Great dinner! Our waiter was wonderful, made the perfect suggestions. The chicken wing pupus should be a dinner item served with their fantastic fries. The Asian slaw is to die for. Will go back again.
We love to stop by Plantation Gardens every time we are in Kauai. They are better than ever!
It was no fault of the restaurant, but it was quite cool outside the night we ate there. It was breezy, damp and cool at our table, so it wasn't as nice an experience as I had hoped for. Overall our dinner was good, and I would come back again. Our food was very good, and the service was exceptional.
We've eaten at Plantation Gardens several times. This time the food wasn't quite as tasty; it was fairly flat and bland. The weather was terribly cold, and the blinds were drawn, but space heaters were needed.
We ate dinner here a few times during our visit. The first meal was delicious. My husband had the catch of the day and raved about it. I had the pot roast, which was served with a different mix of vegetables than I have normally had with it. It was very tasty but the serving was just too large for me and I had to leave a good portion of it that I just could not finish. For the next meal, my husband had the steak which he loved. I I had the Chicken Linguine and it was delicious, as well, although, again, too large of a serving for me. The ambience was absolutely relaxing and enjoyable. The garden setting is fabulous. Would definitely recommend eating here.
We had the same kind of fish several times in Hawaii and this time it tasted fishier and less moist.
The food and service was excellent. However the drinks were expensive. $5 for each glass of root beer was outrageous.
Beautiful setting - we sat on a deck overlooking some ponds and tropical plants. We had dessert and it was delicious - Baked Hawaiian (amazing) and passion fruit cheese cake (maybe a little too fruity - the whole thing tastes infused as opposed to just some fruity topping). The waiter was very friendly. Thanks for the lovely experience.
Really good food and service. The only challenge was that we needed gluten free options and they are not clearly shown on the menu. Our waiter was very helpful in making sure our meal choice was gluten free and the meal was delicious.
This is a favorite of ours. We dined with two other couples. one couple we'e dined with before here and they consider Plantation Gardens to be on of their favorite restaurants on Kauai. One of our guests, who had no eaten here previously commented that this was the best food he's ever had on Kauai. We love their f fresh fish and the wonderful, locally grown salads.
Beautiful view. Food was OK. Staff was very good.
Fantastic experience. Friendly and attentive staff. Beautiful setting. Delicious food. They made us feel special on our anniversary.
Love the season’s menu.
The seafood lau lau was fantastic. We were able to split at no extra charge. Our service was very personable and attentive. The grounds are gorgeous and full of orchids. We even had a bull frog making himself known in the nearby pond. This place reminds you that you are in Hawaii.
The restaurant has gone down since the last time we were there a few years ago. To begin with the menu was paper which was very used- dirty and crumpled.
Drinks were served right away but it took an incredible amount of time to get our order of edamame (which were very good).
Limited number of wines by the glass.
Food was just okay. The coconut stew was large in size, but too much liquid and potatoes than fish.
The service in general was very slow even though there were a number of empty tables.
An embarrassing nightmare. The "fresh fish" was obviously previously frozen. The drink menu was gross at best. The good thing is the service was so terrible we were never offered drink # 2. For the money they charge something that resembles food and service would be acceptable. A coney island in a small town would be a more comprehensive dining experience. A feral cat wandered the dining room and was apparently an acceptable addition to the ambiance. The best hope from this experience would be to reverse any remaining symptoms of the dramamine that was consumed yesterday.
We come to Kauai every year and always have dinner at Plantation Garden. The appetizer platter we had at the bar was fabulous. The dinner was mediocre. The food was not hot. We had fish and ribs. We do believe the remodeling of the bar/ restaurant is very nice. Not sure we will return next year
Very nice evening. But the coconut seafood stew was a bit too much coconut milk and very rich. Lau Lau much bettrr
We returned to Plantation Gardens after not dining there for several years. We were delighted that we were not disappointed. The food and service was good and we wont wait so long to return on our next trip.
Very good experience. Solid choice. Dishes included some surprising gems, like the pot roast.
Pleasant surroundings of their garden. Food was very good. Service was nice.
As always my family loves this place. Our go to place when we have a special occasion.
The best spot for my family 8 years running now. Jeff and the crew there always go apb I’ve and beyond our expectations for hospitality and finer dining. A true Kaua’i gem!
Great location, beautiful veranda sitting, good food and service and amazing desserts.
We were looking forward to going to this restaurant as we'd been there on our honeymoon years ago. It's probably the worst meal I've had in years. The fresh fish was so overcooked and so over seasoned it was not even palatable. When I mentioned it to the waitress she commented probably before even thinking, "Oh yes, he seems to do that a lot." The table across from us sent their fish entree back and when he was offered something different he said he no longer had an appetite it was that bad. They did comp my dinner but proceeded to charge us double for the side dishes that came with the entree. It was not even worth arguing about. Just so incredibly ridiculous! I will not ever return there.
Food was good with some "comfort" options. I've never said this in a review before, but the vegetables were superior, especially the unusual mix and their preparation. We love the restful garden setting. The service was top flight: attentive and friendly.
We loved everything about it!!
Great view, great food and drinks
We already have another reservation 😊🍹
Hoping they just had an off night. Waiter forgot bread service, erred on the drink order, and ribeyes were over done. Not enough to send back but enough to change the flavor. Not overly busy so no real excuses. Last year at this time we visited and it was a five star.
My husband ordered a fresh fish dinner with a variety of ingredients but he still thought is wasn't wonderful. I ordered a chicken pasta dinner which I thought was just "okay".
I took awhile for our waitress to "unthaw"...it isn't usually like to however.
We have been to this restaurant many times when we visit Kauai because of the ambience and beautiful gardens.
Service was good. Server was engaging and informative unfortunately food was of poor quality. Seafood curry was a bland paste with little “sea food”. Lua lua was bland, over cooked mahi mahi
Dessert was average
Beautiful grounds with serene atmosphere. Service was good. Food was average. We had the Crusted Fish of the Day and the Curray Stew. Although the flavors were good some of the stew was over cooked and some portions undercook. The bread accompanying the stew was stale.
Recommend them for atmosphere, not necessarily the food. Appetizer, 2 entrees and dessert $90.
We really appreciated the special service we got …...It was my husband's birthday and we received a complimentary pupu and dessert.....which were both delicious. The service crew was very gracious: great team of Monica, manager and server.
We celebrated our 50th anniversary there every one we came in contact with offered congratulations . The food was great, the service was excellent. They brought us out a great desert with happy anniversary written in chocolate on the plate.
If you’re looking for a serene and elegant venue with outstanding food that is also kid-friendly, look no further. Genuinely helpful and knowledgeable staff, a spacious lanai overlooking a historic garden perfect for wandering with restless tykes between courses plus an intriguing menu and wine list, all will bring us back. The seafood lau lau is the best ever. There was even a visit from a tiny and polite cat named Sushi. A memorable evening.
I had the coated fish which was monchong. The fish was cooked well but I was disappointed because I could not find any asparagus in the dish. As a result the dish was bland and dull. One companion had the grilled fish and it was burnt and dried out. The 3rd person in the group enjoyed the wedge salad and pot roast.
Nice server named Abby
Unfortunately we are unable to review this restaurant, due to the fact that they cancelled our reservation several hours prior to our appointed time. They said they had a power outage and were unable to serve dinner. They did not offer to reschedule our reservation. We were very disappointed as we had a party of 8 and over the holidays it was impossible for us to get another reservation with such short notice.
Great setting, excellent service and tremendous food!
New Year’s Eve
Setting is lovely. Food is very low quality and overpriced.
