We had a great 30th anniversary dinner here one night. We were staying next door at the Koa Kea and walked over to view the gardens one afternoon and saw there was a restaurant. Some guests at our hotel recommended it and we are glad we went. The atmosphere is beautiful. Old school plantation Hawaii. The food was delicious and portions were nice! We loved our server he was very helpful with drink and dinner recommendations and so nice! I like their drink menu and they had an expansive wine list. Make sure to arrive early to check out the gardens before dinner. I would definitely return again on another trip to Kauai.
Pot roast was great.. orchid and other plants all around. Great place
This was our first visit to The Plantation and it was a good experience for us. We ordered the summer rolls for appetizer, good - though the rice wrapper was a little dry and tough on the bottom - apparently prepared in advance and refrigerated. Our entree was a very nice preparation of tofu in a rich Asian sauce with brown rice and lots of fresh, crisp veggies. This dish alone is worth the experience. Our wait person was a pleasant young lady with a good knowledge of the menu. She was attentive without hovering. All-in-all, an experience worth repeating. On the way in, check out the impressively massive monkey pod tree spanning the driveway.
Meilleur repas mangé depuis longtemps. Mahi en croûte de quinoa était un délice !
Friendly and efficient service. Our waitress Alaina was excellent. Knowledgeable and helpful with food choices. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the island. I’m sure we will return.
A little uneven. The atmosphere is wonderful Old Hawaii, especially on the lanai. The menu is limited but full of creative options. The shrimp and fish stir fry I ordered was supposed to come on chow fun noodles. I was surprised to find it featured linguine and did not include any fish! My server made quick work of a solution and delivered grilled fish in moments. My friend had quinoa crusted Mahi and was very pleased. My husband had seafood lau lau and was a little disappointed by the lack of seasoning. Wine list was deep enough and well appointed. Lilikoi cheesecake needed more lilikoi but was delightfully airy.
Plantation Gardens is our choice for our "last night" dining. Has been for years. My husband always has Lau Lau and my choice this time was the rib eye. Excellent! The wait staff was wonderful. Take the time to ask about their lives. Have a conversation. I love Kauai
Service could have been a little faster. Fish was good but quinoa crust overpowered it. Would order it grilled next time. They could provide bread like the Beach House does. Sweet potato rolls aren’t worth $6.
Last year we loved this place - had dinner here twice during that vacation, and had been looking forward to going again. But it was awful, $200 and a huge disappointment - four of us and no one liked their food. What happened??? Such a shame.... and feral cats underfoot also not pleasant
Ordered ribs, inside was cold which PROVES that it was not freshly cooked, only re-heated.
Was our anniversary. TOO MANY BUGS. Waitress simply laughed it off.
Beautiful outdoor garden setting, delicious food and excellent service! My Mahi Mahi was excellent but my husband missed the traditional ti leaf wrapped fish. He felt the ti leaf wrapped shrimp, scallops and fish was not as good as he remembered from previous dining experiences at the Plantation Restaurant. Perhaps this was due to too many different kinds of seafood wrapped in the ti leaf...
Had the St Louis ribs and they were great. Compliments to the Chef.
The food was alright - the service was lacking - we ordered a glass of wine before dinner and didn’t get it till after our food was served. I’m not sure if the bar was short staffed or the wait staff was but other than that just kind of meh.
This was the second time on this trip that we dined here. We are staying on the Kiahuna Plantation which is where this restaurant is located and have dined here on many previous trips. The first visit was wonderful in every way. Not so this time. I ordered the fish of the day and it arrived dry, over cooked and difficult for me to eat. I had my husband check it and he agreed. So we decided to send it back. The manager, Tino, came to inquire why I sent it back and I explained why and asked him if he agreed. He was quick to respond that he did not agree and thought it was “done to perfection”. We felt what he said and how he said it was very insulting and certainly had a negative effect on our experience. Our waitress, Lucy, was a pleasure and we will ask for her again! We will return and be certain tho ask that our fish be prepared so that arrives moist.
Lovely atmosphere, quaintly tucked away back porch
Limited wine list
Food was just OK
Had one of our best dinners here. Four of us went to Plantation House and we ordered three different meals and all were great. Two had ribs, one pot roast and one pork chop. Unusual for us that no one wanted fish although that is also on the menu. Warning, the portions are large so we skipped both a starter and dessert. Our server Monica was fabulous and certainly made our dinner even more enjoyable and fun.
