The food was appalling and pretty much thrown at us. My wife hates me complaining, so we paid and left.. A very very poor experience...
Ordered the special entrees this time, and the food was much, much better. Last year, I think we just had grilled fish of some kind that was very ordinary. However, the experience was very good this year, and we would recommend.
We started with delicious cocktails. Ordered the rolls but not impressed. We each had a different entree and all were satisfied, nice portion-size. Try the pot roast! The pork chop was yummy too, especially the butternut squash & Brussel sprouts side that came with it. We brought a bottle of wine with us - very reasonable corkage fee.
I was initially skeptical about trying this restaurant, preferring one with at least a 4-1/2 out of 5 rating. The rating, if based solely upon the food and preparation, could have been a 5. However, the service lowered it considerably. It was erratic and sometimes delayed. The bill was not divided, as requested, among the parties. Fortunately, it wasn't poor enough to ruin the evening. I hope that if I return to the island I can try it again with a different server. My guess is that he was stretched too thin with too many table.s
Great seafood. Waiter was a bit unusual and detracted from the visit.
Beautiful setting. Excellent food. Special occasions
Best fish dinner out of 5 nights..thanks to our server, Allen, giving us accurate description and suggestions. No ocean view but a lovely view from the Plantation porch. We have been before and will return again on our next visit.
Very limited menu and what was on the menu was a bit on the different side.
Consistently good food and drinks
Great quit atmosphere
The setting is so wonderfully old Kaua'i, with a surprise view to the ocean -- yet appropriate for a Poipu garden near the sea. And the dinner too, so ono!
A favorite restaurant for numerous years
Consistently good food, great drinks and deserts
Service is excellent
My sister and I vacationed in Kauai !
We had a lovely evening! The food was delicious and the service excellent. Out table was outside on the deck overlooking the plantation gardens and the tiki torches made the setting especially romantic. The hostess gave each lady an orchid when being seated. Nice touch.
The fish was overlooked. The rest of the food was very good. We have been there before and liked it very much. Very disappointing this time.
Amazing poke & fresh grilled mahi! Friendly bar staff who make killer cocktails!
Great experience! Tried the seafood lau lau and it was awesome! Outstanding service!
The waiter got our order wrong (& did the same at the next table.) Then brought out 3 of the 4 dishes & after they were eaten brought out the 4 th dish. Really. There was great apology but that was it. U got a tip but didn’t deserve it
Very poor service. Took a long time to get our drinks then longer to get our salads. Then the waiter told us he forgot to enter our entrees so we were going to get them after people who had come in and ordered after us. We finally received two entrees and the other two came 5 minutes later. The curry dishes were good but the quinoa crusted fish tasteless. Our reservation was for 6 pm we finally received our entrees at 7:15., about45 minutes after the salads. We felt ignored by the waiter. We’ve been here several times over the years and never had such poor service. It was our last night on the island so it was supposed to be a special night out. Don’t think we’ll ever return.
The support staff were good refilling water, serving and clearing plates. The hostess was friendly too. The manager was nowhere insight. We usually order dessert but we couldn’t wait to get out of there.
Best dinner on the island. Highly reccomend.
The waiter was very good the food was excellent and the drink was delicious.
Fantastic food and service. Tim was top-notch. I would gladly return here again.
Beautiful garden setting. We went to 6 restaurants for dinner in 6 nights and then returned here a second time on night 7 because it was so good. Although they do offer several fish dishes, fish is NOT the only thing on the menu (unlike many other restaurants in the area). The pot roast was amazing and a large portion. My husband had the seafood curry and although I am not a seafood lover, even I thought it was fabulous. It was also LESS expensive than the other restaurants we went to. Great food, lots of options, including non fish options, large portions, at a good price in a wonderful setting. By far the best place in the Poipu area. It is also an easy walk from the Sheraton (further to drive, but right there walking)
Beautiful grounds and location . Unfortunately our evening was spoiled by a couple bringing their crying baby and busy toddler ! Mum was busy on her phone ! I don’t mind kids at all but not in the evening at a place like this
Food was ok but nothing special
Excellent as always. I love it here highly recommend the pot roast, brilliant eveytine
Beautiful garden view. Walking distance to the Sheraton where we were staying. Enjoyed the chefs special, fresh catch of the day
What's not to like about a table on the veranda overlooking a koi pond. The food was good and the service was exceptional.
Great experience. Seated and never felt rushed. Food was great as always.
Great location but the service has really fallen and menu/food pales next to newer restaurants nearby.
The setting at Plantation Gardens is tranquil and surrounded by beautiful landscaping. You can see a hint of the ocean from the porch. The bartender executed delicious cocktails. The meal was tasty (we had the fish of the day , served with quinoa and veggies). What a memorable evening.
This place is so special for us. We were married in the nearby Mohr garden... which adjoins the restaurant. Service and food is great. We will return on our next Kauai visit.
Rewarding meals, wonderful atmosphere, spectacular garden surroundings with lily ponds and frogs, and our server Olena was special and attentive
Excellent food and service
Always great food and the setting is amazing overlooking the gardens. Micheal was an outstanding server. Always a favorite spot for dinner on Kauai.
Overall experience was good! Service could have been more professional and experienced. Fish not prepared as well as expected
Surrounded by beautiful gardens while sitting on a plantation-style porch, restaurant worth the trip. Creative cusine and drink. Service was a bit spotty but isn't a deal breaker.
The restaurant itself is lovely, but more than that it's set within beautiful gardens. Our waitress had a fun personality, and was helpful and efficient as well. Both the pot roast and ribeye dinners were delicious. We dine here whenever we're in the area.
I loved the Mahi Mahi and my partner had the Steak. Our server was Allen and he was very attentive.
He was courteous, asked if their was anything we needed yet giving us our time to relax and enjoy our meal.
Really wonderful. This is a beautiful setting on a lanai in a lush setting. The food was all fresh and tasty. We had a greens, glazed cashew and goat cheese ball salad; vegetable spring rolls; and sweet potato rolls for starters. Entrees were Lao Lao fish, grilled mon chong, and the fish special with a sweet potato mash and fruit salsa. Dessert was lilikoi cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake. Everything was fresh with top notch presentation.
Jak fruit sliders were a unique and delicious appetizer. The monchong over mashed Molokai sweet potatoes was a perfect combination. The fish was perfectly cooked. The open air setting surrounded by gardens allowed me to completely relax and enjoy the meal.
