We enjoyed the view of the gardens from our balcony side table. Our server, Danielle, was friendly as well as helpful with gluten and dairy free menu options. The steamed seafood entree was well-presented but rather flavorless. We found the restaurant and bar area to look tired and out-dated. The host stand area was particularly plain and made for an underwhelming entrance. Our dining experiences at Keoki’s Paradise and Beach House were far superior. Doubtful we will be back to Plantation Gardens.
We love this place and are always impressed with the food and staff. We had our reception here last year and came back for our 1st anniversary dinner and it was incredible!! I had the pork chop, which is the best I’ve ever had! The pork wontons and coconut shrimp are a must to have! Don’t leave without having a cucumber mojito!!
The Staff was very nice, the food was ok but not the best we have had in Kauai. Would still recommend to friends.
Wonderful! Great fresh food. Great Garden views. No complaints.
The creme brûlée is the best. Also the kale Caesar salad.
Best mai tai on the island!! Great food and service. Loved the veranda for dinner seating. We went for happy hour and appetizers also and had a fun time! Highly recommend!
We've eaten here several times before - this time was disappointing. Our server never checked on us after our food was delivered and eaten, we were there to celebrate a birthday that wasn't acknowledged, and the food was just ok. Of the 4+ times we have eaten at the Plantation Gardens - this was our only negative experience. We may give it one more try.
Overall, it was a nice place to go, but the atmosphere was very low-key. I would argue that it was one of the best meals, in one of the least impressive venues. So, compliments to the chef and please work harder to build up a nicer and more interesting atmosphere. It felt too much like Florida Keys and not Hawaii.
Enjoyed a great dinner and service by Jay. Very kid friendly and fantastic food choices. Will add to our favorites, will tell all our friends here in Kalaheo
Always eat here when in Kauai. The LauLau is really delicious and we always share it. They split it for us so presentation is beautiful.
Salads are excellent and crab Rangoon appetizer was really good
Great outdoor setting! 3 orders of crusted Monchong and 1 pot roast. All dishes prepared deliciously.
This is a beautiful porch setting with lush and gorgeous gardens. The food was beautifully prepared and delicious! Service was slow at the bar but more efficient once seated. Glad we got past our frustration at the beginning of the evening It was worth the wait
Expensive food with no flavor . The service was great either. Will not go back
The menu here is pretty adventuresome, so anyone expecting an experience like Applebee's, TGI Friday or Darryl's will probably find themselves challenged. While many of the main course dishes have a foundation ingredient you will recognize (like steak, fish, etc.), often the garnishes and accompanying side dishes will be prepared with ingredients with which you may not be familiar, and asking for an explanation from your server may not make you any more confident that you know what you are getting. Indeed, you may order a dish, expecting it to be almost enough like what you routinely enjoy, only to find that it has an ingredient or taste you were not expecting that lowers your enjoyment of the meal. I ordered French onion soup (which was fine) and chicken wings (which were prepared with Chinese five-spice, among other things) which I was not expecting and didn't particularly enjoy. Accordingly, I left with mixed emotions. Our meal one night earlier had many of the same characteristics, but we ordered entirely different main courses.
The service was fine, the wine selection was okay, our desserts were good, and the outdoor porch seating area was spacious and not at all cramped.
One of our favorite places when we visit Kauai. We were not disappointed -- everything was delicious and service was excellent. We had seafood lau-lau, crusted mahi-mahi, and BBQ ribs. Our table on the porch was perfect for enjoying the evening breezes.
The food did not have much taste in any of our entrees. The onion rings at the bar were not good. The waitress seemed untrained. There are so many other better restaurants to go to in Poipu.
The food was excellent. The service was excellent and the waiter was very friendly. He was able to make special accommodations for my kids who are picky eaters. Very nice setting. Would definitely recommend.
We were staying at the Kiahuna Plantation and walked over for dinner. The restaurant is situated in the gardens of the plantation. It is very open and the scenery is phenomenal. From the moment we walked in we were warmly greeted and quickly seated. Everyone from the host, to the server, to the bus boy were friendly and very professional. I was given several gluten free options for the fresh fish of the day. It was all delicious. I highly recommend for anyone visiting this side of the island.
Every time we visit the island we make sure we have at least one meal here. It’s a bit pricey but well worth the money.
We loved the black pepper tofu, the fish, the cocktails. As anyone who has spent time in Hawaii knows, in tourist areas, the restaurant food is overpriced and not that good. Way expensive. But if you want to go someplace nice, this place is great. Lovely setting and garden, and the food is pretty good. The service was excellent. Not too noisy. We had a very nice time altogether, and spent more than 200 for 3 with 2 entrees and several starters.