We vacation in Kauai at least every other year. We have always gone to Plantation Gardens for a special meal. We went in and had a couple of drinks at the bar.....great service (but we missed Brad, a great bartender....bless him). Went in to the dining room, looked over the menu and left. The meals were outrageously expensive. Can't afford to eat there any more. We found that all over the island. To pay $50 for a small filet, ($30-$50 for any entree), small veggie & small starch is ridiculous! We love Kauai, but guess it's time to find another paradise. We don't want to cook dinners or eat "fast food" when on a special getaway. Feels good to get this off our chests. Aloha, Kauai

The waitress was good. The busboy came by no fewer then 15 times asking if he could take plates we were clearly not finished with-this got to be very annoying.
Great Restaurant! We have been eating at the Plantation for almost 13 Years on twice a year visit to Kauai. Jeff, the manager is fantastic.
We love this place. Of all the upscale restaurants in the area this one has the most Aloha feeling to it. The bar renovation is wonderful.
We were vacationing from Texas and googled restaurants in the area. So glad we found it!
Beautiful grounds and gardens, wonderful food and service. We sat on the patio which was a great spot. Will definitely recommend and go again!
Great table, great service, but we were very disappointed by the menu and the lack of more traditional food items we had experienced in the past. We so looked forward to this dinner and were very disappointed.
We were there for dinner last night and thought it was nice. The food was good, all local ingredients, prepared nicely and a lovely presentation. Didn't like it that bread isn't included - really?! At these prices it should have been. Our waitress was less than stellar in several ways, but the rest of the staff was amazing - they were hustlers, efficient, thoughtful - from the sweet hostess to the terrific bussperson (a young Asain woman who was over-the-top)! The setting is lovely. We'll be back.
Good food, especially the Ahi Poke was yummie. Staff was a little unprofessional and seemed quite inexperienced/immature.
The food was delicious Abby our server was great with the adults and kids. Lots of choices and great setting
We came here for dinner & the food was amazingggg! I am a vegan so finding somewhere to dine can be tricky but they had so delish options at Plantation Gardens. The tofu was so tasty & my hubby loved his fish meal.
A beautiful location. Food was very good. A true garden feel.
We've eaten here every time we visit Kauai and it never disappoints. The fresh fish was wonderful and the delicious pot roast comes in a very generous portion. Their salad menu could offer more options, in my opinion.
We enjoyed the view of the gardens from our balcony side table. Our server, Danielle, was friendly as well as helpful with gluten and dairy free menu options. The steamed seafood entree was well-presented but rather flavorless. We found the restaurant and bar area to look tired and out-dated. The host stand area was particularly plain and made for an underwhelming entrance. Our dining experiences at Keoki’s Paradise and Beach House were far superior. Doubtful we will be back to Plantation Gardens.
We love this place and are always impressed with the food and staff. We had our reception here last year and came back for our 1st anniversary dinner and it was incredible!! I had the pork chop, which is the best I’ve ever had! The pork wontons and coconut shrimp are a must to have! Don’t leave without having a cucumber mojito!!
The Staff was very nice, the food was ok but not the best we have had in Kauai. Would still recommend to friends.
Wonderful! Great fresh food. Great Garden views. No complaints.
The creme brûlée is the best. Also the kale Caesar salad.
Best mai tai on the island!! Great food and service. Loved the veranda for dinner seating. We went for happy hour and appetizers also and had a fun time! Highly recommend!
We've eaten here several times before - this time was disappointing. Our server never checked on us after our food was delivered and eaten, we were there to celebrate a birthday that wasn't acknowledged, and the food was just ok. Of the 4+ times we have eaten at the Plantation Gardens - this was our only negative experience. We may give it one more try.
Overall, it was a nice place to go, but the atmosphere was very low-key. I would argue that it was one of the best meals, in one of the least impressive venues. So, compliments to the chef and please work harder to build up a nicer and more interesting atmosphere. It felt too much like Florida Keys and not Hawaii.
Enjoyed a great dinner and service by Jay. Very kid friendly and fantastic food choices. Will add to our favorites, will tell all our friends here in Kalaheo
