Place Pigalle Ratings and Reviews
The food is good, but every dish we had was far too heavy. If you go, consider asking about that. You certainly don't need an appetizer and an entrée when the food is this rich. All of the food seemed to be swimming in very tasty but overwhelming sauces.
We tried the soup, which was very rich, but the meatballs in the soup tasted like defrosted meat and hadn't absorbed the soup flavors.
The location is darling, the service is excellent.
Would I go back? There are so many other restaurants to try, all I can say is I would rather try so many others before I would return here.
I do think it's a romantic spot for a beautiful day in Seattle, so if you are looking for that, then this restaurant is great for that.
The service was lackluster. Our server never checked back with us after serving our entrees until they were almost gone. If she would have I would of asked for some fresh pepper and lemons. She was doing her side work instead of attending to her guests. We had to hear the specials from the server at the table next to us. Our server never offered us the soup of the day, salmon special or anything else, just "what do you want to order?" We ordered starters and she said is that it? I guess she thought we were cheap tourists....dissapointing
The mussels we ordered were rancid and we sent them back. At the recommendation of the waiter, I ordered the rabbit, my partner ordered the lamb. The Tabor was on a gigantic bed of flavorless mush. It was supposed to be sweet potato but honestly, I couldn't tell what it was. The mush was topped with cold arugula and then 4 medalions of rabbit. There was no sauce and no vegetable. The price was $38 - way over priced. My partners lamb consisted of 5 small lolypops on a huge bed of the same mush I had. There was no vegetable, just a sprinkling of arugula. There was a nice sauce served with the lamb. The price of that dish was $54, again way over priced and very mediocre. Will not be going back and would NOT recommend.
We wanted to say thank you! We had an absolutely fantastic meal and y’all were kind enough to seat us with an amazing view of the pier and Ferris wheel. You made the whole night special for us and gave us the perfect table and service while we celebrated our anniversary. We really couldn’t have asked for a better experience or meal.
The view, ambiance and service were spectacular. The food was quite good, although a bit too rich for my tastes. We were celebrating my husband's birthday, and it turned out to be quite a memorable evening. This is a wonderful spot for special celebrations, and we will definitely return!
Tradition has brought us to Place Pigalle at least a dozen times during the past 25 years to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This year we have decided this tradition will come to an end. Although the ambience remains wonderful tucked away in the alley of Pike Place Market with romantic views of the Sound from a cozy window table, the service was slow and awkward, the food was just mediocre and overall everything was underwhelming and incredibly over priced. Sorry to say it has lost it's magic for us.
Fabulous every time! I brought a French friend who is hard to please. She loved the French Onion Soup and salmon. The crab cakes were also very good. I have eaten here three times and never been disappointed. It is a bit hard to find so get directions if you are not familiar with the market. My friend did wish that they would have offered French wine rather than California.
We were in Seattle and arranged to meet family living nearby (military service). We had a great evening combined with a window table, excellent food, and fantastic service from the entire Place Pigalle team ... even though we were the last guests to leave. This is a small bistro style restaurant, a little hard to find, but worth the search.
My first impression was favorable with a bit of a surprise about its location. I was expecting something in the market proper but this was almost like a secret room. You pass thru at the fish market and immediately have a view of the bay. Upon entering I was greeted and seated immediately. While small and a bit noisy, the staff were well cersed in the menu choices and where the food was sourced. The local seafood was very good My Salmon was delicious and the Calimari appitizer was a new experience based on the way they prepared it. Much better than the usuall breaded/fried approach. To have made it better for me a few local beers on tap would have been awesome but the bottled local beer was also good. I will definitely be back to try the other menu choices.
Always a favorite place for special dates when we lived in Seattle so we had to revisit for lunch on a recent brief visit. It was excellent as always! Tina’s spunk and top notch service only added to our total enjoyment of the fabulous warm beet salad, arugula and goat cheese salad, the N W bouillabaisse and the perfect wine pairings. Hope we don’t have to wait another 7 years to return for the ambiance, warm hospitality and delicious food.
We love Place Pigale and have had many great experiences there. I am not sure we had ever gone on a summer Saturday evening before? We had our least enjoyable experience...
We arrived 10 minutes prior to our 6pm reservation planning to finish by 7:30 so we could make our 8pm show. There was seating outside and we preferred inside. There seemed to be only 1 waiter for the inside dining. Soon after we arrived I think ~10 more parties were seated in the main dining. The waiter was swamped.
After 10 minutes our drink order was taken, 15 minutes later the drink arrived and our food order was taken. We were told that to get us out by 7:30 would require bringing the appetizer at the same time as the main. We decided to just take the main. Then the main course arrived fairly quickly, 10-15 minutes?
We finished eating around 7 but thought it would not be wise to order a dessert.
As usual the food was excellent. But the management of their dining room was a mess this last Saturday, we observed customers leaving without being waited on and other customers getting up to grab their own silverware, etc.
I love Place Pigalle! It is my number one spot to meet a friend for lunch. The muscles are the best in Seattle by far. I try not to get them every time, but it's hard not to. I did order a dozen oysters to start and they weren't outrageous, but that was more the timing in the season than any fault of theirs. The vinegar sauce served alongside was simple and perfect. Although the presentation is lovely on the rock salt, a bed of ice really helps oysters be at their best even when they're not in peak season (in winter). Their beet salad is great, as is their pate'.
