Plank House Restaurant - The Mill Casino
Reservations recommended for dinner, not necessary for breakfast or lunch.
Plank House will be open on New Year's Eve 4pm-9pm
We eat here often as we enjoy the view as well as the food. Knowing Sunday mornings are busy I made a reservation with Open Table. Upon arrival I told them we had a reservation and was informed it would be a 25 minute wait at which time I reiterated we had a reservation. She checked with a couple “someones ” and was able to get us seated. There were several parties waiting for tables but there were a LOT of empty tables and booths. I can only assume there was not enough staff to service the restaurant. The service was good and we didn’t have to wait an long. Our breakfasts were fine but three of the five in our party becomes ill later in the day.....not suggesting anything, just a statement. Like I said we usually enjoy our Sunday brunches at the Plank House....
Ridiculously small portions. My entire$25 meal was hidden under 12 dime sized scallops. There was sand in the clam chowder, scallops and the smoked oysters. I don't think I will be going back. Oh and we waited just over an hour after we ordered. Jeez I used to like this place. Sucks to get a tiny plate that is half empty..
The special was prime rib. Very fatty and grizzle throughout. Just an inexpensive cut of meet. Otherwise everything else was wonderful.
Christmas Eve dinner. It was good! Not too busy & good food.
We chose Plank House to celebrate a friend’s birthday and had a wonderful meal. We each ordered something different and it all was delicious, the staff was excellent and the ambiance in the restaurant was very nice. The view of the bay is beautiful and we even got to see a large ship come in and get turned around by tug boats. All in all a very enjoyable experience and we will definitely go again.
We had a great Thanksgiving evening. Beginning at White Caps.
The food and service were excellent.
I was so impressed with the attention paid to our reservation. I received a text and phone confirmation. Was given a choice of seating, too. Impressive on a holiday.
Food and service is always very good. Nice table overlooking the water. Good value.
We enjoy eating here. The holiday meal was really good.
Can't wait to book our next reservation. The food , service, ambience, everything was just wonderful. After dinner we walked out in to the casino and the staff could not have been nicer. Fabulous evening through and through. THank you The Mill and the Plant House♥
We were shown to our table and then waited a long time for a server. We ordered the Thanksgiving dinner with soup. The server brought out our soup and then 30 seconds later our main course arrived. We tried to explain that it would get cold while we ate our soup and was told that it was already ready and that person walked off. We finally was able to get the attention of a manager and she fixed the issue.
Great meal and service was outstanding. No wait to be seated even though it was a holiday. Glad the open table reservation is available.
The food was good the service was a little on the slow side. The dinning room was not even full.
We were celebrating our 40th anniversary but were not very hungry, we had a nice view of the water. Our waitress worked with us on splitting a seafood louie. they brought us two cups of chowder and split the loiue into two serving leaving off an ingredient we don't like. Good service I can't remember her name THANKS
All of the courses in the chef special were delicious and included a fresh, creative salad, a palate cleanser, an entrée, and a dessert tart with fresh strawberries. The cod entrée was especially wonderful. The service was better than we've had at some 5 star restaurants. The sever was extremely attentive, friendly, and responsive, and 2 others (managers?) even stopped by to chat with us and ensure everything was good. We were very pleasantly surprised to find such a great restaurant in Coos Bay, and the bay view in the large windows topped it off.
Hello Diner88, Thank you so much for your wonderful review. I am very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the Chef's special, and had excellent service as well. We really strive to give our guests that experience that you described, so I'm so glad we hit the mark! We hope next time you're in the area, that we get the pleasure of serving you again. Sincerely, Lena Siderman Chud, Plank House Manager
Thank you ! We had a wonderful evening! Food was great , love taking friends there!
This is the 3rd time we’ve tried the food in the last year, each time hoping that it will be up to standard. We aren’t expecting a 5-star experience, but could you at least make the food correctly??? This time, the chef “forgot” the langoustine in the Bouillabaisse we ordered, as well as the root vegetables, the Bouillabaisse also had a pile of mashed potatoes in the middle of it (NOT listed on the menu). The server brought out a side plate with slices of yellow and zucchini squash on it, and a bit later a another plate that had the langoustine on it, and both looked and tasted as if the food had been microwaved. A dessert was offered as an apology, but ironically, when paying for the meal, the couple ahead of us also had a poor experience. This restaurant has so much potential, but you need a chef and not just line cooks that don’t know your menu.
Beautiful view, scrumptious food, amazing service!
