We arrived early and lucked into two spaces at the bar. About a quarter of an hour later, the hostess kindly arranged for a table, but by then, we were in the good hands of the bartender and spent the rest of our time at the bar. It was a blast, watching the people pass by and enjoying the 'new beginning' for New York City! Oh, and the Manhattans and the oysters were a little bit of heaven - a real treat. Looking forward to going back, next time we're up by Lincoln Center (which will be soon). Sincerely, DAB, Brooklyn
Service was attentive and prompt. Food was just ok and the portions were small for the price. Convenient if you have a show but there are better options in the area.
Hassle being seated despite having a reservation and being there on time. Went to meet the other in my party at the bar to wait for a table to be readied. Waited there for about 15 min. finally seated. First pass of server, asked her to return in a few minutes as we had not been able to look at the menu yet. Twenty minutes later, finally made a second pass after we flagged down someone else to go get her. Two dishes ordered, a grilled chicken Caesar and a lobster roll (both minimal cook in the moment dishes). Food didn't come for about 40 more minutes. Finally runner came and didn't know who had ordered what. While eating manager approached to see how everything was and we recounted our problems. He apologized and asked if there was anything he could do to make it right, he offered a free dessert or drink and said I wanted my dish comped, which he did. After many years of consistently good service and excellent food quality, I will probably not return anytime soon to PJ Clarke's.
Food was pricey but not amazing.
Pastrami Reuben's meat was too tough to eat as a sandwich, needed to cut it with a knife, and even then, I think the meat hadn't been cut across the grain but lengthwise. Onion strings were a tasty treat. Another time, I'll order something else, but won't put it on my don't visit list.
Service attentionné mais quel dommage que pour Thanksgiving, à 18:30, il n’y ait plus ni soupe au potiron ni gratin de pommes de terre douces. Ce n’est plus un vrai repas de Thanksgiving !!
We come every year Thanksgiving Eve before walking up to view the Macy’s Balloon inflation event. It’s become a really tradition. Food and service is always excellent. Our reservation is always ready and we never have to wait. Well done Pj Clarke’s!
Always a great place! Happy PJ Clarke's is back.
The restaurant is a great. spot. Excellent food and service and just across the street from Lincoln Center, where we were headed after lunch. I will return again soon to the restaurant.
Server and host/hostess friendly and courteous. Ambiance is great and location was perfect but the food was so mediocre and overpriced. Touristy area so I get it but the Clarke burger was so blah.
Waaaaay too noisy--music blasting unnecessarily (not to mention wall-to-wall screaming babies--and obnoxious parents who don't try to calm the babies down or take them outside). Excellent service from Carlos who was incredibly helpful and attentive. Great clam chowder. Decent burgers, despite being overcooked.
Excellent attentive service from the moment we walked in, but the food was just OK
Still, always a high energy vibe for casual dining, especially before attending a concert at Lincoln center across the street
Covid protcols were followed. Service was great . Everyone was attentive and very nice. It was very nice to once again be able to dine at P.J. Clarks in Lincoln square
It was nice to revisit following their reopening, but sadly the food was as mediocre as it was pre-pandemic. The service, as always, was cheerful and professional. Unfortunate that the kitchen doesn’t match up.
If you are adhering to to gluten free diet there are limited choices. The hamburger on gluten free bun was delicious
First of all my party was seated upfront by the lobby every time someone walked in the slamming of the front door rattled our table!
The service was subpar the waiter took our order and we never saw him again till the food was already served he made a brief appearance and then pretty much not seen again. We had to ask someone at the host stand fir our check and even pay for it they turn since our server was no where to be found!
I also was very unhappy with the addition that f sides to our bill. The server asked when we ordered if fries were ok we ask what can we have instead he said any of the sides listed on the menu but didn’t say we would be charged for them! I feel this is something u should explain ahead of time! The fact your burger on a plate would cost 18$ then 6$+ for a side is outrageous! I’m addition to all this my own burger was partially raw when I order led med rare!
We will not be coming back l! Definitely will inform friends to avoid
Delicious food in a lively restaurant. Love coming to PJ Clarke’s!
Disappointing menu for Sunday at 11:00, could be a few brunch items. Very convenient to Lincoln Center.
If it weren't I probably would not go there to eat.
Burgers and steaks were over done. Sent the steak back. Server said chef was angry. Next one came back overdone as well. This restaurant is on the goop travel site. Very dissatisfied with their recommendation. Server was good however doing the best she could
Location is excellent for Metropolitan Opera, N.Y.Philharmonic and A.B.T. performances
Lively bar scene and extensive menu selections
Very nice staff - my friends and I enjoyed the meal.
