PL8 Bistro and Gallery
Food, service and ambiance were fantastic. Server Anna was great! Will return & highly recommend PL8
Server was rude and inattentive. Which might explain why we were just one of three tables in the restaurant. Clearly they don’t care about providing a good dining experience. My food was okay but my husband did not like his steak.
Everything was perfect. The host was warm and provided a quick explanation of the restaurant concept as he took us to our table. Waitress was well-versed in both the cocktail and food menus and made excellent recommendations from each. Great atmosphere conducive for multiple types of nights out. Will definitely recommend and return.
Very chic atmosphere
Service and staff were amazing but food was even better!
I saw this restaurant on Open Table and was not familiar with it, but read the reviews, so decided to try a last minute reservation. I had told them it was my husbands birthday and they did mention it when they sat us at our table. The inside décor was very nice and more upscale than anticipated. It was a Saturday night but it was not very busy. We had a very nice server and she was very attentive. We did learn they had a large private party upstairs. We started off with calamari and the Plate Dip Trio. Calamari was cooked well and the dips were good. I especially liked the pimento cheese. It took a bit of time for dinner to arrive, though we were not that worried about it. For dinner we had the Lamb Lollipops and Crab Puff Pastry. Very generous portions of the pastry. Both were very good, but the Lamb plate was not hot when it arrived.
They brought us a dessert on the house, as they apologized for the delay in serving dinner, which was nice. Overall, I would go back again.
Staff should limit answers to questions to 15 seconds.
Someone should be in the dining room at all times. Three women walked in, waited, looked around, waited more, then left. Gap was probably 3 or 4 mins, but enough time to get frustrated and leave.
Food was excellent.
We went early, before the theater, and it was delightful. Upscale meal with happy hour drink pricing. Very nice decor and quiet enough to talk easily. The patio is lovely although we chose inside seating for this summer evening.
PL8 offers a breath of fresh air from the typical restaurant experience I have come to expect in the Uptown area. The atmosphere is unique with considerate pieces of art displayed throughout, accompanied by a clean, elegant layout. It is evident plenty of thought went into the design, which is a night and day difference from the past bar/restaurant occupants in the building. Service was outstanding, and it was difficult to pick which foods to try from the menu with so many mouthwatering options. I would recommend everything I tried from the dinner menu- Meatballs, chicken lettuce wraps, and the lobster gnocchi. Will definitely be back to try more!
Creative menu well executed and served by staff that were delightful in a well designed dinning room with sophisticated lighting and art collection.
The hostess and waiter were super fun and the food and drinks were great. Love the ambience. Would definitely go back next time I’m in town.
A friend recommended this place to us and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It has a great ambiance and the food is delicious. We'll be back for sure.
Service was very slow. We did not get our dessert even though we paid for a fixed menu. There were no apologies for the inattentive service.
Enjoyed meeting the attentive staff. Lobster tacos were yummy and light
I ordered sparkling water which never came. Food was so, so. Decorum was very nice, but food and service not up to par.
Excellent service. Everyone was super friendly. Foods were exceptional!
Food was good. Waitstaff as great. I especially enjoyed the drinks as the old fashioned I had was probably in in my top 3 for Dallas!
Great food in a great location - matched with awesome service. Love the shared plate concept that gave each of us the option to try many things vs. one.
Great service, great food! We sat outside & it was delightful. This was our second time there & we plan to make it a regular!
Great food, beautiful restaurant, great service, fantastic price and a great concept.
I made a reservation here for a girls night dinner. Customer service was fabulous, food was great and ambiance was beautiful.
This is a very cool space with some significant operational issues. We went on a weeknight. Dining room was fairly empty but there was a good crowd on the patio. Service was poor. Drinks took a long time. Entrees came out in stages. First 2 were delivered. Then the third. And 10 minutes later the fourth. After we sent back the third glass of water with bugs in it (and we were inside!) the waiter said”I guess they must like you”. Charming. Menu is literally all over the map. Thai, Italian, Greek, Mexican, well you get the idea. None of what we tried was memorable or particularly good. The grouper was not described as fried but deep fried it was. Really should put that on the menu as most people would want to know. Their customers in NYC wouldn’t put up with this level of food and service and I’m guessing their customers here won’t either.
