We went to celebrate a birthday. Had the mussels with ponme frites, and a fruit tart for dessert. Everything was yummy.
Being this was my first time to Plan B I was impressed. The decor was very nice and comfortable. The service was excellent as was the food. Our waiter(?) was wonderful and charming. Sorry I forgot his name as I have Parkinson's and don't always remember names, but as I said, he was great. I will definitely tell all our friend and business acquaintances about your wonderful establishment. By the way, my husband and his friends get together for your " Happy Hour" at least once a week, sometimes more, and love the appetizers. Hope to see you soon.

It seemed that the restaurant was understaffed. Our waiter took our drink orders, delivered them and then disappeared. After flagging him down, it was more than 30 minutes after our arrival before our waiter was available to take our order. I got a little grumpy knowing that food was at least 20 minutes away. Our friends who were with us said that their previous experience was similar - slow service. Some French bread and butter arrived, but sad to say the bread did not seem fresh. The food itself was tasty, but getting cranky while waiting for food does not make for a good overall experience. It's too bad it wasn't a better experience as it's a relatively nice restaurant overall and it's in our neighborhood.
Excellent meal. Good wine list.
The restaurant was overwhelmed by a bit birthday party that was extremely loud and obnoxious. Not only did it take away from the usual great ambiance but it also overwhelmed the staff. This is still one of the best restaurants in East Sacramento.
One of my favorite places to go. Food is great, service is fabulous, when the owners are there they spend time with you to make sure you are satisfied with everything.
The food was good but not fabulous. Portions were small. Mussels were tiny.
This is my second time here and I love it. Our waiter was very nice, polite, gave us plenty of space so we could converse and spend time with each other. He was so sweet and the food of course is excellent!!!
I will always come back, I love the ambiance it is an overall great place and not to far from my house. Dawn
We were happy with our first trip to the restaurant. Tried the mussels which were good. My wife had the parchment wrapped branzino and I had the rib eye. Both were excellent. We will be back.
Thebmostvdelicious meal I've had in Sacramento in the last 20 years. Kind an generous service. Will DEFINITELY be back.
Plan B is a great find for this neighborhood to have such a good restaurant so close by that serves great food and has a very friendly service staff. I’d recommend this to anyone in the Carmichael - Fair Oaks area.
The food is absolutely spectacular. Everyone enjoyed their meal. However, we were there for 2.5 hours, most of it waiting, and we did not have a whole bunch of courses (just mussels, entre, and dessert). This may not be the fault of the server -- it could be that the kitchen was very slow and/or that there are simply not enough servers to keep track of everything. But we had to ask for additional bread for our mussels (I had to go find the waiter in the bar area), and twice we had to ask for more water. We waited a half hour after our entre plates were cleared before the waiter came back to see if we wanted dessert. He did not check on us at all after delivering our food. I wish I could recommend this place because of the food, and I do recommend it if you want an extremely leisurely dinner, but for us it just was too slow.
Sitting on the patio, which is basically the parking lot, wasn't our idea of a nice date night dinner. No host to greet us. We had to wait for the bartender to finish pouring drinks to seat us. Our waiter was really nice when we saw him. Won't be going back.
The food was delicious! Best rack of lamb in town. The butter lettuce salad was exquisite and the cheesecake was sublime. The service was quirky and uneven, though, which is why I only gave it a four star rating.
Good good and friendly service.
Amazing as usual. We love this place. Thank you Chris for an amazing dinner when my Plan A failed. Plan b is always a good choice
Very attentive waiters. The mussels were unbelievable. My wife had the salmon and it was good too. We definitely will return.
Exceptional food and service!!
Just spent my wife's 50th B day there with kids and it was perfect. Feels like our restaurant, in our town, and sure enough saw one of our friends there. Great for a touch of sophisticationin for our simple Carmichael family life. Just right for my very special wife.Thank you.
My daughters 6 year birthday!
