The food and service were good. The ambiance, in the front room by the entrance, was not. We had
left a voice message and note on our reservation we were there for a celebration. When we requested a table on the patio, instead of by the door, we were told not for 4. After dinner, we walked through the room adjacent to ours, which was much nicer and then to the patio, which is lovely and they can definitely accommodate parties of 4. We did complain and a very nice manager gave us a generous credit to eat there again.
We will, but I'm not looking as forward to it as I was before I ate there.
Honestly nothing special. Especially for the price
Food was fabulous, interesting and well spiced. Tastiest was a special sunchoke soup. Also excellent was the spicy udon and fennel sausage. The coconut cream pie for dessert was yummy. Service was friendly but a touch too slow. The patio is lovely. Unfortunately, there was no room for us there, and the inside rooms are all hard surfaces, making it a loud room.
It’s always a great surprise and experience what the chefs create! Amazing Plant Based Meal.
great as usual!
I was expecting expensive and small portions as vegan restaurants typically are, but when the bread we ordered for $10 was set down on the table and it was ONE small slice of bread cut into 3 bite sized pieces, I had to stop my husband’s brain from exploding out of his head and causing a scene. I think the servers knew it was insane because the girl who put down the bread kept her head down and then the guy who cleared the plate did not make eye contact either. To add, we were a group of 3...What would they have done if we were a typical group of 4? Cut the one slice into 4 tiny pieces?????
Other than this, the food was delicious. We just are still laughing at this bread situation.
The patio was amazing, staff super friendly, location good, but the food could be better
Food is good here, some dishes are filling and some leave you hungry so ask the waiter for recommendations. Outdoor patio ambiance is great. Lovely for an afternoon brunch or lunch. The waiters are very nice but the kitchen is slow slow slow. Once it got crowded it took a half hour for our dessert to come out. do not come here if you are on a schedule.
Yes the amotsphere was so amazing and I love that everything was vegan.
Checking in was no issue despite arriving 15 minutes early. Food was great, from presentation to taste. Service was just okay, took 10 minutes to be approached by anyone. Waitress kept forgetting things. I attribute it to it maybe being a long night for her, I’ve been a waiter before so I know everyone can have a bad night.
Wonderful place. Very accommodating
The food, drinks, spot are excellent, but we missed out 7pm movie around the corner from the restaurant, although we sat down at 5pm. We ordered promptly, didn’t eat slowly, or send anything back. Our waitress disappeared into the back for a big party and didn’t come back by for over 30 minutes. I assume she forgot to expedite our entrees (a soup and raw, uncooked lasagna to share) after our cheese plate that sat empty before us for that whole 30+ minutes. I would have loved another cocktail, and my wife definitely wanted a second drink. She never even asked. Again, such an amazing meal marred by a completely absent server.
The food was AMAZING, if a bit expensive.
Our favorite plant based restaurant in the country! My husband and I are plant based food manufacturers and come here every time we’re in LA!
If you have a chance to eat don’t miss the opportunity!
Mathew Kenney is the most creative plant based chef we have come across.
I wouldn’t run back! I had to send food back because it was SO bad and a rip off
Our waiter, Sean, was incredible & the food was amazing as always.
Best Plant Based food ever! A must for any vegan eaters.
Fantastic food, great for evangelizing vegan cuisine. Would be nice if the AF/GF/NF/SF had a legend somewhere explaining what they all stand for. Also not actually explained anywhere on the menu or website (far as I could see) that all the dishes are vegan.
The space was pretty loud, very hard to hear in. We were in this little recessed booth type thing in the hallway very much in the middle of the foot traffic.
I would recommend for the summer months in order to sit on the patio which is lovely, however not inside which is TOO cramped and TOO loud. I would also let them know that the food is good, but very overpriced for the potions.
Food was amazing, as I expected
There were rats outside
Loved this spot! The avocado toast was everything!
Lovely place and great food but so over-priced. $27 for a plant bowl!?