Still getting the kinks out. Good drinks, but the kitchen is struggling..
Sally Evans was so kind and moved our requested reservation from a window to sit outside so my mother could enjoy the day. Jose, our waiter was great! The food was very tasty. Great Location. Will be back.
It was the perfect atmosphere for Mother’s Day Brunch! The service and food were amazing! Such a cute place with great great food!
Overall pretty good experience. The calamari was very good but the salmon was tough and dry but the corn salsa with it was very good.
So fun and fabulous food! Bartender was knowledgeable about drinks as well as menu.
Loved, loved, loved it!
Amazing food, especially the butter chicken, cauliflower and the Pad Thai. Something unique of this place is the mix of different cuisines (Italian, Asian cushion, French and Moroccan, there may even be some Spanish too) and the ambience (looks like an art gallery inside). Serve e is great and the prices are very reasonable. One of my favorites spots in Uptown Dallas.
Such a cute new restaurant! Amazing prices for the food! It’s decorated so well giving it an awesome ambiance(comfy, beautiful chairs, and insanely cool artwork that you could purchase if interested) ! Great for date night, fun girls’ night, festive dinner for out of town guests, etc! Would definitely recommend!
Wanted to order a sparkling wine but the one we wanted was not available. Asked if they had a replacement. This is when things got strange. It took three waiters to figure it out. They eventually came up with something. Lunch was good. Great hamburger. Chicken Cuban was okay. Different. Sweet potato fries could have been crisper. Manager gave us some coupons for free drinks due to the drink order confusion. Very nice to do that. I like the variety of their menu. Worth a try. Very nice staff.
Wow - we used to come here when it was Fat Rabbit! I did not even recognize the space. It looks like an LA Bistro/Lounge. Great music and food was wonderful. I had the Lasagna and my wife had the Butter Chicken. We live next door and will be back this Sunday to try the brunch menu.
We stayed from lunch until Happy Hour -- really great local spot!
This place is SO beautiful! Awesome chill vibe, exactly what uptown has been needing. It will DEF be a new hang out for me and my girlfriends. The food was amazing, craft cocktails were so cool. We are going back tonight to check out the bar scene in uptown now
My company had our corporate happy hour hear. The private patio was PERFECT! Sally and Adam were very helpful, Chad was our bartender and excellent. They chose a selection of appetizers for our group and everything was perfect. Their Happy Hour Menu was excellent.
We will be back often! Great vibe, BEAUTIFUL decor!
around the world menu selections...
contemporary chic decor
The latest and greatest in Uptown. PL8 (Plate) is a beautiful new restaurant with tremendous decor, reasonable prices, excellent service and in the heart of Uptown. This is a must for anyone visiting or living in the area. Don't let the beautiful decor and art scare you off. The prices are very reasonable and worth every penny. I went with friends, a party of 4 and we all had share plates. Great way to taste many exotic cuisines. I will definitely be returning again.
Happy to have this new restaurant in the neighborhood! Judith was the perfect hostess-she greeted us at the door and was very knowledgeable on the concept and menu. The restaurant is a unique space with local art for sale on walls. Our sever, Jose, was friendly and attentive with great food recommendations. We loved the shrimp and grits and the spicy tuna tartare- also the cocktails were delicious. (Try the Abstract Mood- it changes colors when made at your table.) We will definitely be back soon!
We made and confirmed a reservation for Sunday at 7pm. We showed up, paid for parking, walking up to the front door to see all the lights on; but no one home. The front door was locked and empty inside. We called the listed phone number only to be met with a voicemail. I’m not sure if this is an online scheduling problem, but the restaurant website states the operating hours for Sunday are until 11pm. Very disappointed. Was looking forward to trying this new space. It Was embarrassing to show up with a friend from out of town only to discover we had a bad reservation