What a gem this restaurant is. It feels small and cozy but with room to have an intimate time with friends. The food was Uh-Mazing! The plates were flavorful, perfect temperature and the flavors balanced and fresh. Great atmosphere for ladies night or celebration dinner. The bar looked lively and would be fun to just hang out for a bite to eat and glass of wine. Highly recommend!
Fish and fillet both over cooked but server redid entire meal which was done perfectly the second time and gave us wine and dessert on the house!
Unpretentious French influenced restaurant. Small but very adequate menu. Kitchen knows what it's doing.Menu choices were perfect. We could have happily ordered anything on the menu. Look forward to going back.
Went with a friend. The food and service was excellent. This is a great neighborhood restaurant. We will be back.
I absolutely recommend this neighborhood gem. The atmosphere is quiet, romantic and ideal even if dining alone. I feel it is a very homey place with exceptional food that has a lovely presentation. The service has always been excellent. Nobody is rushed. The desserts were great, especially the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. The restaurant is under new ownership (as of the past year) and the new owner is very gracious.
Had an unpleasant experience here while celebrating my Bastille Day birthday. I had been looking forward to having mussels all week at Plan B. When the waitress took my order, she informed me they were completely out of mussels. Not only did she not notify my table that mussels were not available when we were first seated, mussels literally make up half of the dinner menu at this place! How can you run a successful business with half of a menu, especially on Bastille Day?!? I was clearly disappointed, and the waitress's offer to "go out and buy you some mussels" came across as condescending. I ordered the swordfish, which was presented nicely but lacked flavor. I took 3 bites.
One of my favorite neighborhood restaurants! The service is exceptional
Plan B has a relaxed and casual vibe./Maitre d', was very accommodating, even with a late arrival. The mussels, butter lettuce salad, and onion soup were all good. The special tartlette was tasty and featured fresh stone fruit. My kids loved the chocolate lava cake, a nicely warm and oozing cake served with vanilla ice cream and powdered sugar.
Their AC can’t seem to keep up in a hot night.
Stylish restaurant located in an unassuming strip mall. One room including the bar with a decent number of tables. Prompt and attentive service, good food and wines. Very nice ambience. I highly recommend!
Our group of 12 went to Plan B in Arden Town on a recent Friday night (with a reservation). It's the second time we've gone there for dinner and everything was excellent again. The food is delicious and the presentation is great; within our group we ordered the lamb, rib-eye steak, risotto with lobster, even their hamburger and everyone loved their meals (even the vegetables were delicious). Two of our group shared the Chocolate Molten Cake for dessert and said it was fabulous too. As excellent as the food was, our server, Rodney, was even better. He did an outstanding job with a large group, was helpful and knowledgeable in answering questions, was attentive, didn't rush us, and not only did he do separate checks for us but he got them all correct the first time and even split billed an appetizer two of us shared without being asked. I mean we go out as a group often and that just never happens. So food, service, and ambience made for a perfect evening for all of us.
Had 8 oclock reservation. My wife and I love this cozy place in Arden Park and go there for special occasion (or just date night). Strange to have something so cosmopolitan in the suburbs around the corner from where we live.
Food was good, not great, a bit overpriced.
Plan B is a friendly community bistro with very good food and service. It is best for leisurely evenings and long conversations with friends, as the pace is not very fast, but that can be a plus if you just want to spend a nice evening out with your special someone or friends. Mussels, rack of lamb, salmon, risotto are all top notch. Corkage fee of $20 waived if you buy a bottle to complement one you bring in.
My wife and I live in Arden Park and have been going there for special occasion for years. Feels like a cozy city restaurant instead of a place on the edge of the suburbs. We split the Tiger Prawns, Tomato tartlette and spinach salad. The fillet is excellent (I always get it).
Worth the splurge!
The food was excellent. I did not like the temperature of the building. I was so warm; I had to fan myself. If I am paying for an expensive meal, I would like to be comfortable. I would like a table cloth also. The atmosphere needs to match the quality of food.
We love coming to this restaurant for the food and the service. Mimi is the best!
Lovely slow dinner
Great food. The server was very attentive. Everyone was so nice. Will go back again and again.
A nice, reliable neighborhood restaurant. A well-edited menu.