It was my daughter’s birthday. She did not want a big fuss, so we gathered a few very close friends for dinner. The waitress was super amazing, friendly and was checking on us at good intervals-not too much, not too little. Bravo to the host who diligently checked our vaccination proof AND ID. Felt safe to be there. And the food: yum! Very good. Cocktails a bit watery, but all else was awesome.
Convenient to Lincoln Center. Varied menu for all tastes and pocketbooks
Attentive service. On,y negative was noise level made is difficult to converse with hard of hearing companion.
We're so happy to be back. And we're so happy PJ Clarke's is back.
It used to be a go-to, a local, a tried and true. It feels like the menu is more limited than it used to be. A bit more expensive than it used to be. The interior was chilly and felt a little unwelcoming. Maybe we've changed, but this was not the magical experience we used to love. Still, burgers were good.
Hostess was rude when we entered the restaurant. Waiter was pleasant, but not around when we wanted to request more drinks, condiments, and check. The food server handed me a VERY HOT plate of chicken Pot pie without warning me it was hot then smirked when I almost dropped it on the table. The fish & chips were inedible.
I’ll definitely seek another restaurant option when around Lincoln Center. Not worth the calories and cash.
The skirt steak frites were not worth 40$. The steak was tough, it was over cooked, the best part of the meal was the French fries. I’ve had better quality steak at chili’s and it’s very disappointing.
Fantastic burgers and steaks. Some of the best shoestring fries in existence.
Food burger, friee, grilled brussels sprouts -all good...Atmosphere is very old, like TGIF /stale --service staff is exceptionally good.
My second time within two weeks eating there. Each time I and my dinner guest had lobster rolls that were on stale brioche rolls. One time was a fluke, but a second time is carelessness or indifference on their part. Coffee was weak and chalky tasting. They are in an ideal location for pre theater dinner. They need to step up.
Enjoyed sitting at the bar as Ryan was a great bartender and server. We enjoyed the zucchini chips and the cheese steak egg rolls. The salmon was Devine as was the Cadillac burger. Drinks were good. The overall experience was made best by a caring, attentive and personable server. Kudos to Ryan for making the meal wonderful.
Glad to be going again to our go-to place near Lincoln Center. We will not stop going here, so long as it's open. I do have a BUT.... My father is no doubt spinning in his grave about how much we paid for 3 drinks, 2 Caesar salads, a burger and a skirt steak. Not for people on a budget. But I will return to where I began. We are fortunate and can afford an occasional night out like this, and we will continue to come with bells and whistles! Because this place is great.
Oh, and best juke box in the City!
Service was friendly and helpful, recommending the best drinks for our table. The Cadillac burger and the trio of mini burgers were both delicious. The restaurant was lively and busy. Overall, a great dining experience.
Tables not crowded together. Doors open so fresh air coming in. Great food!
First time at this location, food was good, as always.
Good elevated bar food. I would have given them a better rating if they offered at least one vegetarian entree.
Was ok. Nothing special.
This has been a regular dining spot for me and my family. We love the location and the food has been historically dependable and good. While the manager was so nice and welcoming, our wait staff member was not very attentive. I ordered salmon and it was so over-cooked and the glaze was burned on the top. On the other hand, my son's steak was raw in the middle. They re-cooked the salmon, this time, to have the salmon raw in the middle. I know they're just coming back from being closed and it was very busy the evening we dined there, but the food quality is definitely not the same as pre-COVID. There's a lot of new people working there and perhaps it's just a learning curve. The menu has also changed, which it would normally, but missing high quality steaks, such as filet. The best you can order at this time is a skirt steak.
I would not recommend PJs to friends at this time, but am hopeful it will get better and we will be able to get back to our routine and frequent PJ Clarkes!
The overall dining experience at P. J. Clarke’s was great! When we ate there during a trip to New York City a few years ago I said they had the best hamburgers I have ever had, and when we visited again this weekend that still holds true!
Really glad this P.J.Clark's has reopened after COVID. Everything was excellent with no deterioration due to COVID. We were really looking forward to the reopening and were not disappointed. The oysters were well prepare as always and really tasty. The Cadillac Burger is still our favorite. Hope to be back again soon. So handy to Lincoln Center for before or after a performance.
We came for hamburgers and ribs. But no ribs so we both ordered a regular cheeseburger, which was certainly not as good as it used to be. The fries were rubbery. We wanted the wedge salad which was taken off the menu, sadly, so we split the Cesare salad which was good. Had to ask for salt and pepper, extra forks. Waiter was very attentive and extremely nice. Your staff is very hard working.
I realize the pandemic has changed how restaurants function snd this restaurant has been closed for a long while. We live in this neighborhood and used to look forward to a good burger. But yesterday’s burgers were disappointing.