Great time. Staff was great and helpful, especially Lane. Our waitress was very good and attentive. The food was excellent. We ordered the ribs, fish of the day and the stir fry. We shared the baked Hawaiian and the cheesecake. All of us were happy with our meals.
We all agreed it was the best dinner we had on Kauai. The three fish dishes we ordered we’re excellent and unique. The desserts were delicious and the coffee was wonderful. The service was great. We are telling all our friends who go to Kauai not to miss it
Great friendly and personalized service. Beautiful outdoor dining with view of garden and coi ponds. Very pleasant. Salads were great. I had lau lau...not so good. Still overall very enjoyable dining experience.
Our second visit to Kauai and first time to your restaurant. Amazing food, wine, and ambiance! Excellent service by our server Nelson. Thank you!
Abby [sp] was wonderful.
Plantation Gardens is a lovely setting! The beautiful veranda over -looking the garden is the best place to dine. The service and food were excellent.
This place was just around the area from our resort so it was easy to get to. We found it to be in a nice garden of tropical plants and flowers and we were seated on the back porch so it was really quaint. Menu was very varied and our choices were very good. Food was well prepared and very tasty. Our server was very pleasant and she attended to every question we asked her. I thought the place was very stylish and felt like a tropical plantation style house. I felt this place ranked No.3 on the places we ate the week we were on the Island.
Just a little over priced
Like everything in Hawaii, expensive. But the food was tasty, and the restaurant and grounds were lovely.
We visit here any time we are in Kauai. The place is fabulous and the bar area has been re-done with wonderful seating and views. This time we visited during a rainstorm and had Happy Hour in the bar, which was so yummy it turned into Happy Two Hours. The bartenders are always engaging and friendly, which makes hanging out really fun. We enjoyed it so much, we returned for dinner and sat outside, which was a real treat. It's so relaxed and enjoyable, with beautiful gardens for walking around. Saw many families with small kids who could go play on the lawn while waiting for their food. Something for everyone here. Jeff has done a wonderful job with this place and we continue to share this secret gem with all of our friends.
We had an early dinner at Plantation Gardens. Restaurant is surrounded by garden, very pleasant to sit and watch. Food was good, fresh fish, and service was excellent. Caesar salad is made with kale, personally I'll stick with romaine.
We had two couples visiting us and chose Plantation Gardens for our dinner together. I can always count on Plantations Gardens for excellent food, beautiful ambiance and great service. Our friends loved the place. This s one of our favorite places on Poipu.
Undoubtedly one of the finest restaurants on the island of Kauai. The cuisine is innovative and delicious.
Stumbled upo Plantation Garden while staying in the area. A real treat . Sorry we live so far away.
Beautiful setting. Service was prompt and friendly. Expensive but what we expected for a special birthday occasion.
The food is always excellent. The service is usually great. This time the server seemed untrained, albeit very friendly.
First of all, when I called to confirm my reservation over the phone the guy I spoke with had an attitude and told me he couldn’t find my Rez and that they were completely booked up for the night. So I said why do you have it as an option to book on your website? I booked it ahead of time for a REASON. Anywho, when I arrived I beleive it was the same guy because he gave me no problems when I mentioned my name and sat my boyfriend and I way in the back around a crowded area, but as the locals that we are we don’t complain about that kind of stuff. Our server was really sweet! The food wasn’t good at all, it had no flavor what so ever. My boyfriend got the Ribeye and I got
The special, crab stuffed monchong. While eating, it was very disturbing to see a WILD CAT running around back and forth around the restaurant & by our table (gross). We could’ve sworn that the employees seen it to and did nothing about it. They’re lucky that we weren’t tourist because we all know tourist love to complain. Luckily, we had a gift certificate so we didn’t have to pay for everything.
Went there for Valentine's Day. A very romantic location. Bar service was slow but had a terrific table with a beautiful view of the gardens and great table service. The food was fresh, local seafood and was delicious as was desert. Coming from Seattle, the coffee arrived in a french press and was perfect. If you are looking for a romantic evening, this is a great spot.
Our 10th visit and as usual it was great and the grounds as usual are imaculate.
We have dined here in past years and enjoyed it. But the redo and expansion of the bar area is excellent. Happy hour is very happy now! Great bartender, Brenden! Waitress, Tori, very good. Even the “water boy” was super attentive and fun. If you are new to Hawaii have the Lau Lau.