Nice atmosphere, good food, friendly staff and a very nice view.
We had a wonderful time celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary.
Good food, great view and wonderful service. Would recommend to anyone wanting a nice dining experience.
Our dinner was lovely. The restaurant was quite and romantic. We were concerned we would be able to hear noise from the casino floor but we didn’t hear anything.
My husband and I went to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and The Plank House didn’t disappoint.
My dish was delicious but my only complaint was the amount of shell chunks in my crab meat. It grossed me out. My steak was so yummy though and I wasn’t heart broken about not eating the crab.
The entire evening was magical and we thoroughly enjoyed dining here.
Great food as always. Excellent service. One our fave places to dine. Thx!
The special menu for Valentine’s Day was excellent. The Lobster Thermidor & steak was beautifully plated and tasted delicious as was the spring salad. For dessert a cheesecake to share topped with chocolate dipped strawberries. The meal was well thought out for the occasion. Service was excellent. A lovely way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Also the long stemmed red rose to take from the table was a nice surprise.
Valentine's is also our anniversary, and the Plank House has become an annual tradition since moving to Coos Bay. They seem to get better and better. Thank you for making a very special occasion, an evening to remember.
No dressing with salad also had to ask for butter to put on bread
It was nice. Don’t think I’d spend $100 on two people again. The food was good. But nothing fabulous. The fire alarm went off twice during our meal. There was also two tables of loud mouths that were wayyy out of hand with bad language.
It was Christmas and they were packed. Everyone had a smile and was prompt and attentive but not hovering. The food was amazing, they have an excellent chef. I am picky and always order special and of course it was all perfectly cooked and served to my asking. I left there satisfied and relaxed and would encourage others to give it a try. We are definitely going back.
We were seated and it took a very long time for our waiter to approach our table. One of my group had the fish tacos. She said they weren't what she was used to. She did not care for them. Her rice was underdone. 2 others in our group had the shrimp scampi and both were unhappy because the tails were left on the shrimp. My seafood louie was wonderful, except for the smoked oyster. My suggestion to the chef is to use and anchovy instead. I loved the seafood chowder. The lighting was way to bright. The music was odd. The hostess was very pleasant and helpful. Overall, we were unhappy. :(
Portions very small went there for thanksgiving dinner
Took 20 minutes just to get menus. Had to ask multiple times for butter. Food was on the edge of cold when we got it. One guests had desert as part of their order- never received it. The rest were never even offered desert. From start to finish was almost 2 hours and the first hour was pretty much waiting for menus, bread, butter..... food showed up about an hour after we sat down. We waited and waited for desert to be offered....didn’t happen. Check came about 20 minutes after we’d been done eating. We will not be returning- it was a terrible dining experience
We are never disappointed when we have a meal here. The menu is creative and delicious. The service is friendly and efficient and the view caps it all off. We live about 28 mile from The Plank House, but it is always worth the drive.
We attended the Sunday Night Supper Club- Greek menu. All the courses were delicious! The service was wonderful! We had a party of 10 and all of our courses were served hot! Amazing meal!
It was so fantastic. I can't wait to go back. Everything was perfect including the smoked sea salt. So good. Thanks for the gift chef!!
I've enjoyed two great dinners at the Plank House since discovering the Mill Casino Hotel. The menu and service is great and the food is excellent. The view is outstanding and the live music was stellar.
The chef did an outstanding job. Service was impeccable.
we were disappointed with the new menu been going there for years food to spicy not what we thought we were getting way over priced would not bring family with children they would hate it just not happy with it you have a decent buffet and fast food place will not be eating there in the future
We were very pleasantly surprised by the Plank House Restaurant Sunday Supper Club at the Mill Casino. The night we visited, the theme for the dinner, was Greek and everything was well thought out and prepared. The value was outstanding. The restaurant layout is spacious and the views of the river impressive. There was attention to detail. The only thing that they need is customers willing to take a chance on a pre-fix menu and some experimentation by the chef and staff. If you are in Coos Bay on a Sunday check it out.
Nice place with almost only penny machines, Plankhouse has fantastic food! We'll be back a couple of times a year!
Appreciated the ease of being able to make reservations on line. Staff was very friendly, especially our wait staff: accommodating for the mixed group of children and adults. Great knowledge of the menu choices. It did take a bit of time between soup/salad course and main course.
The only thing that was good was the dessert . soup was aweful and the weird seafood dishes were not very good. Well not worth the money spent at all. Could have eaten better at a different casino for alot less.
