Plantation Gardens Restaurant & Bar is located in a beautifully restored plantation manor on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai. Dating back to the 1930's, the estate once served as the plantation manager's home for Hawaii's first sugar plantation, the Koloa plantation. Later, the estate was acquired by the Moir Family who built the world famous gardens that surround the restaurant. Our menu reflects the heritage of old plantation Hawaii, which celebrates the abundance and beauty of the Hawaiian Islands. Our fresh fish is caught daily by local fishermen in waters off Kauai. We use organically grown vegetables and herbs picked fresh on nearby farms and from our own gardens. Guests may choose to dine on our lanai overlooking tranquil gardens, lily ponds and tropical foliage or in our exquisitely refurbished dining room which features gorgeous Brazilian cherry wood floors, woven bamboo tables and plantation ceiling fans.

Undoubtedly one of the finest restaurants on the island of Kauai. The cuisine is innovative and delicious.

The food is always excellent. The service is usually great. This time the server seemed untrained, albeit very friendly.

First of all, when I called to confirm my reservation over the phone the guy I spoke with had an attitude and told me he couldn’t find my Rez and that they were completely booked up for the night. So I said why do you have it as an option to book on your website? I booked it ahead of time for a REASON. Anywho, when I arrived I beleive it was the same guy because he gave me no problems when I mentioned my name and sat my boyfriend and I way in the back around a crowded area, but as the locals that we are we don’t complain about that kind of stuff. Our server was really sweet! The food wasn’t good at all, it had no flavor what so ever. My boyfriend got the Ribeye and I got
The special, crab stuffed monchong. While eating, it was very disturbing to see a WILD CAT running around back and forth around the restaurant & by our table (gross). We could’ve sworn that the employees seen it to and did nothing about it. They’re lucky that we weren’t tourist because we all know tourist love to complain. Luckily, we had a gift certificate so we didn’t have to pay for everything.

Went there for Valentine's Day. A very romantic location. Bar service was slow but had a terrific table with a beautiful view of the gardens and great table service. The food was fresh, local seafood and was delicious as was desert. Coming from Seattle, the coffee arrived in a french press and was perfect. If you are looking for a romantic evening, this is a great spot.

We have dined here in past years and enjoyed it. But the redo and expansion of the bar area is excellent. Happy hour is very happy now! Great bartender, Brenden! Waitress, Tori, very good. Even the “water boy” was super attentive and fun. If you are new to Hawaii have the Lau Lau.

Worst food in all of Hawaii. Gross bowl of bean sprouts that they call ‘Stir Fry with Shrimp and Fish’. Disgusting pork chop that was not grilled, more like steamed.
Waitress, M, did not care, very low caliber staff.

We went here many years ago; at the time, they were one of only a few choices in Kauai on open table. We recall a nice dinner in pleasant surroundings, so we thought it would be nice to go back. The surroundings are indeed still pleasant, but tonight the serene setting was marred by a very loud, boisterous table of six adjacent to us. More importantly, the food was awful. We ordered a traditional Hawaiian Lau Lau. When we opened the leaves, the fish was obviously undercooked, the shrimp was not fresh and the taste was sour. Neither my wife, nor I could eat it. Our waitress saw we weren’t eating our meal and while taking our plates away, saw the fish wasn’t done; she immediately apologized and then comp’d our meal. The experience was so disappointing that we might never go back.

I've always enjoyed dining at Plantation Gardens, but this visit was a major disappointment. Beginning with the lackluster service, followed by a mediocre cocktail, dry fish and even bad coffee. Not a good experience, especially for the price.

Very nice place. Good food. Good service. My only objection was the hostess. We made a 6:15 reservation and arrived 5 minutes early. Why they make you wait for 15 minutes to be seated is very annoying. Especially when there were ample empty tables when we were seated. My only thought is they want you to buy a drink at the bar. Not a good policy.

We were disappointed with the place. The service was good and the drinks were fine. Our dinners were just OK. My fish was cooked properly but served at a barely warm temperature. It is a pleasant enough dining room, but the meal was overpriced.

This lovely setting, n a botanical garden, contributes to my enjoyment of this restaurant. The food is excellent - there are always a couple of fish entrees that look great, and the salads are excellent. We always eat here several times during our stays in Kauai.

Typically a favorite. Fell short this visit. Fish overcooked to a dried out state. Flavors of dish were good overall however. Just not the best meal we've had here. Service was great as usual. We really like the update to the layout of the place.

Loved the ambiance and food. We where there to celebrate a special occasion, my mother in laws Birthday. There was no acknowledgement by anyone that we where there celebrating a special occasion. That I felt was very unfortunate.
The bartenders and server werent very personable at all either.
We are local guests, but when we have family in town from the Midwest we expect the family be treated with Aloha.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The chefs were willing to cook my fish "Chinese Style" even though that preparation was not on the menu and it was superb.