The food was great but the service was poor. It took awhile to get our appetizer and entrees. This would have been okay -- we were there to enjoy ourselves. However, we ordered some bread (after receiving our entrees). It never came -- finally after about 20 minutes the waiter came to ask about it. We let him know it did not come. It still took quite awhile to come -- it must have been at least 30 minutes from ordering it to receiving it. There was no apology. Though the food was very good, we won't be back.
Best vegan restaurant I’ve ever dined at and I’m vegan! I took two meat eating colleagues who had never dined at a vegan restaurant and they were blown away. They both thought it was awesome. We all tried 5 apps, several sides, the entrees and dessert and every plate was cleaned. Wonderful ambiance, fabulous friendly and quick service, and the food exceptional.
The food is incredible and you have to try the coconut cream cheesecake. Best dessert I have ever had!!!
If you're into plant based foods and great wine cocktails, this is the place for you. I had the Cashew Raclette, the Avocado Tikka, and the Spicy Udon. Every dish was amazing. Definitely coming back soon.
I love the plant based creations here - superb! We come here every time we are in Venice, CA.
We went for Valentine’s Day. It was wonderful! It’s so great to have an elevated cuisine option as a vegan. It’s special but not stuffy. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and look forward to going again soon! PS. The black truffle aggnoloti was delicious!
Phenomenal food and service as usual. The absolute perfect night. Thank you for always providing an amazing experience!!!!
Really wish they notified reservations when there are preset menus, was looking forward to other items on the menu. Amount of food for the price was not worth it when their normal menu is so much better!
Always a delight with unique presentation and unbelievable flavors. Probably our favorite restaurant to enjoy a plant based meal. Love to eat there more often.
The food was the star, everything we had exceeded our expectations. Thank you for a wonderful meal! So much more on the menu we wanted to try, we will be back for a return visit soon.
The cocktails and dishes were sublime and new to my friends. The service is always detailed and wonderfully attentive. Sparks of magic seem to linger there...
Amazing selection of vegan food and flavors 🙌🏽
Amazing back patio with ample heaters for a cold night, every menu item I ate was phenomenal. If you’re thinking of giving this place a try, DO IT.
We were shown to a nice patio table. We had reservations. It was quite cold, and breezy. I do wish that they had had more heaters available. We did ask. I'm not sure why we were not offered a table inside in the warmth.
While I found some of the flavors to be outstanding, the presentation of the menu left much to be desired, especially for a member of my dining party, who is allergic to cashews. The menu clearly states "AF, SF, NF, and GF" (allium, soy, nut, and gluten free, respectively). However, it does not elucidate what type of nuts, or what soy product, for example. As it turned out, my friend had only a choice of a couple of entrees, and only one dessert. If this had been made clear on the menu, and therefore on the website, I would have chosen a different location for our dinner.
That said, the appetizers were the highlight of the meal. We had the Lodge Bread, The Hummous, and two of the three of us had the Cashew Raclette. The bread was outstanding, and we could easily have made a meal of a loaf or two of that alone. The hummous was right up there in the top 5 I've ever had. The Cashew raclette was odd in both texture and lack of taste. It was an expensive experiment.
Soy and smoked seemed to dominate the mains, so I had the fennel "sausage," with gigante beans. The texture of said sausage was much like the beans themselves, which were the better of the two items on the plate. The overall ragu was flavorful and enjoyable, but the sausage was disappointing.
Our third guest had the hay-smoked gnocchi, which the waiter had assured us was quite smoky indeed (hence why I did not order it). It was not. It had a strangely clean and slightly-hay flavor. I do not know if it would have worn well for an entire portion, but I was intrigued by the one gnocchi I tasted.
We did not have dessert, as the only one available to my cashew-allergic friend would have been the carrot cake, which did not interest him. We adjourned to another local haunt for pie.
Wonderful time. Food was amazing!!!
Incredible Gastronomic Experience
