bourbon icecream for dessert and it was Oh so worth it! Phenomenal job all, service and food were perfect and we were raving about everything!
Some of the dishes we ordered were great; others were not. One diner found the chicken quesadilla to be inedible because the barely-any-chicken was ground up into tiny pieces. Our biggest complaint was that it was so noisy we could barely have conversation at out table for four at 6:30 p.m.
Always a great time at the "PLANT"!!!
Chelsea greets us at the door with a warm smile. She's the BEST!!!!
Waiter Scott & waitress Lacy are our favorites!!! Friendly, courteous & attentive people!!! Food is awesome as are the cocktails. We come here EVERY week!!!
LOVE THIS PLACE ❤️❤️❤️❤️
First time here. Service was good but food was mediocre at best. I had chicken w/bbq sauce, collards, cornbread and I ordered a side of whipped potatoes. The chicken was moist but I took the fatty skin off and there wasn't much bbq flavor. The collards were so tough they were impossible to eat. They had bacon stirred into them but they had not been cooked with the bacon the way they should be. There was nothing "whipped" about the potatoes. They were lumpy as could be. At best I might call them smashed but even at that the lumpy bits were too undercooked to eat. Cornbread was sweet. Nothing special, especially since there was nothing really to eat it with. Waitress brought me another side (grilled asparagus) but it was just as bad or worse than the collards - tough and woody - very undercooked. Horrible.
The fried calamari appetizer was okay but the cocktail sauce was not good. Husband had clam chowder and he said it was terrible. He didn't say anything at the table but when we left he said his salmon entree was overcooked. He said the only good thing about his meal was the 2 or 3 raviolis underneath the salmon.
Funny thing is that they are a sister restaurant to Tucker's Tavern and Tucker's is hands down the better restaurant.
At Plantation - $100 including tip and no drinks, after I asked them to remove the extra side dish which was $7, for very mediocre food - I don't think so. We won't be back.
Our dinner was not only yummy but delightful! Upon arriving for our reservation we were unhappy with the seating, but the manager that evening, Chelsea, was fabulous. She was quick to fix the problem and made sure our time there was beyond pleasant. I can't say enough good things about her, her service, her attitude, her passion for the job.
Our waitress Kimberly was exceptional. She assisted with our choices and saw to it that our dining experience was superior. Her knowledge of the menu and contagious smile made the evening all the more enjoyable.
We had the scallop entree on the menu as well as the scallop special. DELICIOUS! The clam chowder was to die for as were the pork dumplings and calamari. For desert we had the bread pudding and the key lime pie which I would highly recommend both.
Bottom line, the meal was great, the location noisy but pleasant, I would reccomend going to anyone as it is well worth the trip!
Generally a good setting. On this ocassion the bar on the second floor was loaded with an over enthusiastic crowd. Since we were seated on the second floor it was an overwhelming noise level where we could not here one another. Management acknowledged the noise level but did nothing to alleviate the burden. After several lunch and dinner trips, I find this to be disappointing. On this night, Plantation was a Bar that was serving food.
From the moment you walk into Plantation, you feel transported to another world! The decor. lighting, and overall ambiance remind you literally of a home you might find in Savannah, Georgia. The PEI mussels were incredible, and highly recommended as an appetizer. I had the grilled salmon with kale ravioli, which was cooked perfectly and the perfect portion size. My partner had the diver scallops (locally caught - 6 of them included for the entree portion, this is also an appetizer choice). Following a low-carb diet, we requested that the risotto be replaced with collard greens and thick-cut bacon, and the restaurant graciously honored this request. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a romantic meal with high-quality food. I think this restaurant is more suited for adults than young children/families.
The restaurant was extremely loud (did not help to have people who were practically screaming at each other in normal conversation) the ambiance was cold. The waitress appeared distracted when explaining the evening menu and when she returned to get our food order again she was looking all over the restaurant (figured she was a seasoned waitress and she could multi task...eh NOT) we had ordered appetizers with our meal and next thing we knew our main course was brought to the table, when we explained to the runner that we still had not received our appetizers the waitress appeared and told us she had not written it down..I will give credit to the floor manager who quickly appeared and extended her apologies with a complimentary dessert, I would definitely not go back for the simple reason that I was not wowed on the contrary I was extremely disappointed with the entire restaurant,
It was quiet there for a Saturday lunch and just 2 or 3 tables filled. Our server forgot some requests and had to come back a few times and verify our order. One of the four us ordered a sandwich after their soup and it took almost 20 minutes and we were the only ones there.
Despite having a reservation, we needed to wait for out table and we were seated at a table for 2 in the bar area. It was extremely noisy and cramped tight quarters. It would have been fine if we were getting a casual meal. However, at the high prices that the Plantation charges, they should not seat people in the bar area. I could not hear my husband when he tried to talk. When my husbands meal came they had split his dinner into 2 portions. When we explained that we had not ordered his dinner to be split, the server told us we were wrong and that his paperwork said the entree was ordered as a split portion. Given that the table was tiny it was especially annoying because there was no room for a third dinner plate on a tiny table for 2. Two additional people came by to comment on the number of plates but none of the people actually offered to fix the situation and we ended up having the same annoying conversation 3 times without any action being taken by anyone so it just disrupted our dinner further. Someone came by and asked how our dinner was. My response was "meh". The person said, "that's awesome" and walked away. Honestly, if they are not going to actually listen to the response, why ask the question? Or, maybe they could not hear over the deafening noise. We could not get out of there fast enough and skipped dessert. So much for a special dinner on the island.
The restaurant is great, parking difficult---its beautiful inside and quality of the food was excellent. The restaurant noise was high. Difficult to have good dinner conversation. Service was fast--felt like we were rushed. Definitely going back---a great meal!
We've been to the Plantation at least 6 times this summer and have enjoyed it every time. The bar is lively and the bar tenders are fantastic. The wait staff is excellent especially Brianna, who is exceptional. The hostess is amazing and has the whole restaurant running smoothly. As for the food, there are several interesting choices and we've always been pleased with our selections. Definitely try the scallops, the house speciality.
