Plan B - ARDEN TOWN Ratings and Reviews
Our dinners were outstanding! One had the quail, the other the mussels, shared onion cheese tartlette and pommes frites. Service was professional but slow. Maybe they were a server short that night. Every table but two was full, so maybe they had more diners than expected. Took too long to get our menus, to take our order, and to bring the wine. Had to ask for bread for the mussel broth. I have been here two times before and both of those times the service was timely, but only a few tables were in use on those occasions.
I had not been to this restaurant for many months and was pleasantly surprised. It was less pretentious that previous visits, service was excellent and food, if not exceptional, was still very good. Most of all, the quiet atmosphere allows for conversation, which is not true in many restaurants.
Great service with knowledgeable staff. Pear and bacon pizza was incredible as an appetizer. Pork belly Reuben and pork main dish really delicious. Wines are a bit pricey and it's not the spot for a romantic dinner due to the noise level but fun place for a friend get together.
The service was slow with only three other tables seated. The special was supposed to have three pieces-- there were only two. My ribeye was grisly, overcooked and didn't taste like a ribeye. I love pepper but it was too mucheven for me. Not going back
We always go for the mussels. The appetizers were wonderful as was the gazpacho. The first round of mussels were slightly overcooked, kind of shriveled, dried up. The second round was perfect, plump and fresh. Others had the filet mignon and the duck breast, both very good. Nice wine list.
My family and I have always loved Plan B. However I was extremely disappointed that they have started using canola oil or canola/olive oil mixes in dressings, marinades, etc Canola oil is disastrous to health as it is a by product as well as GMO derived. I am seeing this more and more in high end restaurants who are trying to save a buck rather than keep with true ingredients. I hope they go back to using REAL ingredients so that way I can return more often.
This was our first visit to Plan B for along while, and it was as good as we remembered. Everything prepared and presented beautifully, with very attentive service. My only comment is that the rib-eye, while done exactly to my liking, had too much sauce on it, and, as a result, caused the usually-crisp pomme frittes to become soggy and inedible. I'm confident that particular situation will not arise again. Definitely will come back.
Nice setting with older crowd of diners. Service not overly attentive as they were busy. We usually do not salt our food so the saltiness of the mashed potatoes and green beans was not to our taste. The swordfish seemed to have been grilled on the same grill as the beef so the grill flavors overpowered that of the fish. Will try the mussels next time.
This was our first visit to Plan B. We left wondering why it had taken us so long to go there. We stayed at our table, talking to a friend we hadn't seen for a while, for 3 hours. There were just a few people left when we did. The owner was very gracious. We'll return in the near future because everything was superb.
I really hate to give Plan B A positive review because then everybody will be going there. But there's no way I cannot recommend this restaurant! I have the pleasure of going to many nice places for dining, and plan B is definitely up there with the best. I've been going there since they opened. The small intimate atmosphere coupled with great service and great food, make it an terrific place to dine. I took friends that have never been there and they loved it as well!
So please read this review and go somewhere else and definitely don't tell your friends about this place. :-)
This was a great choice for our anniversary dinner. The owner greeted us at the door and seated us at our choice of available tables. Conversations around us were quiet and the background music was just right.
The food was terrific - we split the Salmon Stix to start. Nice size servings and done perfectly. A side of pomme frites and a salad led to the roasted chicken entree. Once again, done perfectly.
The wine list wasn't too long but nicely selected for variety and quality.
Our waiter was right on point all night. He never interrupted us but was there quickly at all the right moments.
It was wonderful to linger over a slow meal for almost 3 hours to celebrate our anniversary. And the owner escorted us to the door as we left.
Always love Plan B, and it never fails to impress me with the wonderful food and friendly service. Have to come here for the mussels which are devine! Tried them with the coconut sauce this time which is my new favorite. Husband always loves their steaks too!
Owner met us at the door, and remembered that we had dined there before. Wife loves mussels, and they prepare them in 5 or 6 different sauces. Specials are usually what I tend to gravitate towards. Their burger is good also. Only one cabernet by the glass is the only short coming. But it was a good red, so not dissatisfied. Service was prompt, waiter knew the specials without reading the blackboard. They kept our water glasses full, and gave us a second serving of fresh italian bread and butter. Owner made sure to say goodbye when we left and held the door open for us. Will definitely visit again.
